  • Patent number: 5950926
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sprayer boom lock valve for automating the setup sequence for sprayer operation from the transport position. The lock valve comprises a lever, spring biased toward a valve closing pin, and a cam secured on the secondary boom of the sprayer boom. When the secondary boom is rotated to release wheel locks in the setup sequence, the cam releases the lever which acts on the valve closing pin to close the valve and prevent any further rotation of the secondary boom. The valve is opened again by a linkage which is pulled tight when the sprayer wings are opened, retracting the lever and opening the valve. The hydraulic drive line is then reestablished to complete rotation of the secondary booms.

  • Patent number: 5950478
Abstract: There are provided an even number of paired roll-shift type rolling mills 12a, 12b and a controller 16 for controlling the rolling mills 12a, 12b. Each of upper and lower work rolls 13 of each of the roll-shift type rolling mills has a predetermined crown curve and has a roll shifting mechanism 14 for axially shifting the upper and lower work rolls relative to each other. The controller 16 determines a shift amount of each rolling mill in order to obtain a predetermined cross section shape of a steel plate, shifts the work rolls of the rolling mill on the upstream side paired every rolling coil to thereby disperse wear on the roll surface, and moves the work rolls of the rolling mill on the downstream side of the pair in a predetermined direction by the same distance, thereby canceling the change in the cross section shape of the plate caused by the shifting operation for the wear dispersion.

  • Patent number: 5948373
Abstract: In the installation for decontaminating a liquid effluent contaminated by at least one organic substance, a gaseous combustible is burned in a reactor to produce a flame containing hydroxyl free radicals OH.degree. and oxygen O.sub.2 and that flame is centered on the geometrical axis of the reactor. A helical flow of liquid effluent is produced on the inner cylindrical wall of the reactor to cause a direct contact between the hydroxyl free radicals and the organic substance contaminating the liquid effluent. Having hydroxyl free radicals present, the organic substance is oxidized in liquid phase. The high temperature of the flame enables completion of the oxidation of the organic substance, in liquid phase, by means of the oxygen O.sub.2 present in the flame. At the outlet of the reactor, the liquid and gaseous products are separated; the liquid product is collected while the gaseous product is evacuated.

  • Patent number: 5944979
Abstract: To decontaminate soil, a generally thin porous medium is used. A cathode is applied to one face of the porous medium and an anode is spaced apart from the other face of that porous medium to define a generally thin spacing for receiving a generally thin layer of soil to be decontaminated. An electric potential is applied to the first and second electrodes in view of transferring the contaminants from the thin layer of soil to the porous medium. A porous membrane may be positioned between the thin layer of soil and the anode. The system may be of the conveyor type to enable displacement of the porous medium, the porous membrane, and the layer of soil between the anode and the cathode. Also, the system may comprises a series of at least two pairs of anode and cathode supplied with electric potentials of different amplitudes.
