Abstract: A pressure balanced bellows seal for a valve or pump is disclosed. The bellows seal includes a seal bellows assembly which is operatively and sealingly attached to the valve stem, a counterbellows assembly which is substantially concentric with the seal bellows assembly, a midplate which operatively joins the seal bellows assembly and the counterbellows assembly in an end-to-end arrangement, and an inert fluid within the cavity formed by the seal bellows assembly and the counterbellows assembly and which is moveable therebetween to compensate for volumetric changes resulting from the axial movement of the valve stem. The inert fluid balances the pressure of the process fluid and distributes it substantially uniformly against the seal bellows assembly and the counterbellows assembly thus substantially eliminating any pressure stresses within the bellows assemblies.
Abstract: A burner structure and a method of operating a burner to reduce the pollutant emissions produced thereby are disclosed. Air and gas are premixed in a manner such that a substantially homogeneous mixture containing excess combustion air results. The velocity of the substantially homogeneous mixture is increased as it passes through the burner causing the "residence time" associated with the formation of the flame to be decreased, i.e., the combustion gases are in the reaction zone of the flame for a significantly shorter period of time, reducing the production of NO.sub.x. In order to prevent the flame from "lifting-off" the burner because of the high velocity of the substantially homogeneous air/gas mixture, flame stabilizing devices and/or a burner structure which provides flame stabilization are utilized resulting in the production of a high heat flux and low pollutant emissions.
Abstract: A packing case for cans or containers that can be readily opened without the use of a cutting tool and, when opened, provides a tray for the display of the contents of the packing case is disclosed. A tearing score is provided in each side panel of the packing case and has a configuration allowing the weight of the cans or containers within the case to cause the separation of the top portion of the case from the bottom portion when the top portion is lifted upwardly, such separation producing a relatively smooth edge on the bottom portion of the case which can be used for display purposes. A lifting access opening, reinforced by reinforcement material, is provided in each side panel adjacent the bottom panel of the packing case to assist in the lifting of same.
Abstract: A toggle-type clamping device which grippingly and compressingly engages a clamp bar in order to secure a de-watering or sizing screen within a vibrator is disclosed. The clamping device is mounted on the side of a vibrator support member that is opposite the clamp bar and includes an L-shaped clamping member which passes through an aperture in the support member permitting engagement of the clamp bar by the clamping member. The clamping member grippingly and compressingly engages the top surface of the clamp bar and the surface of the clamp bar that is opposite the support member causing the clamp bar to be compressed against the support member in the lateral direction and against the de-watering or sizing screen in the transverse direction preventing lateral and/or transverse movement thereof.
Abstract: An adapter is disclosed for a can filling machine permitting the machine to be utilized to fill aerosol cans having a "female" type discharge valve. The adapter includes a fill head which is threadably attached to the paint reservoir of the can filling machine permitting the injecting piston of the can filling machine to be received within the working bore of the fill head. A valve engaging member is threadably attached to one end of the fill head and a spring therein biases a ball against a passageway in the bottom of the working bore. The other end of the valve engaging member has a "male" tip formed thereon which is received within the "female" type discharge valve in the aerosol can and depresses a valve body therein. Depression of the valve body within the "female" type discharge valve by the "male" tip of the valve engaging member permits paint within the working bore of the fill head to be injected into the aerosol can.
