  • Patent number: 6340471
Abstract: A method for producing a delivery system for transporting pharmaceuticals and other ingredients in a chewable and palatable form is provided. The delivery system comprises a lipid source in which drug actives are homogeneously suspended to form a high solids suspension which can be solidified and molded into an oral dosage form. The lipid source provides an external phase comprising the carrier for the suspension and also provides a hydrophobic film which continuously coats the hydrophilic drug actives and other ingredients. The suspension exhibits pseudoplastic and thixotropic properties which enable it to suspend a large volume of particles relative to the lipid source. The drug particles may be pre-encapsulated before mixing in with the suspension, which provides taste-masking and controlled release qualities to the products formed from the delivery system.

  • Patent number: 4847026
Abstract: A method for producing simulated rocks by spraying a high density polyurethane elastomer in a flexible mold. The method includes reproducing a rock in molded form, not limited in size. A flexible mold is prepared by applying numerous coats of latex rubber upon the rock exterior in combination with a fabric embedded within the rubber latex layers. A supporting cradle for the latex mold is produced by spraying a low density urethane foam composition over the latex mold. The mold and cradle are stripped from the rock and are sprayed with a two component structural urethane system employing an isocyanate component and a polyol component with appropriate catalysts fillers and additives. The structural urethane elastomer is built up to substantial thickness to provide a strong load bearing polyurethane molded rock simulating the original rock surface with curing taking place in a matter of seconds or minutes.

  • Patent number: 4779553
Abstract: An automatic rudder attachment for outboard jet motors. A rudder attachment is designed to provide steering capability at low or drifting speeds when the jet thrust is reduced and during reverse direction when the jet thrust is reversed. The rudder swings up to a retracted position when the jet motor is operating and provides sufficient thrust for steering. The rudder is pivotally attached over the jet nozzle whereby the water race effects the vertical swing of the rudder.

  • Patent number: 4779902
Abstract: Polyolefin pipe having an integral end connection. The pipe is fabricated with male and female end connections in order that the pipe may be press-fitted together with the interior and exterior forming a flush uniterrupted surface. One or more radial ribs and grooves are formed on the interior of the female connection while a registering series of ribs and grooves are formed on the exterior of the male connection. The ends of the pipe are bevelled in order that the ends pressed together engage and by the slight resiliency of the polyolefin pipe construction permit the slight expansion and contraction of the ends to provide a locking interfit of the respective ribs and grooves in the two ends. The wall thicknesses of the end connection and width of the ribs and grooves are particularly dimensioned in order that the male end may be inserted to a complete lock position without premature engagement and that should failure occur, it be at the readily observable pipe wall rather than in internal rib.

  • Patent number: 4765785
Abstract: A machine for drilling holes in the deck of a flat bed or other type trailer. The machine has a cross beam and rails for a wheeled carriage supporting a drill press for drilling holes in the deck in an X-direction across the deck. The cross beam and rails are carried upon wheeled trucks which are moveable longitudinally along the length of the deck in a Y-direction. The counteract thrust and to anchor the machine, adjustable clamps are provided at opposite ends of the cross beam which bear against the underside or other suitable fastening point of the trailer. The cross beam ties the machine together in providing support for the wheeled carriage, the rails, wheeled trucks and the clamps to provide a rugged and easily maneuverable machine for moving a drill press in any desired X-Y direction.

  • Patent number: 4757407
Abstract: A protective tab for floppy disks having an opening that is designed to be covered to prevent accidental erasure of any recording thereon. The protective tab has an integral clamshell construction such that it can be pried opened to be positioned over the floppy disk jacket opening and snapped closed to engage the border of the floppy disk jacket and cover the opening. A characterized opening having a narrow throat is punched out over the regular opening in the floppy disk jacket. This opening can either be manufactured into the floppy disk jacket, or retrofitted into a pre-existing conventional disk jacket by use of a special punch which is provided for cutting out the characterized opening. The protective tab has a mating characterized pad on the inside of one of the clamshell halves which is inserted in the disk opening. When closed the protective tab can not be accidentally pulled out unless purposely opened.

  • Patent number: 4723630
Abstract: An integrated tree climbing apparatus. The apparatus is in the form of a chair stand comprised of a seat rest and an adjustable foot rest. The two rests are connected to each other in a hinged relationship by supporting arms which extend past and straddle the tree and are engagable with a V-shaped knife clamp to effect a gripping action. The supporting arms are diagonally mounted on the side of the seat and a leg of the foot rest and are angled upward to accommodate the tree. The hinged aspect of the foot rest allows it to be moved to various angles according to the needs of the user. A V-brace is incorporated into the seat rest to complete the clamping structure. The rear V-shaped knife clamp is sheathed on its ends to slide on the supporting arms. Quick-connect linchpins are employed for simplicity and economy. Due to the hinging and pivotal connections of the members, the apparatus easily folds down into a compact unit as a simulated backpack frame for easy portability.

  • Patent number: 4676682
Abstract: A feeder device for feeding tags, cards, nameplates and the like to a rotary printer or marking machine. The feeder device is comprised of a chute for receiving a stack of tags. A reciprocatory pusher plate or shuttle is adapted to push a bottom-most tag through a narrow slot in a side wall of the chute onto a table of the printer. The table has a pair of guard rails spaced from one another and disposed in a converging relationship. The tags are pushed into a wide portion between the rails and advance into a tag engaging restricted portion between the rails where one of the rails is biasedly engageable against an edge of the tag. The tag is guided in a controlled manner as it is pushed underneath a printing wheel where the desired printing information is printed upon it.
