  • Patent number: 8308424
Abstract: A helical turbine power generation system is configured to generate electricity by using a helical turbine and an overload prevention generator. More specifically, the helical turbine is rotatably provided in a frame so as to continuously generate a rotation force under unidirectional or multidirectional fluid flow and a step-up gear is configured to increase the rotational velocity of the helical turbine up to a level required for generating electricity. Additionally, an overload prevention generator is incorporated to generate electricity by using the rotational velocity transferred from the step-up gear thereby preventing an overload caused by a sudden increase in the rotational velocity of the turbine.

  • Patent number: 8309053
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel modified fatty acid analogs, where a positron or gamma-emitting label is placed at a position on a fatty acid backbone and an organic substituent is substituted at the 2,3; 3,4; 4,5; 5,6 and other sequence positions of a fatty acid backbone. These novel fatty acid analogs are designed to enter the tissues of interest by the same long chain fatty acid carrier mechanism as natural fatty acids, however, functional substituents in the 2,3; 3,4; 4,5; 5,6 and other sequence positions, block the catabolic pathway, thus trapping these analogs in a virtually unmodified form in the tissues of interest.

  • Patent number: 8304601
Abstract: It is intended to provide an animal model which shows a naturally occurring eye disease symptom, particularly ocular hypertension and/or retinal degeneration. The invention relates to a non-human animal for eye disease model in which the function of Vav2 gene and/or Vav3 gene have/has been impaired. Because the animal shows a naturally occurring eye disease symptom, such as ocular hypertension and/or retinal degeneration without administering a drug or placing it in a special growth environment, it can be used as a model useful for elucidation of onset mechanism of eye disease or evaluation for therapeutic agent for eye disease. When it is applied for such a purpose, because it is not affected by an exogenous factor, which is conventionally administered for artificially inducing eye disease, it reflects a natural pathology, therefore, the clinical and industrial usefulness thereof is high.

  • Patent number: 8307126
Abstract: A control device having an output pin expansion function and an output pin expansion method thereof are provided. The method includes: connecting at least a shift register unit having a plurality of data transmission pins to a control unit such that the shift register unit can receive strobe signals, a multi-bit data stream, clock signals and enable signals generated by the control unit; sending an enable signal by the control unit so as to allow the shift register unit to shift and store each bit of a multi-bit data stream according to a clock signal generated by the control unit; and sending a strobe signal by the control unit so as to allow the shift register unit to output the multi-bit data in parallel format as opposed to the received serial format through the plurality of data transmission pins, thereby allowing a processing device to interface with more devices (such as LED state indicators) than its fixed number of dedicated output pins would conveniently allow, thus saving costs and board space.
