Patent number: 6382212Abstract: A fenestrated surgical drape has a panel having at least two portions and a centrally located fenestration. The two portions each have a deployment tab located on a portion distal end and the portions are folded near or on the fenestration so that the deployment tab is accessible and adapted to deploy the portion away from the fenestration. The portions are folded over the fenestration so that the inner surface surrounding the fenestration is unobstructed for ease in locating the fenestration over a patient application site.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2000Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventor: Craig F. Patent number: 6302990Abstract: An infusion catheter for delivering drugs or other agents to selected sites in an organism, such as a human. In an alternate embodiment, a catheter system is disclosed having an infusion catheter and a pump that may be implanted or disposed outside the organism. In either embodiment, the free end of the catheter bears a rounded tip that has at least one elution hole for discharging an agent or drug to a selected site. The catheter has a tubular inner liner that is integral with the tip. The inner liner and tip are formed from a drug compatible polymeric material that is relatively nonporous and unreactive with the agent to be infused. A biocompatible flexible elastomeric tubular jacket surrounds the inner liner and a portion of the tip excluding that portion containing the elution hole or holes.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2000Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventor: Timothy S. Patent number: 6171082Abstract: A peristaltic pumping mechanism is provided with a non-permeable peristaltic circuit comprising two strips of thin metal laser bonded at their edges to form a tube. In one embodiment, the non-permeable tubing takes the form of a continuous loop having input and output ports. In another embodiment, the tubing is open and generally U-shaped. In still another embodiment, a dual-tube circuit is provided, wherein a central, metal tube is disposed within an outer elastomeric tube having an inner diameter larger than the outer dimension of the metal tube. The elastomeric tube supports the metal tube only at the ends of the circuit, enabling the metal tube to “float” within the elastomeric tube.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1997Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventors: Doulas O. Patent number: 5990426Abstract: An appliance timer has features to facilitate automated assembly or manual assembly. A timer housing base accepts timer components from two directions, and installation of components in either direction is along a straight axis. A motor in the timer engages a gear train which runs a drive cam. The drive cam imparts motion to a camstack which then engages timer blade switches, and the blade switches operate the appliance. A subinterval is also supplied on the timer to allow periodic operation of a switch without the use of the camstack. The timer also features a quiet manual advance which removes the blade switches from communication with the camstack to allow an operator to select various timer programs without any of the clicking noises that are usually associated with timer program selection. Furthermore, a detent slider is positioned in communication with the camstack to provide a tactile feel for the operator of the timer when selecting between various timer programs.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1998Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventor: Daniel Keith Amonett

Patent number: 5601491Abstract: The clutch is an integral gear stage in a subfractional horsepower motor gear train that is used in an appliance such as an icemaker or cam-operated timer. The clutch has an inner member with arc-shaped springs that carry curved protrusions and an outer member with sinusoidally shaped contours. The curved protrusions engage the sinusoidally shaped contours to permit the clutch to transmit torque to an appliance component. When the torque applied to the clutch exceeds a predetermined level, the curved protrusions disengage from the contours and permit the inner member to rotate independently from the outer member. The curved protrusions disengage from the sinusoidally shaped contours and then reengage the sinusoidally shaped contours causing the arc-shaped springs to compress and extend as a function of the sinusoidally shaped contours, gradually compressing and gradually extending, thereby reducing vibration and noise.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1995Date of Patent: February 11, 1997Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventors: Chun W. Patent number: 5582410Abstract: A chess game playable by two or more players is disclosed. The chess game is played upon polygonal spaces arranged substantially in the shape of an equilateral polygon. Two or more armies of chessmen are arranged on the chessboard. Additional chessmen are added to each army of chessmen, providing a balance of competition equivalent to the balance of competition inherent in traditional chess. The chess game is historically based on the events of the Great Schism of (1378-1417).Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1995Date of Patent: December 10, 1996Inventor: Aaron A. Hunt

Patent number: 5545318Abstract: A water valve inlet screen has a mesh network for filtering contaminates, and openings to allow water to pass through the inlet screen and into the valving cavity. Ribs of differing heights are formed on the mesh network to hold large particles away from the openings and allow water to flow around the particles. Additionally, the ribs increase the turbulence of water flow and, thus, reduce the stability of contaminates lodged on the ribs and encourage them away from the openings that they rest in front of. A flange is located on the downstream end of the inlet screen with serrations to provide openings for allowing water passage through the flange. Water passing through the flange encourages large particles to accumulate at the downstream end of the inlet screen, and leaves the upstream end of the inlet screen with fewer obstructions to block the free flow of water.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1994Date of Patent: August 13, 1996Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventor: James W. Patent number: 5534672Abstract: A switch assembly has dual spring biased plungers which operate several switches within a single housing. The dual plungers act independently of one another to provide switch redundancy if required. The plungers have rectangular surfaces with cams, and the switches have cam followers which operate the switches. In an alternative application, some of the switches may be replaced with a printed circuit board and a plunger with multi-finger wiping contacts. The printed circuit board and plunger with multi-finger wiping contacts arrangement allows the switch to produce a signal that is related to the distance of pedal movement. Additionally, a capacitor is provided on the housing for the purposes of filtering any electrical signal produced by electrical contact arching in a switch used in a high voltage circuit. The capacitor is held in the switch assembly by a box and a holding clip. The capacitor's placement in the switching circuit is such that it is in parallel with the switch.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1995Date of Patent: July 9, 1996Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventor: James P. Patent number: 5487528Abstract: A solenoid controlled, pilot actuated inlet water valve apparatus has an inlet connected to a residential water source pipe and an outlet connected to an appliance such as a dishwasher or clothes washing machine. The inlet water valve contains a flow control, a noise suppressor, a pilot valve controlled by an electrically operated armature, and a main valve composed of a diaphragm, diaphragm insert, valving surface and bleed passage. The noise suppressor is located downstream of the flow control and reduces water velocity by first radially dispersing incoming water to the periphery of the noise suppressor in a dispersion chamber. Next, water passes through passage holes located around the periphery of the noise suppressor into a recombining chamber with it is directed toward a central exit port. When water moves in the recombining chamber toward the central exit port, the water converges from different directions further reducing water velocity and noise caused by cavitation.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1993Date of Patent: January 30, 1996Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventor: James W.
