  • Patent number: 5005250
Abstract: In stationary equipment including a system for successively conveying curved glass sheets in a linear horizontal pathway through washing and rinsing zones, and than a drying zone, upper and lower air knife assemblies are utilized in the drying zone for simultaneously directing pressurized air streams on the opposite broad surfaces of the glass sheets to effect drying action. Each air knife assembly comprises an elongated bendable casing formed into a plenum disposed transverse to the pathway, with each plenum having a longitudinally extending slot serving as an orifice for emitting the air stream against the glass surface. The slot is defined by parallel spaced flexible strips sealed in longitudinal disposition on the casing. The strips, with the casing to which they are sealed, are adapted to be selectively adjustably shaped to generally conform to various glass sheet configurations.

  • Patent number: 4969917
Abstract: A device permitting movement of a cow's tail while the cow is in its stall and which will maintain the tail elevated when the animal is lying down to avoid tail contact with the animal's droppings. The device includes an elongated elastic cord for extension from a fixed overhead point to an integral tubular sleeve wrapped on the animal's tail near its end to absorb the shock of directional change when the animal swings its tail. The sleeve is adapted to retain its normal position adjacent the tail's distal end and to slip free from its engagement on the tail if the animal breaks free from its stall, thereby avoiding tail injury.

  • Patent number: 4967693
Abstract: A device mounted above a cow in its stall for causing the animal to move rearwardly by applying pressure to its shoulders when the animal arches its back for the purpose of defecating or urinating. By moving rearwardly, the animal's droppings will be deposited in the stall's gutter. The device includes a pair of spaced rod members interconnected by a connecting rod. One of the rod members has an integral elongated bar at its lower end situated horizontally above the animal's shoulders and extends normal to the stall's length. The connecting rod includes pivot shafts on each end with each supporting a pair of knob-controlled mating clutch members for manually effecting their release and binding engagement. Manual control of the clutch members permits the rod members and connecting rod to readily located the elongated bar in any desired position.

  • Patent number: 4961668
Abstract: A hub assembly comprising a pair of hub members, each having a tubular body or bushing portion which is centrally bored to enable the hub members to be slid onto a shaft or axle of uniform circular cross-section. The hub members are adapted to be disposed on the shaft to support a wheel element, and their tubular bodies are adapted to be interfitted one in the other, thus establishing an annular seat for the wheel element. One of the tubular bodies in insertably slidably received into a substantially large bore of the other tubular body and both tubular bodies are configured such that they bindingly lock to each other and to the shaft as a function of limited manual rotation of one hub member relative to the other. Reverse rotation acts to release the locking action.

  • Patent number: 4951325
Abstract: For a toilet structure or lavatory bowl having a hinged seat and lid, a device is provided for attachment on the lid undersurface for automatically starting the seat to pivot on its hinge from its upright and toward its horizontal position. The device comprises a planar base secured to the lid and a movable element preferably carried at the end of a leaf spring projecting at an acute angle to the base. The movable element is temporarily adhered to the outer surface of the base when it is driven into contact therewith by the force of the seat being pivotally raised to its upright position. The adherence of the movable member to the base is adapted to be automatically released after a brief time delay whereby it snaps back to its original normal position, thereby impacting against the seat and causing the seat to pivot a sufficient distance from its generally upright position whereby the force of gravity completes the return of the seat to its horizontal disposition.
