Patent number: 4224208Abstract: A liquid tire sealing composition containing an organic volatile amine or amine salt soluble therein, which is effective to impart corrosion resistance to the metallic belts of a belted tire. The organic volatile amine or amine salt component is selected from the group consisting of lower alkylamines, lower cycloalkylamines, naphthylamines, morpholines, benzothiazoles and benzoate, carbonate and nitrite salts thereof. The composition is introduced into the metallic-belted tire cavity, and the volatile amine penetrates through the rubber and lays down a protective coating on the metallic belt without harming the metal to rubber bonding.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1979Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: New World Products, Inc.Inventor: Jerry B. Patent number: 4215606Abstract: A strip 10 of slips 12 is characterized by breaking portions 62,64 at which each individual clip 12a, 12b, 12c is separable from its longitudinal neighbors these portions being coextensive, longitudinally of the strip, with the line of separation 60 which divides off each clip from its longitudinal neighbors and which is formed without removal of material of the strip. This line is achieved by shearing the material of the strip while bowing it about a longitudinal axis so as to present a curved surface to an oncoming shearing tool which has an oppositely curved surface. The extent of the intersection of the opposite curve defines the length of the line of the separation. The breaking portion is adjacent each end of the line. The clips during severence suffer apparent lateral contraction but no longitudinal distortion.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1978Date of Patent: August 5, 1980Assignee: Pinna CorporationInventor: John P. Patent number: 4213618Abstract: A self-contained rotary mechanical seal is provided for mounting on a rotating shaft to form a seal between the shaft and structure on a housing through which the shaft extends. The seal includes an annular lug holder to be secured to the shaft as by set screws. A plurality of lugs extend from the lug holder parallel to the shaft. Tines extend circumferentially from the ends of the lugs concentric to the axis of the lug holder. A belleville washer assembly is disposed within the lugs. An annular carbon seal washer also is disposed at least partially within the lugs. The seal washer includes radially extending shoulders dimensioned to engage the lugs and tines. In assembled form, the shoulders 15 of the carbon seal washer are urged by the spring force of the belleville washers against the tines. The tines retain the carbon seal washer in a position partially within the lugs.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1978Date of Patent: July 22, 1980Assignee: Mechanical Seal & Service, Inc.Inventor: Mickey D. Patent number: 4194303Abstract: Apparatus for teaching a technique known as the "abdominal thrust" or "upward thrust" for dislodging food from the throat of a choking victim. The device comprises a plastic manikin in the shape of a upper torso of a human being having an air bellows secured to the rear portion of the manikin within the hollow portion of the manikin and engaging a soft, flexible solar plexus plate located in a simulated position between where the lower rib would end and the lower portion of the stomach. The air bellows communicates with a tubular passage which is connected to the mouth of the victim. A bolus simulating a food particle is placed in the simulated throat and mouth piece and lodges against a shoulder which simulates the epiglottis in the esophagus. By engaging the solar plexus plate in the proper place and thrusting in the proper direction as taught by the technique, sufficient air is forced through the tubular passage to dislodge the bolus from the mouthpiece.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1978Date of Patent: March 25, 1980Assignee: Medical Plastics Laboratory, Inc.Inventor: Robert D. Patent number: 4193744Abstract: A compressor valve for use in a piston type compressor having an annular tapered shaped valve element spring-urged into a valve seat formed between the intake suction side of the valve body and an annular passage formed behind the seat which communicates with a central outlet passage formed in the exhaust side of the valve body. The piston in a compressor adapted to force fluid back through a plurality of inlet passages communicating with an annular passage which communicates with outlets in the valve body, said plurality of inlet passages being sealed by a spring-urged annular valve element. The piston sucks air into the inlet urging the first annular valve element off its seat to allow flow of the gas in through the outlet passage into the piston chamber. The piston then forces the air through the plurality of inlet passages urging the second valve element off its seat such that the gas flows around both the inner and outer sides of the valve element to the outlet of the compressor.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Assignee: Nipak, Inc.Inventor: William M.
