  • Patent number: 4627380
Abstract: A marking apparatus for coloring a lateral edge of a sheet moving along its longitudinal axis includes a marking head including a body and a tubular shaft mounted on the body for rotation about an axis of said shaft. A roller is fixedly mounted on the tubular shaft for rotation therewith. An elongated coloring element of a solid material is received in the tubular shaft for rotation therewith and has one end extending outwardly of one end of the tubular shaft a predetermined distance. An actuator is operable to move the marking head in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the sheet parallel to a plane in which the lateral edge of the sheet lies so as to bring an end face of the one end of the coloring element into contact with the lateral edge of the sheet to apply a marking thereto. The axis of the tubular shaft is disposed transversely of a path of travel of the sheet and inclined with respect to the plane of the sheet.

  • Patent number: 4598697
Abstract: There is provided a blood pump apparatus which can supply a pulsating flow of the blood to a body of a patient at a desired rate of flow. R waves are detected from an output of an electrocardiograph to produce a timing signal which is used for controlling timing of intermittent actuation of a motor of a blood pump such as a roller-type pump. A rotation speed of the motor required to obtain the desired flow rate of the blood is automatically calculated in accordance with data inputted by an operator, the data including discharge of the pump per a predetermined revolution of the motor, delay time to be lapsed before an actuation of the motor, duration of the actuation of the motor, and amount of the blood to be fed per a unit period of time. The motor is then controlled to rotate at the calculated speed at the intervals synchronized with the detected R waves.

  • Patent number: 4594856
Abstract: A method and device are provided for increasing the temperature of heat. By supplying heat at a temperature T.sub.2 to a solid adsorbent, a working fluid is desorbed from this adsorbent at a relatively high pressure. The evolving gaseous working fluid is transformed to a liquid phase at a temperature T.sub.1 ' (T.sub.1 ' T.sub.2) while liberating heat. The working fluid is then transformed to the gaseous phase at a lower temperature T.sub.0 and a lower pressure p.sub.0 while heat is supplied. The generated gaseous working fluid is absorbed in a second adsorber/generator in a solid adsorbent. The absorber/generators periodically change between the adsorption and desorption phase and are operated in opposite phases. Before an interchange of the function of the two adsorber/generators, an internal heat exchange is carried out. The internal heat exchange includes a pressure equalization step with a subsequent heat transfer by a heat transfer loop.
