  • Patent number: 6217558
Abstract: An apparatus for vascular access devices such as syringes and guidewires placement devices capable of differentiating type of blood vessel penetrated by a cannula, including a chamber in flow communication with the cannula, the chamber being adapted to house a vacuum pressure to accelerate backflow of blood from a blood vessel penetrated by the cannula and a slideable, displaceable member within the chamber, such as a piston, displaceable against a calibrated pressure sensitive resilient member such as a spring. The displaceable member is displaced against the pressure sensitive spring rearwardly by the blood pressure indicating to the operator the type of blood vessel penetrated by the cannula by the amount of rearward displacement of the piston in respect to a point reference tab located on the side wall of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6200133
Abstract: An adjustable and customized dental appliance for the mouth of an athlete is comprised of a composite occlusal posterior pad for each side of the posterior teeth engageable with the occlusal surfaces to space apart the teeth and to absorb shock and clenching stress. An adjustable band or wire is provided connecting the posterior pads together behind the anterior teeth and out of the way of the tongue to maintain the position of the occlusal posterior pads within the mouth during use and to prevent loss of the pads such as by swallowing.

  • Patent number: 6195436
Abstract: A multi-station audio distribution apparatus having at least two listening stations, a data control mechanism and a listening station interface mechanism disposed between the listening stations and the data control mechanism. Each of the listening stations has a user input in the form of a bar code scanner to enter an audio material selection and each has an audio output. The data control mechanism retrieves digitized audio material corresponding to each of the user's audio material selections. The listening station interface mechanism transfers the user's inputs from each of the listening stations to the data control mechanism, receives the digitized audio materials corresponding to each user's input from the data control mechanism, converts the digital audio materials to analog audio signals and transfers the analog audio signals to each of the respective listening stations for the audio output.

  • Patent number: 6170222
Abstract: An apparatus which is useful on pitched roofs includes structural features which help keep roofing materials from sliding off the roof. The apparatus also protects roofers from heat and abrasion from the roof surface on which they are working. A substantially solid foam rubber wedge forms one component of the apparatus, and a substantially planar pad forms the other component of the apparatus. These components are placed in proximity to each other so that the roofer, when situated on the pad, can readily reach roofing materials disposed against the wedge. The wedge resiliently compresses when roofing materials are placed on its upper surface. This resilient compression, the angle of orientation of the wedge's upper surface, and the frictional engagement of the wedge with the roof surface each contribute in varying degrees to holding roofing materials in position on the roof.

  • Patent number: 6167830
Abstract: A manual trim tab for a power boat having a transom at the stern includes: a first bracket adapted to be mounted to the boat's transom near the surface of the water, the first bracket further having a first portion for mounting to the transom, a second portion extending downwardly from the first portion, and a third portion having a shelf, the shelf being substantially perpendicular to the first portion; a trim plate pivotally mounted on the first bracket by a lip pivotally engaging the shelf; a second bracket adapted to be mounted to the boat's transom above the first bracket; a lower adjustment rod pivotally mounted to the trim plate; an upper adjustment rod pivotally mounted to the second bracket and slidingly engaging the lower adjustment rod, thereby varying the angle at which the trim plate meets the watcr's surface; and a locking mechanism for preventing movement of the upper adjustment rod relative to the lower adjustment rod.
