    Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system for alerting authorities during a car theft. A personal identification number, either a normal code or a duress code, is received into an vehicle security system. If the duress code has been entered, then the security system is disarmed, wherein the vehicle may be entered and driven away without any indication of an alarm. However, the duress code triggers a process by which authorities are notified and the location of the vehicle may be provided. The vehicle is disabled upon a certain event or condition, such as a pre-determined amount of time passing or a pre-determined distance driven. The method may also require satisfying a second event or condition before disabling the vehicle, such as the vehicle traveling at a low speed, in order to avoid causing an unsafe condition. The duress code preferably has an identical number of alphanumeric characters as a normal personal identification number entered to disarm the security system.

    Abstract: Assembling electrochemical cell components using a bonding agent comprising aligning components of the electrochemical cell, applying a bonding agent between the components to bond the components together, placing the components within a container that is essentially a pliable bag, and drawing a vacuum within the bag, wherein the bag conforms to the shape of the components from the pressure outside the bag, thereby holding the components securely in place. The vacuum is passively maintained until the adhesive has cured and the components are securely bonded. The bonding agent used to bond the components of the electrochemical cell may be distributed to the bonding surface from distribution channels in the components. To prevent contamination with bonding agent, some areas may be treated to produce regions of preferred adhesive distribution and protected regions. Treatments may include polishing, etching, coating and providing protective grooves between the bonding surfaces and the protected regions.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for the humidification of gas streams, such as reactant gas streams for fuel cells, wherein the specific water evaporation rate, gas delivery temperature, and degree of gas humidity may be adjusted and maintained at predetermined levels. An ultrasonic device providing a water mist is used in the evaporation process. The amount of water vapor being introduced into the gas stream can be varied up to the saturation point of the reactant gas stream. As the water vapor leaves the evaporation chamber, it mixes with the gas stream in a gas humidification chamber or riser. The humidified reactant gas stream is then maintained at a set point temperature that is at least above the dew point temperature of the humidified reactant gas.

    Abstract: A suction ring providing an inferior engaging surface and a superior engaging surface that engages and grips the ocular globe, immobilizing the ocular globe relative to a corneal surgical procedure. The inferior engaging surface grips the sclera of the ocular globe while the superior engaging surface grips the corneal region. The suction ring also provides an aperture sized to receive and expose the cornea for a surgical procedure. The suction ring has a non-circular gripping structure to provide a closer fit to abnormally shaped ocular globes and corneas. The aperture is non-circular to enable the surgeon to obtain a non-circular corneal disk during a lamellar keratotomy procedure.

The combination treatment plan reduces biocide usage in a high pH brine. The reduced overall chemical usage facilitates meeting environmental guidelines while also minimizing chemical cost. The method includes: adding an oxygen scavenger to remove oxygen and prevent or minimize oxygen corrosion; raising the hydrotest water pH, typically in excess of pH 9.5; adding a biocide in reduced amount; and adding a scale inhibitor to inhibit scale.

    Abstract: A suspension system for a tracked vehicle, preferably having rubber tracks. The track assembly is mounted on a pivot shaft such that it can oscillate about the axis of the pivot shaft. The suspension system allows the track assembly to move vertically relative to the vehicle chassis to compensate for uneven terrain. For instance the track assembly can compensate for depressions or bumps in the terrain and preclude the chassis of the vehicle from tilting with each minor change in the terrain. In addition, the track assembly movement in the vertical direction provides a much smoother ride than do traditional tracked vehicles. The suspension system of the present invention is provided for use with a pair of track assemblies.

While automobiles typically have water reservoirs resupplied by a person, the invention provides a passive means of water collection for reliable replenishment due to operations of the automobile itself. The invention provides condensate from the engine exhaust gas by cooling a region of the exhaust system using cooling fluid from the engine coolant system. The cooling fluid is circulated during a period following the engine cold start event when the heat load on the engine coolant system is low.

The method requires that the communicating devices send a transaction specific code and an identification code, along with each communication wherein the transaction specific code changes between each communication. However, when a second devices attempts communication whether that device is the authorized device or fraudulent device, the host device will receive a transaction specific code which is inconsistent or out of sequence with that expected by the host.

In this embodiment, a cellular telephone can retrieve voice mail messages even when the cellular telephone is roaming or cannot pick up a carrier signal. In another embodiment, a method is described for organizing voice mail messages stored in a cellular telephone's memory into convenient groups, directories or folders formatted to be compatible with the computer and cellular telephone.

    Abstract: This invention is an improved fuel cell design for use at low pressure. The invention has a reduced number of component parts to reduce fabrication costs, as well as a simpler design that permits the size of the system to be reduced at the same time as performance is being improved. In the present design, an adjacent anode and cathode pair are fabricated using a common conductive element, with that conductive element serving to conduct the current from one cell to the adjacent one. This produces a small and simple system suitable for operating with gas fuels or alternatively directly with liquid fuels, such as methanol, dimethoxymethane, or trimethoxymethane. The use of these liquid fuels permits the storage of more energy in less volume while at the same time eliminating the need for handling compressed gases which further simplifies the fuel cell system.
