  • Patent number: 5923246
Abstract: A controller which controls the operation of the solenoid valve that regulates the flow of gas to the burner within a fuel-gas fired burner system is disclosed. The controller performs a number of diagnostic tests on the system components and provides an output in the form of a series of pulses having a specific code"embedded" therein to identify a fault condition when it occurs. The series of pulses is applied to a light emitting diode. A code reading device having an optical sensor and a liquid crystal display is provided to intercept the light pulses emitted by the light emitting diode and to"translate" the code embedded therein so that the specific fault condition can be identified and displayed on the liquid crystal display.

  • Patent number: 5890482
Abstract: A plurality of natural or LP gas-fired burners each having a port construction which produces a substantially even distribution of heat over the cooking surface of a griddle top is disclosed. Each burner includes a longitudinally extending portion having a first and a second series of ports, each series being positioned in a substantially linear orientation and each positioned substantially parallel to one another and to the longitudinal axis of the longitudinally extending portion of the burner. Each series of ports include a first grouping of ports having an orientation with respect to normal so as to produce flames directed toward the front of the griddle top and a second grouping of ports having an orientation with respect to normal so as to produce flames directed toward the rear of the griddle top. A pilot flame or gas ignition device is positioned at the transition point between the first plurality of ports and the second plurality of ports.

  • Patent number: 5836756
Abstract: A gas collector electrode assembly that is movable within the collector box is disclosed. The electrode assembly includes a first diameter portion which is receivable within the collector box while a second diameter portion thereof is receivable through an aperture provided in the bottom wall of the collector box permitting a circumferential shoulder provided at the juncture of the first diameter portion and the second diameter portion to engage the inner surface defining the bottom wall of the collector box. A coil spring is receivable over the second diameter portion of the electrode assembly and one end thereof contacts the bottom wall of the collector box and the other end thereof is receivable within a circumferential groove provided on the second diameter portion of the electrode assembly causing the electrode assembly to be "spring mounted" within the collector box permitting radial and longitudinal movement thereof within the collector box.

  • Patent number: 5820119
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for retaining the rear window of a truck in place within its window frame while the urethane seal therebetween is curing. The overall length of the apparatus is adjustable and suction cups are attachable in a spaced-apart relationship to the central portion thereof to grippingly engage the window and hold same in place during the curing process. An adjustable tie-down clamp is received through each of the opposite ends of the apparatus and engages either a window frame in the truck cab or the truck door frame.

  • Patent number: 5749718
Abstract: Gas control apparatus to regulate the flow of gas to a plurality of burners is disclosed. The apparatus permits a main gas solenoid valve to be actuated for a pre-determined period of time allowing the burners to be ignited. If the burners are not ignited within the pre-determined period of time, the main gas solenoid valve is deactuated. Even though a main gas solenoid valve is utilized, each burner can be separately ignited by means of a start signal applied thereto. After ignition, the main gas solenoid valve will remain actuated only if a flame is present at the ignited burner and a start signal is applied to the remaining burners.

  • Patent number: 5746005
Abstract: An angular position sensor having high angular resolution and which provides an immediate indication of the angular position being measured upon the application of power to the position sensor is disclosed. A quadrature disk having a continuous notch or recess in the outer periphery thereof is rotatable with respect to quadrature sensors positioned in a spaced-apart relationship with respect to one another. Differing radii on the quadrature disk cause the actuation and deactuation of the quadrature sensors as the disk passes thereunder producing sharply defined output signal transitions. While this is occurring, the Hall-effect sensor produces a sine wave output. The orientation of the quadrature disk with respect to the quadrature sensors is such that the output signal transitions produced by the quadrature sensors correspond with the maximum and minimum values of the sine wave produced by the Hall-effect sensor.
