Abstract: A loop ostomy device includes a flexible rod having coupling members at its ends. The rod is rigid enough to support a bowel loop but flexible enough to bend into a loop and couple its ends together. Methods for using the appliance are also disclosed.

Abstract: A combined filter and skimmer assembly for ponds includes a submersible filter box containing replaceable filter media, the filter box having a water inlet, a skimmer coupling coupled to an upstanding conduit coupled to a skimmer head, and a water outlet adapted to be coupled to an underwater pump. According to the presently preferred embodiment, the filter box is rectangular with a removable lid. The lid has a raised central portion wherein lies the water inlet. The water inlet is preferably adjustable as to the size of the inlet. The skimmer coupling is also located in the raised portion of the lid and is spaced apart from the water inlet. According to the presently preferred embodiment, the skimmer head preferably includes a floating cup which automatically adjusts to the level of the surface of the pond. Optionally the floating cup is free to tilt to adjust for an angular difference between the surface of the lid and the surface of the pond.

Abstract: A vehicle for lifting and transporting a container which is loaded and unloaded from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle includes a base assembly attached to the vehicle with a substantially L-shaped boom pivotably attached to the base assembly. The substantially L-shaped boom has two segments connected to one another with a first segment of being pivotably attached to the left side or the base assembly and the second segment being pivotably attached to the right side of the base assembly. Each of the two segments has an upper portion and a lower portion with the lower portions being at an obtuse angle of from over 90° to approximately 140° relative to the upper portions. The pivotable attachment of the boom being attached to the lower portion of each of the segments to the base assembly, so that upon pivoting the boom, the upper portion of each of the two segments is pivoted from a substantially vertical position to a substantially horizontal position during a loading procedure.

Abstract: A pushchair of the type which includes a chassis which is born upon one or more primary wheels on a primary wheel bearing axis, the chassis further having one or more forward and/or rear secondary wheel(s) or stabilizer(s) that in normal use of the pushchair during horizontal travel is/are not ground engaging but which limit tilting of the pushchair about the primary axis, the pushchair being characterized in that it further includes a selectively operable stabilizer which may be deployed to bring a prop into ground engagement to substantially prevent tilting of the pushchair about the primary wheel axis when the pushchair is stationary.

Abstract: The invention relates to a bandage or wound dressing fabricated from a natural or synthetic film-forming material, such as a hydrophobic polymeric membrane, incorporating a therapeutically effective amount of one or more therapeutically active (e.g. anti-microbial) compounds, including Triclosan, within the matrix thereof. The incorporation of Triclosan provides continuous inherent control of the growth of a broad range of microorganisms, which promotes better wound care management and wound healing.

Abstract: A transducer for detecting position in three generally orthogonal directions has a base unit (10), a mobile unit (20) and a hollow elongate arm (6) which is fixed to the base unit and is angularly movable relative to the base unit such that in use it extends generally towards the mobile unit. A variable length coupling line (4) coupling the base unit to the mobile unit passes through the guide arm and thus measurement of the angular position of the guide arm and the extended length of the coupling length of the coupling line enables the relative positions of the base unit and the mobile unit to be calculated. The angle made between the coupling line and the mobile unit may also be measured which allows the position of distal parts of the mobile unit to be determined relative to the base unit.

Abstract: A filtration apparatus includes a laundry waste sump, a primary 50 micron static screen filter, a 9,000 gallon equalization tank, at least one secondary media/carbon filter, a sludge holding tank with a pump to return excess water to the equalization tank, a backwash pump, an air blower, and a clear well tank water source for backwash. An exemplary embodiment of the invention also includes a surge tank between the primary and secondary filters and a surge tank between the secondary filter and the clear well tank.

Abstract: A circular mirror has a frame with peripheral groove and a peripherally mounted gooseneck which is dimensioned to be wrapped around the periphery of the frame and received in the groove. According to the invention, the gooseneck is long enough so that it can be used to support the mirror in a variety of ways. For example, the gooseneck can be extended its full length with its end bent into a hook and then hung from a door. The gooseneck can also be bent into a semi-circle or similar configuration to be used as a table top stand.

