  • Patent number: 6115382
Abstract: A path defining/changing/deleting section sets in advance the definition of the setup of a PVC connection in a PVC connection object management table as a PVC connection object. Each PVC connection object has an attribute indicating an active or inactive state. When a request is made by a reservation controlling section for activating or deactivating an object PVC connection, a PVC active/inactive state controlling section can immediately read from the PVC connection object management table a PVC connection object indicating the definition of the setup of the object PVC connection, to send commands based on the definition to each of network elements (NE) which comprise an information communications network.

  • Patent number: 6113867
Abstract: A tray having a pair of stamped instrument racks includes a pair of side walls which taper transversely and longitudinally toward each other at their opposite ends. The tapered ends form wedge-like extensions which lead into a pair of rounded end walls. The tapered ends and rounded end walls form a chisel shaped profile which facilitates insertion of the tray into an autoclave bag. A spring-actuated retainer is operable with one hand to secure or release a plurality of instruments held in the racks.

  • Patent number: 6115225
Abstract: There is provided a power supply system which is capable of eliminating inconvenience affecting a storage device in the event of a power failure. Monitoring control means monitors supply voltage provided by a DC power supply connected to a power-supplied device and outputs a warning signal to transition means when the absolute value of the supply voltage becomes equal to or smaller than a predetermined voltage value. The transition means causes transition of the operative state of a storage device included in the power-supplied device to an operation terminated state. More specifically, if the storage device is a hard disk drive and the hard disk drive is performing write operation, the hard disk drive is caused to undergo operative state transition to a stable state in which the write operation has been terminated.

  • Patent number: 6108002
Abstract: On delivering a program on an On Demand method of a Cable TV, program reservation information is generated for each route of a communication line in a Cable TV center and is provided to a subscriber in order to restrain the number of digital lines in respect of the number of subscribers in a predetermined number and efficiently utilize equipment set in the center's side while maintaining the On Demand service to the subscriber. The subscriber thereby can recognize a reservation status of a program in respect of his or her own route and, if he or she desires simultaneous delivery of a program already reserved, an overlapping reservation of the program a third party reserved can be made. Communication lines can be efficiently utilized by simultaneously transmitting a program to the same communication line in this way.

  • Patent number: 6108112
Abstract: In a passive optical network in which a plurality of subscriber equipments are connected to central office equipment via a star coupler, non-faulty subscriber equipments are quickly recovered from a communication failure caused by a faulty subscriber equipment. A control signal of wavelength .lambda..sub.2 is wavelength-division multiplexed with a main signal of wavelength .lambda..sub.1. Using the control signal of wavelength .lambda..sub.2, the subscriber equipments are selectively deactivated from the central office equipment, and based on the recovery state during the deactivation process, the faulty subscriber equipment is located and only the faulty subscriber equipment is deactivated.

  • Patent number: 6101576
Abstract: When a control unit is in a non-operating (non-printing) state, data to be saved (character-image data) in a RAM cache memory is transferred to a disk cache memory at regular intervals in order of priority, thereby saving the data in the disk cache memory. If a power supply is cut off and then power is reintroduced, high-priority character-image data, which has been transferred from the RAM cache memory to the disk cache memory and saved in the disk cache memory when printing is not being carried out, is restored in the RAM cache memory. As a result, the high-priority data saved in the RAM cache memory when the power supply was cut off can be restored in the RAM cache memory, thereby raising the hit rate.

  • Patent number: 6097714
Abstract: A code multiplexing transmitting apparatus spread-spectrum modulates transmission data of a plurality of channels by spreading codes that differ from one another, combines the spread-spectrum signals of each of the channels and transmits the resultant spread-spectrum modulated signal. A spread-spectrum modulating unit for each channel includes a phase shifter for shifting, by a predetermined angle channel by channel, the phase of a position vector of the spread-spectrum modulated signal of each channel. As the result of such phase control, the phases of pilot signal portions of the spread-spectrum modulated signals of the respective channels are shifted relative to one another so that the peak values of the code-multiplexed signal can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6094682
Abstract: A network management system performs management by constructing path information which specifies a path existing in the network. An originating network element transmits a path-trace transmission value to the next network element in the network, the path-trace transmission value having (1) an identifier of the originating network element, (2) an identifier of an originating facility, and (3) an identifier of a network element which transmits the path-trace transmission value. The network element changes the identifier in (3) above to its own identifier and transmits the path-trace transmission value to the next network element. Succeeding network elements similarly transmit a path-trace transmission value up to a network element at an end point. Each network element holds cross-connect information for specifying an incoming-side facility and an outgoing-side facility of the network element and the path-trace transmission value that has been received, and transmits them to the network management system.
