  • Patent number: 5094674
Abstract: A device for separation of air from fiber suspensions of flotation devices which are heavily air- and foam-laden or represent a mixture of fluid and foam features a hydrocyclone whose inlet opening is arranged least 2.5 m below the outlet opening of the flotation device for the air-laden fluid or mixture. The separation section of the hydrocyclone is a slender, truncated cone-shaped body on whose pointed (thin) end the deaerated fluid is withdrawn. In this outlet opening there is a back pressure maintained, so that the inlet opening is not completely covered by the vortex of the fluid, leaving still a sufficiently free entrance cross section for the foam. Above the entrance section of the hydrocyclone a mechanical foam eliminator with a rotor is arranged, the rotor comprising an impeller wheel which is provided with radial blades. A funnel-shaped suction socket feeds the foam-air mixture to the impeller wheel.

  • Patent number: 5087849
Abstract: Elongated thin strip stock is blanked to form interlocking laminas for electric motor or generator rotors or stators at successive blanking stations. At a final assembly station the laminas are stacked and pressed into interlocking relationship. In response to an operator input a predetermined number of reversals, or half turns about the stack axis of the previously stacked lamina are provided in order to compensate for nonuniform strip thickness to obtain a rotor or stator of substantially uniform height. Alternatively the thickness of the strip stock is gauged at transversely spaced points on the strip to determine cross feed thickness variation in the strip whereupon the stacked laminas are automatically provided with a number of reversals about the stack axis in response to a thickness differential that would result in a parallelism error in the stack that exceeds a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 5079413
Abstract: In a card reader for reading information from a card which may contain the information as optical, magnetic, electronic or physical data, inside a casing is provided a carriage which carries the card and is adapted to be conveyed from an outer position to an inner position by a linear drive mechanism. By not using a pair of drive and pinch rollers as opposed to conventional card readers, the card is free from contamination by the rollers, and the operation reliability of the card reader is improved. Further, the elimination of rollers also contributes to the reduction in the overall height of the card reader. The clamp mechanism for securing a card to the carriage may be provided with interlocking means which prevents the movement of the carriage until a card is securely gripped by the clamp mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5072818
Abstract: The invention concerns an elastic clutch including a hydraulic damping device wherein a viscous damping medium is displaced through predetermined gaps upon occurrence of large angles of rotation. To that end, a cam arranged on one clutch half plunges into a capsule type displacement chamber. The cam features friction elements which in the plunging make elastic and sealing contact with the sidewalls of the capsule, thereby causing both an effective sealing of the displacement chamber and also a frictional damping which supports the hydraulic damping. The disk type second clutch half can, during operation, more freely adjust within the clutch, which simplifies the manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5067731
Abstract: The present invention is a nock adapter for mounting a nock to an arrow shaft. The nock adapter has holes at each end for engaging a shaft and a nock, respectively. In one form, the present invention fits within the arrow shaft and is capable of mounting a standard nock on its tapered mounting surface, or an A.C.E. nock which engages a bore of the nock adapter. In another form, the present invention receives the shaft of an arrow at one end and receives an A.C.E. nock at the other end, while having a generally cylindrical outer surface for streamlining the flight of the arrow. The nock adapter is preferably made of aluminum for its structural rigidity and light weight.

  • Patent number: 5064020
Abstract: A hunting device that is selectively convertible between a tree stand position and a reclined sitting position, thus providing a single apparatus for hunting both large and small game. The apparatus includes a support member, which is capable of pivoting relative to a base member, such that when the apparatus is in the reclined sitting position, the support member pivots to allow the hunter to assume the reclined position. The support member is spring biased in the upright position to allow the hunter to quickly shift from a reclined position to an upright sitting position. In the tree stand position, the base member elevates the support member against the trunk of a tree to allow the support member to serve as an elevated platform for the hunter. The base member includes a first section and a second section pivotally connected to the first section so that the apparatus may be folded into a hand-operated cart with detachable wheels.

  • Patent number: 5064042
Abstract: The invention concerns a torsionally elastic clutch whose clutch halves are nested in disk fashion and feature window-shaped cutouts which house tangentially arranged helical springs, with an outer guide body arranged in the outer peripheral area of the individual spring and preventing the spring from buckling, which body is shorter than the spring. The clutch is characterized in that an inner guide body is provided also within the individual spring, which body is shorter than the spring, and in that the two guide bodies are in relation to the spring fixed in such a way that one guide body will remain constantly coordinated with the one end area of the spring and the other guide body constantly with the other end area of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5064120
Abstract: Apparatus for use in spray-up construction of a fiberglass article in an open mold includes a manually operable spray gun for spraying liquid resin and liquid catalyst, and for chopping and emitting fiberglass roving together with the resin. A positive displacement resin and catalyst pump operated by an airmotor pumps resin and catalyst to the spray gun. A pneumatic electrical switch on the air-motor monitors air exhaust therefrom and is closed upon each air-exhaust pulse. The number of air-exhaust pulses of the air-motor is proportional to the cumulative amount of resin pumped. An electronic counter electrically connected to the pneumatic switch counts the number of switch closings and drives an LCD numerical display which displays the number of pulses counted. The LCD display is located on the spray gun where it can be seen by the operator during operation of the spray gun, such that the operator is continually apprised of the amount of resin which has been dispensed.

  • Patent number: 5063794
Abstract: The present invention is an improved key for an in-line transmission. The key is located within a channel in the shift shaft and selectively engages keyways of gears disposed about the shift shaft. A shift fork and collar axially move the key within the shift shaft by engaging and moving the base of the key. The key includes a shoulder which connects the head and the shank portion of the key, with the shoulder being thicker than the shank to cause more of the key to be supported within the shift shaft channel and thereby the key is better able to withstand the shearing forces which result from the rotational coupling of the shift shaft and the gears. The shoulder includes the portion of the key which extends out of the channel to the keyway and connects with the head, and which also faces the same direction as the head.

  • Patent number: 5062964
Abstract: In a flotation system, the generated quantity of foam is determined and, independent thereof, process parameters which directly or indirectly affect the generated foam quantity are reduced in their quantity depending on foam quantity. This is brought about by reduction of specific substance flows and also such substance flows that circulate in a flotation system. Production waters used for dilution are partly replaced by fresh water. This precludes an excessive amount of generated foam from causing difficulties in the operation of a flotation system.

  • Patent number: 5060720
Abstract: The present invention is an air conditioner with tangential blowers having an arrangement for cooling the blower's driving motor. The motor is attached exteriorly from the air moving chamber and the sidewall through which the motor is attached to the blower includes an axially located aperture. Blade extensions of the blower near the aperture induce an air flow through the aperture, and the induced air flow passes through the motor to carry away undesired heat. A seal can be formed between the motor and sidewall so that the induced air flow must pass through the motor.