Abstract: The present invention relates to natural teas and a method of preparing the same, which is effective in increasing sexual ability or stamina. According to the present invention, there are provided relatively inexpensive natural teas in the form of liquid natural teas, powders, segments, or concentrated extracts, in which Rhodiola sachalinensis, and Cuscutae Semens and/or Torilidis Fructus; Rhodiola sachalinensis and a parasitic plant; or a mixture of all the above herbs is contained as principal elements, to which at least one species selected from the group consisting of Alnus japonica, Salviae Radix, Polyglae Radix, schizandra and lycium is optionally added. Where the natural teas of the present invention are drunk two times one day, an excellent effect of increasing stamina can be obtained.

Abstract: A portable battery powered high intensity lighting system that produces solar quality illumination at four to six times the efficiency of comparable incandescent lighting systems includes a light head and a power source. The light head contains an HID (high intensity discharge) arc lamp. A sealed enclosure containing a ballast is attached immediately adjacent to the lamp assembly. The ballast enclosure is preferably potted with a thermally conductive epoxy.

Abstract: A filtration apparatus includes a filter element disposed at a 45 degree angle defining an upper chamber for solids and a lower chamber for liquid. A trough is disposed at the lower end of the filter element. The floor of the trough funnels toward a central drain and an overflow drain is located approximately 8 inches above the trough floor. The lower chamber is provided with a drain for recirculating water to a sprayer above the filter element and is also provided with an overflow drain approximately 8 inches above the floor.

Abstract: A display device for use on a moving vehicle, said display device comprising: (i) a flexible, inflatable tube with a mouth and a tail end, said tube being adapted such that air currents can flow through the tube and in doing so cause the tube to inflate; (ii) a reinforced collar region around the mouth of the tube; (iii) a first attachment means being an integral part of or adapted to attach to a vehicle; (iv) a second attachment means adapted to attach the collar region of tube to the first attachment means on the motor vehicle; and wherein the sides of the tube are adapted to display advertising or other display material.

Abstract: A method of sealing an opening portion of a packaging container by utilizing fusion bonding of the base material, together with an apparatus and method for inspecting the sealed portion. The container material has a welding layer as the innermost layer. The welding layer is melted at a seal portion defined along the edge of the opening portion of the container. A part of the melt from the welding layer is allowed to flow out from the edge of the opening portion, thereby sealing the seal portion and also forming an efflux layer outside the opening portion by the melt flowing out and solidified. An image of at least a part of the sealed portion and its vicinities is taken. At least a part of the image is defined as an inspection region. The image of the inspection region is subjected to predetermined image processing to calculate data concerning the efflux layer formed outside the sealed portion.

Abstract: A stirrer for a planetary mixer has an upper central hub with two outwardly extending horizontal arms and two helical stirring elements, one depending from each arm. According to the presently preferred embodiments, the cross sectional area of the stirring elements is large enough that no bottom crossbar is necessary. The pitch angle of each stirring element is preferably constant from top to bottom. The leading side of the stirring elements has a flat surface whereas the trailing side is curved. The flat surface increases in size moving toward the bottom of the stirring element.

Abstract: A hypodermic needle structure for making shallow injections of local anesthetic into human tissue under relatively high pressure in which an elastomeric sheath on the needle shank bears against the punctured tissue immediately surrounding the needle shank to form a pressure seal against leakage of the anesthetic liquid and of the puncture hole to facilitate the maintenance of relatively high liquid pressures at the lumen of the needle while the liquid works its way through connected tissue to the targeted nerve site.

Abstract: A culture tray for the rooting of young plants in parallel rows including an open-top housing having a base wall and a peripherally extending edge. The housing-base wall defines a plurality of transversely extending channels which accommodate a multiplicity of generally cup-shaped pots having bottom walls with a drainage hole. The tray-base wall is arranged at a lower position in relation to the surrounding edge and the transversely directed channels are provided in the tray base wall at a certain distance apart.

Abstract: A spout-equipped bag feed apparatus allows an increased number of spout-equipped bags to be stored. A plurality of conveyor rails are attached to a conveying device at a predetermined space and carried along an endless track. Each conveyor rail is capable of being loaded with and unloaded of a plurality of spout-equipped bags from one end thereof and capable of supporting the spout portions of the bags in such a manner that the bags are movable in the axial direction. Loading of bags into the conveyor rail is effected with a bag loading tool capable of being loaded with and unloaded of bags from one end thereof and capable of supporting the spout portions of the bags in such a manner that the bags are movable in the axial direction. The one end of the bag loading tool is butted against the one end of the conveyor rail, and the bags are pushed into the conveyor rail.
