Patent number: 5148689Abstract: A necklace having a chain and a jewelry element has attaching members at each end of the chain and two pins extending from a rear surface of the jewelry element, with the pins disposed through the attaching members and bent back to the rear surface. A jewelry element having two L-shaped members, with a pin extending from an upright side of each and having an opposite end in close proximity to a base of each L-shaped member is disclosed. A jewelry element may have two pins attached at one end, terminating at the other end in a ball and disposed through attaching members, attached to ends of a chain. A method of making a necklace from a jewelry element having two pins extending from a rear surface thereof and a chain having attaching members at each end includes placing each attaching member over a pin and bending each pin back to the rear surface or heating each pin to form a ball at the end thereof.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1989Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Andin International, Inc.Inventors: Ofer Azrielant, Alex Gal, Kenneth Lautman

Patent number: 5137952Abstract: Free radical-curable compositions comprising a plastisol component and a copolymer containing free anhydride functionality and, optionally, other reactive diluents are provided. In particular, curable compositions employing a plastisol, preferably a polyvinyl chloride-containing plastisol, and a low molecular weight crosslinking copolymer component having free anhydride functionality and which is a partial esterification product of a terminally ethylenically unsaturated compound and a polymerizable maleic anhydride are provided. The compositions of the invention yield improved adhesives, sealants, coatings, and insulators for a wide variety of substrates and may be employed in a variety of coatings and castings. Processes for preparing cured plastisol compositions from the disclosed free radical-curable compositions are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1991Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Assignee: Sartomer Company, Inc.Inventors: Henry C. Patent number: 4935008Abstract: An introducing needle having two lumens is disclosed. The lumens originate at the sharpened end of the needle in a parallel relationship. The first lumen is rectilinear along the entire longitudinal length of the needle and is adapted to engage a syringe barrel at the needle's hub end. The second lumen is rectilinear along the substantial longitudinal length of the needle and diverges from the first lumen at the needle's hub end. In operation, after a blood vessel is punctured by the sharpened end of the needle, a "flash" of blood is drawn through the first lumen and a guidewire is thereafter inserted through the diverging second lumen without disengaging the syringe barrel from the first lumen. In this manner, manipulation of the needle during insertion of the guidewire is substantially reduced, thereby reducing patient discomfort, trauma to the vein, and the possibility of movement of the needle from the initial puncture location.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1988Date of Patent: June 19, 1990Inventor: Ronald L. Lewis, Jr.

Patent number: 4846262Abstract: The invention discloses a novel head closure apparatus for shell and tube-type heat exchangers. The disclosed apparatus is substantially resistant to thermal stress cracking in that it has an internal closure chamber configured to withstand and dissipate thermal stresses caused by rapidly changing thermal gradients. The apparatus also provides for full access to the entire interior volume of the head closure and to the entire area of the head closure inner tubesheet surface in order to facilitate maintenance and repairs. The invention also discloses a compact and efficient retaining key apparatus for constraining the end-cover of a cylindrically-shaped head closure member against internal working pressures. The apparatus enables substantial reductions in the masses of the retaining keys, the head closure member, and the end-cover, which results in the head closure apparatus being simpler and more economical to manufacture and maintain.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1988Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Connell Limited PartnershipInventors: Harold R. Patent number: 4701345Abstract: An improved process for coating an inert substrate, such as braided glass fiber sleeving and inert substrates of other materials and shapes, wiht a polymeric material such as a polyacrylate, a polyvinyl chloride, a silicone rubber, or a polyfluorocarbon, said method comprising the steps of: formulating an emulsion of the polymerizable material in water or other suitable polar phase; thickening the emulsion through the addition of an inert, finely-divided, particulate, hydrophilic inorganic oxide substance to a viscosity in the range of from about 35,000 to about 500,000 centipoises; applying the thicknened emulsion in the form of a uniform coating of desired thickness to the sleeving or other inert substrate; passing the coated substrate through a microwave energy chamber and subjecting the thickened emulsion coating to microwave energy of a frequency, at a power density, and for a peirod of time sufficient to substantially devolatilize, or dry and coalesce, said emulsion; and subjecting the devolatilized coaType: GrantFiled: March 11, 1986Date of Patent: October 20, 1987Assignee: Markel CorporationInventors: James L. Patent number: 4385928Abstract: Herein is disclosed a method for agglomerating finely-divided particulate material of the types found in flue dusts from electric steel-making furnaces and the like, comprising introducing the dry flue dust together with about 8 to 12 percent by weight of a suitable binder such as water into the inlet end of a screw conveying device so configured and operated as to provide for a retention time for the mixture of binder and particulate material in progressing from the inlet to the outlet of about 15 to 60 seconds.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1981Date of Patent: May 31, 1983Assignee: Lukens, Inc.Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4278073Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for converting solar energy into heat and/or shaft work and employing two working fluids in admixture is described. One fluid has a relatively low boiling point and is capable of being readily converted to a vapor at low, system pressure. The other fluid has a relatively high boiling point and is not capable of being readily vaporized at low, system pressure. The mixture of fluids is passed through a solar energy absorber or collector where the fluids are heated, the lower-boiling fluid undergoing conversion at least in part to the vapor phase and the higher-boiling fluid remaining in the liquid phase. The heated fluids are passed into a disengaging zone where the vapor phase is separated from the liquid phase. Thereafter, the liquid phase is passed to an energy storage zone and the vapor phase, which consists entirely of the lower-boiling fluid, may be fed to a gas motor to generate useful shaft power.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1979Date of Patent: July 14, 1981Inventors: Pasquale S. Patent number: 4185526Abstract: The branches of a furcated cylinder are splayed by a tapered plug inserted therebetween. To securely hold a circular fabric cutter in concentricity with the cylinder, the branches or fingers are placed within the cutter and then driven apart by further insertion of the tapered plug. One end of the cylinder is suited for connection with a rotating chuck. Interchangeable plugs facilitate the holding of various sizes of cutters.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1978Date of Patent: January 29, 1980Inventor: Vito D'Intino
