  • Patent number: 6745547
Abstract: A cartridge is provided that can be attached in depending relation to the chute of a bagging machine in order to supply material to form several bags. The cartridge employs a hollow mandrel on which a tube of plastic film is mounted in a collapsed state. The tube is capable of being pulled off the mandrel in an automatic manner. The cartridge also includes a spreader bar at the lower end of the mandrel to brake the movement of the tube off the mandrel when in use.

  • Patent number: 6745851
Abstract: A method and a system are described for processing of drilling fluid from a drilling hole (10) in an underwater well to a floating drilling rig or drilling vessel, comprising a sealing device (12) connected to a well head, a pump module (14) to transport drilling fluid, a treatment plant for treatment of drilling fluid, or a storage installation. Before a blow-out valve is connected to the well head and before a riser is connected between the drilling hole and the floating drilling rig or drilling vessel, the pump module (14) placed on the ocean bed transports drilling fluid from the drilling hold (10) on the ocean bed to the floating drilling rig or drilling vessel.

  • Patent number: 6745019
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and a system for reducing leakage of LO to the RF-port (LLO) in a real system that converts the frequency of a first signal, i.e. the LO signal, by mixing the first signal with a second supplied signal SI to a third signal SO of a frequency that is different from the frequency of the first and second signal. More specifically the invention relates to a process and a system that are applied to suppress LLO in real image reject balanced passive mode transistor mixers. Further, the invention also relates to a balanced passive mode transistor mixer and an image reject balanced mixer to be used in said process and system.

  • Patent number: 6723264
Abstract: The biodegradable acting material is made from starch with various additives such as nucleators and plasticizer. The blowing agent used for foaming of the starch material may be alcohol or water. The material is made by mixing a charge of starch, nucleator and plasticizer to form a flowable mass which is then injected on the fly with the blowing agent, i.e. alcohol and/or water. Thereafter, the flowable mass is extruded through a dye and is either cooled to form a latent-foaming material or is allowed to expand into a foamed state. The starch which is used may be a corn starch, potato starch or the like.

  • Patent number: 6699221
Abstract: The over-the-needle catheter is provided with a septum seal within the hub of the catheter. The introducer needle passes through the septum seal and into the catheter. Upon removal of the introducer needle, the septum seal reseals so that blood is prevented from flowing from the patient out of the hub. A male luer adaptor is used to form a connection, for example, to an IV bag by pushing the seal onto a tube secured within the hub and communicating with the catheter or, in another embodiment, by pushing a piercing ring through a slit in the septum seal to form a permanent lumen.

  • Patent number: 6672131
Abstract: A description is given of a method for operating a measuring instrument (10) fitted onto the surface (16) of a fluid carrying body (18), in particular a hollow body such as a pipe, which transports multiphase fluid flows, especially fluids containing solid particles, wherein acoustic data related to fractions and amounts of the different phases in the fluid flow are registered.

  • Patent number: 6655743
Abstract: The seat belt module is electronically controlled using magneto-rheological fluid. A CPU delivers a signal to an electromagnetic coil within the module at the beginning of a crash to cause the viscosity of the magneto-rheological fluid to increase sufficient to lock the spool on which the seat belt is wound against rotation. Thereafter, a subsequent signal is delivered by the CPU to the coil to reduce the magnetic field and the viscosity of the magneto-rheological fluid allowing the spool to be unwound in a programmed manner so as to reduce the forces imposed on an occupant by the seat belt. The CPU may be pre-programmed in response to signals from sensors throughout the vehicle that deliver signals corresponding to the characteristics of the occupant and may be programmed in response to signals from these sensors and from an air bag to respond in real time.

  • Patent number: 6641464
Abstract: A polishing bar is provided with a plurality of backings that are carried via blocks of impact absorbent material on a bar of greater stiffness. Each backing is shaped with two surfaces at an angle to each other. A polishing tape is disposed over the angled surfaces of each backing. The portion of the polishing tape over the forward surface of the backing is employed to polish the angled edge of the top wafer of a rotating bonded wafer pair.

  • Patent number: 6634994
Abstract: The jump rope device employs DC motors to rotate two ropes and a dual closed loop control system is used to synchronize the turning movements of the two ropes. An infrared beam is used to monitor the use of the machine by a user. Each motor housing is mounted on a tripod support which can be collapsed for ease of transportation and storage. A floor mat with sensors may be employed for various exercises.

  • Patent number: 6629875
Abstract: The wafer edge processing unit may be a stand alone unit or may be incorporated in existing grinding machines. The processing unit employs a plurality of tapes which are coated with differing grades of grit to sequentially polish the edge of a rotating wafer or to remove an edge bead from a processed wafer or the other substrate. The tapes are mounted on a backing block which is rotated to move the tapes from a line contact with the top bevel of the wafer to a line contact with the bottom bevel of the wafer. Fresh surfaces of the tapes are presented to successive wafers by rotating the spools on which the tapes are mounted. The wafer may be moved in small increments along a Y-axis and/or an X-axis relative to a tape during polishing to improve the polishing operation.

  • Patent number: 6626126
Abstract: A davit device (20) is arranged suspended over an associated boat (123) onboard a ship (25) or similar vessel. Horizontally, telescopically displaceable davit arms (121, 121) can move the boat (123) from a parking position to a launching position, and vice versa, while a hoisting device (122) can move the boat (23, 123) vertically. In that the hoisting device (122) is secure to the radially innermost, axially extendable telescope part (121a, 121a) of the davit arms (121,121), the vertical and horizontal movements can be carried out independently, in a controlled way.

  • Patent number: 6607519
Abstract: The suction tube set employs a compressed cellulosic sponge mass as a fluid absorber in the suction line for absorbing an amount of fluid, for example 1.5 cc, without any significant increase in resistance to air flow. The compressed sponge mass is secured in place within a tubular housing of the suction tube set with a gap formed between each end of the sponge mass and an end cap of the housing to avoid blockage of air flow.
