Abstract: The invention provides, in a general sense, a new labeling strategy employing 99mTc chelated with ethylenedicysteine (EC). EC is conjugated with a variety of ligands and chelated to 99mTc for use as an imaging agent for tissue-specific diseases. The drug conjugates of the invention may also be used as a prognostic tool or as a tool to deliver therapeutics to specific sites within a mammalian body. Kits for use in tissue-specific disease imaging are also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention comprise a guidance system and method for providing an angular orientation of a medical device. The system and method may utilize a fluid-filled portion with a position indicator that floats in the fluid contained within the fluid-filled portion. The guidance system may be coupled to the medical device so that when the angular orientation of the guidance system is varied, the position indicator moves within the fluid-filled portion. The position of the position indicator is designated by angle gradations on the outer portion of the fluid-filled portion.

Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, a method comprises transmitting an optical signal via the optical line, measuring a relative change in spectral intensity of the optical signal near a clock frequency (or half of that frequency) while varying a polarization of the optical signal between a first state of polarization and a second state of polarization, and using the relative change in spectral intensity of the optical signal to determine and correct the DGD of the optical line. Abstract: The remaining capacity of a battery may be monitored with a microprocessor by integrating a voltage measured across a current sense resistor coupled in series with the battery. The microprocessor may measure electrons passing through the battery by sampling the integrator and summing the values recorded from the integrator. Each time the integrator is sampled, the microprocessor may reset the integrator to prevent the integrator from saturating. The remaining capacity of the battery may be calculated based on calibration values and the sum of electrons measured by the integrator. The remaining capacity may be communicating to remote users through a network and displayed in an executive dashboard.

Abstract: A process for producing creatine, creatine monohydrate or guanidinoacetic acid is proposed, wherein firstly N-methylethanolamine or ethanolamine is catalytically dehydrogenated in each case in alkaline solution and the sarcosinate or glycinate solutions that are obtained in this manner are finally reacted under acidic conditions with a guanylating agent such as for example O-alkylisourea or cyanamide. In this manner products are obtained in high yields and very good purity where in contrast to the prior art no traces whatsoever of hydrocyanic acid, formaldehyde, chloroacetic acid or ammonia are present. The formation of the toxicologically critical dihydrotriazine is also avoided.
