Abstract: A vehicle lamp has a housing, a light-transmissive shield covering the housing that extends across a corner area of the vehicle, at least one lamp chamber in the housing in which a light source is positioned, and a Fresnel lens having concentrically arranged prism rings located between the light source and the light-transmissive shield adjacent to the light-transmissive shield in at least partial area. The Fresnel lens has at least one curved partial area, in order to make manufacturing as simple as possible while achieving an optimal illumination and maintaining proper light distribution. The Fresnel lens is comprised of a first curved partial area having a center of the concentrically arranged prism rings and a second partial area extending up to a side area of the lamp chamber. The partial areas have differing surface geometries and are separated from each other by vertical separating lines.

  • Patent number: 6125620
Abstract: In an agricultural harvester a characteristic of crop material is monitored or measured as the crop material is conveyed through a feed tube by an auger. To obtain a more uniform packing density of the crop material in a sensing region where the measurement is made, a section of the auger flight is removed. An upstream section of flighting pushes the crop material into and through the sensing region and after it has been pushed through the sensing region it is conveyed away from the sensing region by a downstream section of flighting. The velocity of the crop material being pushed through the sensing region is not uniform across the radius of the feed tube and a layer of slowly moving crop material is formed adjacent the wall of the feed tube. A strap-like wiper element is provided in the sensor region to wipe or disperse the slowly moving layer of crop material.

  • Patent number: 6118258
Abstract: An autonomous low power consumption electrical apparatus that has a supply device (8) comprising a single photo-voltaic cell, an electrical accumulator (7), and a voltage booster (10, 11, TR1, TR3) connected between the power source (9) and the accumulator for charging the accumulator. The voltage booster is controlled by a pulse signal having a predetermined frequency. To allow the apparatus to start when the accumulator is completely discharged, the pulse signal can be generated, at least temporarily, by an oscillator that can operate at a very low voltage, that is, the voltage of the single photo-voltaic cell. When the apparatus is a timepiece, the oscillator (2) can be replaced by the oscillator of the time-keeping circuit (1) of the timepiece as soon as the accumulator (9) is sufficiently charged.

  • Patent number: 6093662
Abstract: Process for generating moisture for use in semiconductor manufacturing, the process comprising feeding hydrogen and oxygen into a reactor provided with a platinum-coated catalyst layer on an interior wall, thus enhancing the reactivity between hydrogen and oxygen by catalytic action and instantaneously reacting the reactivity-enhanced hydrogen and oxygen at a temperature below the ignition point to produce moisture without undergoing combustion at a high temperature, wherein the amount of unreacted hydrogen occurring in the generated moisture in starting up or terminating the moisture generating reaction is minimized and wherein undesired reactions such as undesired silicon oxide film coating are avoided. When the generation of moisture is started up by feeding hydrogen and oxygen into the reactor provided with a platinum-coated catalyst layer on the inside wall thereof, oxygen first starts to be fed and, some time after that, the supply of hydrogen is begun.

  • Patent number: 6087663
Abstract: Light guides (1) capable of encoding the transverse and longitudinal coordinates of light emission induced by the interaction of photons in an array of a plurality of the light guides. Each light guide has at least two discrete crystal segments (4) adjacently disposed along a common longitudinal axis of the light guide (1). Between adjacent segments is a boundary layer (7) having less light transmission than the light transmission of the crystal segments (4). A light absorbing mask (8) increases light adsorption in a segment (4). Photons enter the light guide (1) and cause the emission of scintillation light which is delivered in different and resolvable quantities to light sensing devices. The differences in quantity of delivered light is caused by successive decreases in light in part by the boundary layers (7). The differences in quantity of light establish the segment from which the light emission took place.

  • Patent number: 6083103
Abstract: In an agricultural harvester, a characteristic of crop material is sensed as the crop material is moved through a feed tube by an auger having flighting which terminates upstream of a sensing region. The auger flighting conveys crop material into the sensing region where it accumulates and then is pushed from the sensing region by further crop material conveyed into the region. This results in a more uniform packing density of the crop material in the sensing region where the measurement is made, provided the feed tube is oriented vertically or at a small angle relative to vertical. To obtain a uniform packing density when the feed tube is horizontal or inclined only slightly, a butterfly valve is provided downstream of the sensing region. The valve has flaps that are spring biased to a closed position to block the flow of crop material from the sensing region.
