  • Patent number: 6039447
Abstract: An artificial vision system which simulates a retinal image obtained when a subject views a standard measuring object by turning his eyeball with respect to an eyeglass lens. An artificial vision lens system corresponding to an ocular optical system and a CCD camera having a CCD plane corresponding to a retina are provided within an artificial vision camera. Rotary movement of the eyeball centering on its turning point with respect to an eyeglass lens is simulated by turning the artificial vision camera in the horizontal direction by a rotary stage and by turning the glass lens in the vertical direction by another rotary stage. Turning and parallel movement mechanisms are provided under a stage on which the lens and the artificial vision camera are mounted so that the artificial vision camera always points toward a predetermined position on the standard object as viewed through the lens.

  • Patent number: 6036475
Abstract: A cyclonic type combustion apparatus that may be constituted so as to jet out a premixed gas made up of a mixture of a gaseous fuel and air into a cylindrical combustion chamber, from nozzle ports provided on an inside cylinder wall, the combustion apparatus being especially adapted for heating the liquid medium in hot water heaters, smoke tube boilers, and the like. For instance, a premixed gas obtained by mixing a gaseous fuel with air is jetted out into a cylindrical combustion chamber from a nozzle port opened on its inner peripheral surface along the inner peripheral surface in its tangential direction. The combustion chamber is disposed in a storage region containing heating medium water. The peripheral wall of the combustion chamber is constituted to be a heat conductive wall which is in contact with the heating medium water. • Patent number: 6036871
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and apparatus for the separation of heavier from lighter fractions in aqueous slurries by means of centrifugal force. A slurry is made to spin in a separation chamber under influence of differential pressure. The differential pressure, which can amount to several bars, is generated by means of a pressure increasing stage in the form of a transport rotor device (20) which acts in conjunction with a stator arrangement (22). This pressure boosting stage takes place immediately upstream of an inlet of the slurry into the separation chamber (4). Rotor blades of a cyclone rotor device (10) and rotor blades of the transport rotor device (20) can be mounted on the same rotary shaft (5). The separation of floatable fractions in aqueous slurries can be enhanced by presence of micro gas bubbles introduced into the separation chamber (4).

  • Patent number: 6036974
Abstract: Active ingredients such as medicines are mixed with excipient and then kneaded together with binder and solvent such as alcohol or water to prepare a wetted paste. A mold is filled with this paste. Top and bottom surfaces of the paste within the mold are coated with powder such as lubricant in order to avoid possible sticking of the paste to the apparatus during a subsequent compression step. Then a compressive pressure is exerted on the surface of the paste. Thereafter, the tablet is taken from the mold. The molded tablet can contain water-soluble or fat-soluble medicine.

  • Patent number: 6035943
Abstract: An agricultural implement provides improvements in ground-working implements having both a lowered ground-working mode and a raised transport mode wherein structure is provided to offset the effects of the moment forces created in the working mode. A fluid circuit is connected to a fluid actuator for controlling forces exerted thereby between a hitch member and the implement main frame and it is operable in a working mode to exert a resilient biasing force on the hitch member thus enabling pivotal floating motion of the hitch member while simultaneously countering force moments applied to the main frame by the ground-working tool. This system is also operable in a transport mode wherein the actuator exerts sufficient force between the hitch member and the forward end of the main frame as to assist in lifting and maintaining the implement in a raised transport mode.

  • Patent number: 6030552
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing powdery, vitreous carbon, and a paste made therefrom for producing resistive films having predetermined electrical conductivity. In production methods known in the art, pyrolysis of acrylamides is performed in mixture with water-soluble salts and, following pyrolysis, the powdered portion of the vitreous carbon is recovered by dissolving the salt component in water. The vitreous carbon is then dried, and the powder obtained in this manner is pulverized once again, as needed. A disadvantage of this method is that it is very time-consuming. In the solution now recommended, a preferably aromatic polymer is cured into a resin that is cross-linked in three dimensions, and in this state is ground to a powder prior to pyrolysis. Pyrolysis of the resulting powder is performed in a nitrogen atmosphere, so that powdered, vitreous carbons having different resistivities are obtained by using different final pyrolysis temperatures in each pyrolysis process.

  • Patent number: 6025660
Abstract: Transducer, in particular clockwork driving motor, comprising a stator (2) formed of two stator parts (16 and 26) and three cores (18, 19, 20) connecting respectively three magnetic poles (28, 29, 30), defined by the first stator part (16), to the second stator part (26) used to close the magnetic paths of the transducer. The coils (22 and 24) are used to supply the transducer to drive in rotation respectively the two rotors (4 and 6). The coil (23) is connected to detection means (72) used for detecting the rotation of one or other of the two rotors (4 and 6), and in particular, for detecting zero crossing of the induced voltage (or similarly of the induced current) in the coil (23). Detection of zero crossing of the induced voltage is used to provide input signals to the supply means (70) to control driving of the rotors (4 and 6) in an efficient and reliable manner, in particular in a rapid or continuous operating mode, whether in a forward or backward rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 6025814
Abstract: An antenna unit for measuring the velocity of a flowing material by the Doppler effect is particularly suited for use where only a limited space is available. The antenna unit comprises a support block having first and second surfaces disposed at an acute angle (optimally 45.degree.) relative to each other. A printed circuit antenna card having thereon a high gain antenna comprising a phased array of antenna elements is mounted to the second surface and radiates microwave energy toward the first surface. A plate having an opening therein is disposed adjacent the first surface, the plate being made of a material which absorbs radiated energy incident thereon. The support block is provided with a recess for receiving an absorber wedge which absorbs the energy radiated in near side lobes. The absorber wedge and plate shape the radiation pattern so that energy radiated by the antenna intercepts the material at an angle of 45.degree..+-.15.degree. when the first surface is disposed parallel to the axis of flow.
