  • Patent number: 8220950
Abstract: A portable distress light including a plurality of light emitting diodes and a light mode switch to power the diodes so as to provide a flashing white light, a flashing infrared light, a flashing blue light and a steady white light. Status indicators are included on the device to correspondingly identify the operative mode selected. The light emitting diodes include top-emitting diodes and side-emitting diodes that are arranged on a printed circuit board in a variety of configurations to provide an optimum light pattern. Exemplary configurations include positioning the light emitting diodes into a triangular pattern, and a square or rectangular pattern. The distress device further includes a variety of reflectors that are disposed over the light emitting diodes to provide a horizontally dispersed light pattern. An operating circuit provides the benefit of a delay period between mode selections.

  • Patent number: 8209782
Abstract: A motorcycle helmet enhancing horn having a horn shaped, hollow body initiating at a broad base tapering to a distal point. The horn arches is formed about a curved central axis spanning between a center of the broad base and a central point of the distal end. The central axis can be a single or compound curved shape. A mounting flange supports the horn body. The mounting flange is contiguous about and extends substantially perpendicularly outward from the base edge. An adhesive is applied to the bonding surface of the mounting flange for securing the horn to a motorcycle helmet. The horns can be provided in mirror image pairs having individual flanges or in a series assembled in a linear, spatial arrangement on a single flange. The flanges are shaped in a compound curve for mating to an outer surface of a motorcycle helmet.

  • Patent number: 8209820
Abstract: A cord-retaining fastener for holding bundled cords, wires, hoses, cords, ropes, cables, or other elongated articles is provided and includes a flexible elongated webbed strap of sufficient length to extend around the bundled cord, a narrow elongated rectangular sleeve, and a buckle or other strap-end-retaining device. The rectangular sleeve captively receives two portions of an intermediary segment of the elongated webbed strap to form a fastener-attaching loop, which is positioned around an end of the cord to releasably affix the fastener to the cord. The buckle is secured near a first end of the webbed strap to frictionally engage a second end of the webbed strap, forming a cord-binding loop to encircle and releasably hold the bundled cord. Thus the cord-retaining fastener conveniently remains attached near the end of the cord via the fastener-attaching loop, ready to buckle around the coils of the cord when it is bundled.

  • Patent number: 8205529
Abstract: A low profile ratchet wrench incorporates a ratchet gear drive having a female section of a socket or tool drive interface. The socket incorporates a male section for attaching the socket to a ratchet drive head section. By utilizing a female section of the interface in the wrench, the projected height of the socket is reduced as compared to a standard socket. An optional female section can be a cavity provided within the male section of the socket or other tool, allowing the tool to be used on both a standard wrench and a low profile wrench. A snap ring is disposed within a recession about an engaging end of the male section. The snap ring rests against a chamfer in a peripheral edge of the female drive tool interface securing the socket with the gear. Accessories can include attaching section style adapters, size adjusting adapters, extensions, universal joints, and wobble features.

  • Patent number: 8201510
Abstract: A collapsible sail frame for a watercraft. The sail frame includes a shaft, a skeletal assembly, and a sail. The shaft has a tip and a handle. The skeletal assembly includes ribs, struts, a first ring and a second ring. The sail is attached on the ribs. First pivoting joints connect ribs to the first ring, with ribs extending in a radial pattern. Second pivoting joints connect struts to the second ring. Third pivoting joints connect struts to ribs. The first ring is fixed on the shaft and the second ring is slidably mounted on the shaft so as to be manually operable for deploying the skeletal assembly, to spread the sail. A loop is provided on the deck of the watercraft, for retaining the tip of the shaft and the handle includes a clamp for engaging the deck of the watercraft.

  • Patent number: 8177471
Abstract: A goods handling' apparatus for a cargo storage and transport vehicle includes a movable cargo platform continuous with a portion of cargo enclosure floor, when the cargo platform is in an upper position. Cargo may be slid between the trailer floor and the cargo platform. A vertical actuator raises and lowers the cargo platform between the upper position and a lower position atop the ground or other vehicle support surface whereupon cargo may be slid between the cargo platform and the ground or other positions. The cargo platform is disposed substantially within the plan perimeter of the floor of the cargo module during raising and lowering. A modular system may be integrated into the cargo enclosure, or may be incorporated into a modular enclosure for appending to a cargo box of the prior art. An underside is disposed in vertically adjusting communication with the cargo platform.
