Abstract: The invention is directed to methods and compositions useful for enhancing adhesion and protecting electrode layers from corrosion, rust or oxidation.
Abstract: The present invention relates to nucleic acid sequences for regulating gene expression in plants. In particular, the invention relates to 5? regulatory sequences which are useful for regulating expression of heterologous DNAs in plants and methods for identifying multiple 5? regulatory sequences which confer a particular expression profile when operably linked to DNA sequences. The invention also relates to expression vectors containing the 5? regulatory sequences and to transgenic plants containing the expression vectors.
Abstract: A process for separating the components of a multi-component gas stream is disclosed. The multi-component gas stream is contacted with a solvent in an extractor to produce an overhead stream enriched with unabsorbed component(s) and a rich solvent bottoms stream enriched with absorbed component(s). The rich solvent bottoms stream is then flashed at reduced pressure to regenerate lean solvent and to recover the absorbed component(s) as an overhead stream. The regenerated solvent is recycled to the extractor. A portion of the circulating solvent comprises external solvent added to the system. A second portion of the circulating solvent comprises internal solvent contained in the feed gas.
Abstract: The invention relates to both a method and a computer system that are designed to provide a bid positioning system using a computerized bid proxy. The bid proxy takes instructions from the bidder and then bids based upon these instructions. Using a bid positioning system allows this bidder to place its bids in relation to a lead bid placed by another bidder in an auction based upon either a nominal or percentage distance from the lead bid. In a preferred embodiment, this computerized bid proxy is used in a shipment management system. This system allows a shipper to present at least one shipping requirement for a particular shipment to a centralized server. These shipping requirements could include the origin and destination of a shipment, the time or delivery date of a shipment, the number of articles being shipped, and the weight or volume of the shipment.
Abstract: A method of milking an animal having at least two teats. The method comprises a stimulation phase in which the teats of the animal are stimulated and a milking phase in which the animal is milked. The method comprises the steps of applying a stimulation phase and a milking phase to one of the teats of the animal and applying substantially only a milking phase to at least one of the other teats of the animal. The method further comprises a determination phase in which the teat with the shortest period of time in which the teat is milked out is determined, the stimulation phase and the milking phase being applied to the animal's teat with the shortest period of time, and the milking phase being applied substantially only to at least one of the other teats of the animal.
Abstract: Methods and compositions for forming polyurethane foam. A method for manufacturing an aromatic polyester polyol comprises heating a glycol, a dicarboxylic acid or ester, functionality enhancing agent, and a natural oil to about 480° F. to form a reaction product, allowing the reaction product to cool to about 140° F., and adding additional glycol to form an aromatic polyester polyol composition, wherein the total glycol comprises less than about 36 weight percent of the polyol composition. An aromatic polyester polyol composition comprises a glycol, a dicarboxylic acid or ester, functionality enhancing agent, and a natural oil, wherein the total glycol comprises less than about 36 weight percent of the aromatic polyester polyol composition.
Abstract: The invention provides a method for digitally upgrading a textile article (T) using a textile upgrading device (1), the device (1) comprising a number of nozzles (12) for applying one or more substances to the textile (T), in addition to transport means (2) for transporting the textile (T) along the nozzles (12), wherein the nozzles (12) are ordered in a number of successively placed rows (4, 5, 6, 7) extending transversely of the transporting direction of the textile article (T), the method comprising the steps of: guiding the textile article (T) along a first row (4) of nozzles (12); performing with the first row (4) of nozzles (12) one of the operations of painting, coating or finishing of the textile article (T) carried therealong; subsequently guiding the textile (T) along a second row (5) of nozzles (12); and performing with the second row (5) of nozzles (12) another of the operations of painting, coating or finishing of the textile article (T) carried therealong.

Abstract: A fluid matrix comprising cross-linked remodelable collagen from a donor vertebrate animal is useful for regenerating hydrodynamic function in damaged intervertebral discs in vivo. The matrix may be injectable and may comprise cells and a plurality of purified cell growth factors. The matrix promotes cell growth and elaboration of proteoglycans to facilitate regeneration of native tissues. The collagen in the matrix may be cross-linked using photooxidative catalysis and visible light, and purified cell growth factors are preferably at least partly bone-derived.

Abstract: A system for accessing a content-addressable memory in a packet processing system is described. A register holds a data element having a key field. Logic derives a value of the key responsive to 1) packet processing state data relating to one or more packets undergoing processing by the packet processing system, and 2) the value of this key field. The derived value of the key is presented to the memory. In response, the memory searches for an entry associated with the presented key value. If found, the content value associated with the entry is output. If not found, a signal indicative of a miss condition is output.
Abstract: In a packet switching device or system, such as a router, switch, combination router/switch, or component thereof, a method of and system for performing a table lookup operation using a lookup table index that exceeds a CAM key size is provided. Multiple CAM accesses are performed, each using a CAM key derived from a subset of lookup table index, resulting in one or more CAM entries. One or more matching table entries are derived from the one or more CAM entries resulting from the multiple CAM accesses.
