  • Patent number: 4893606
Abstract: The invention disclosed utilizes distributed mass in an inertial archery bow stabilizer and vibration damper. It employs internal flow limiting structure and a high density fluid inertial mass. The device comprises two major subassemblies. The first subassembly is a stabilizing element which includes an elongated casing plugged at each end, and having therein the flow limiting structure, preferably in the form of baffles, and fluid to provide the arrow release stabilization and vibration damping effect, the latter being influenced in its action by the presence and design of the baffles. The second subassembly is a housing which holds the first subassembly and preferably comprises a rigid tube or outer housing, end plugs, mounting structure at one end of the tube, and a cushioning bushing. The thrust stabilization is achieved by the relatively large mass of high density fluid retained within the rigid tube enclosing the stabilizing subassembly.

  • Patent number: 4820474
Abstract: A reactor stud hole plug unit having a mandrel with a central stem having a threaded upper portion, a longitudinal passageway extending therethrough and a mandrel plate attached to the lower end. The mandrel plate has threads on its periphery which engage internal threads on a stud hole in a nuclear reactor, and an annular stop is located at the upper end of the threads on the mandrel plate which engages a shoulder on the cavity when the mandrel plate is in position in a stud hole. A compression plate with a central opening having a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the upper portion of the mandrel stem fits over the mandrel stem, and an annular sealing ring is positioned around the periphery of the mandrel plate above the annular shoulder and in contact with the compression plate when the compression plate is positioned over the mandrel stem.

  • Patent number: 4820078
Abstract: Apparatus for patching or filling paved road surface cracks or joints includes means for simultaneously dispensing molten asphalt bitumen and monofilament strands of reinforcing fiber, wherein fiber roving is chopped into discrete segments and intermixed with the molten asphalt as the patching or joint filling application occurs. The apparatus is intended to be mounted on a mobile rig to facilitate its use, and includes an arrangement wherein the molten asphalt is continuously pumped out to a dispensing nozzle assembly and back to the storage reservoir on the rig whereby the flow maintains a continuous circuit from which the molten asphalt is selectively withdrawn for use in patching and filling operations. Also included is a means for selectively purging the circuit after use of the apparatus, and the method of utilizing the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4695092
Abstract: A padded liner, primarily for use beneath an infant seated in a safety automobile seat, preferably in the form of a fanciful animal figure, comprises discretely-formed cushions joined by sewing at appropriate edges, thereby forming a substantially self-standing unit. The padded cushions or sections of the unit are shaped and adapted to provide comfort and support, to an infant seated thereagainst, in a manner not normally found in an unlined typical safety seat in a vehicle. Further, the shape of the sections enables conformity to an infant's growth pattern such that the liner contributes to the traveling comfort for the infant during the entire time period that the supporting safety seat is usable for the infant's transport. The liner has structural characteristics and features enabling it to be used to similar advantage in other forms of chairs or seats designed for use by small children.

  • Patent number: 4488360
Abstract: A hand-held instrument for aligning the point of a lathe cutting tool on the level of the longitudinal axis of a cylindrical work piece mounted for rotation in a lathe. The instrument comprises a shaft with a visually-ascertainable gauge, preferably in the form of a spirit level, fixedly secured to one end of the shaft, and a counterweight at the other end of the shaft. The instrument is adapted to be temporarily placed and lightly suspended by the pressure between the point of the carriage-mounted cutting tool and the cylindrical work piece, with the spirit level end of the instrument projecting upwardly whereby vertical adjustment of the cutting tool to the desired horizontal alignment with the work piece axis is accomplished when the spirit level indicates the shaft of the instrument is oriented at true vertical.

  • Patent number: 4470321
Abstract: A foot actuated gear shifting device is provided for a motorcycle which is compatible with current motorcycle structures such that it could be included as standard equipment or be utilized as an accessory attachment to simplify the shifting action accomplished by one foot of the operator. The structure of the invention includes a unitary foot pedal adapted to be installed in the normal position where the operator rests his left foot. The pedal is adapted to support the entire foot of the operator and pivot about a point beneath the foot arch. The forward end of the pedal is connected to the outer end of the motorcycle's gear shift lever such that shifting action can be accomplished by the operator causing the pedal to rock forwardly or rearwardly; consistent with the direction in which he wishes to move the gear shift lever.
