Abstract: An infant seat assembly is made up of a resilient frame with a leg rest portion designed to support a displacement mechanism which will either impart a shaking or bouncing motion to the frame; and, when a baby is placed in the seat assembly, the frequency of vibration imparted to the frame can be selectively tuned to be in harmony with the natural frequency of vibration of the frame when an infant is placed in the seat assembly.
Abstract: A vehicle air conditioning system is specifically adaptable for mounting on the roof of a bus and is made up of condenser sections in which air is circulated across each of the condensor sections, a pair of evaporator sections with air circulated across the evaporator sections in the usual manner, and a pair of compressors are arranged in a double loop refrigerant system between the condenser and evaporator sections in such a way that each compressor delivers refrigerant to one of the condensor sections from which the refrigerant is then advanced to one or more evaporator coils in each of the evaporator sections.
Abstract: A blind for hunters or observers and particularly geese hunters is characterized by having a decoy shell in the form of a goose which is sized to be large enough to accommodate the hunter or observer in a seated position on a swivel mount and to cover the greater portion of the hunter so as to be concealed from view, and the decoy is divided into symmetrical halves which are pivotal about a shell support structure at the base of the shell so as to be readily movable into an open position when the hunter wishes to fire at approaching geese.
Abstract: A low profile compass of the type including a transparent base member and fluid-filled vial contains a directional indicator in the vial in the form of a circle which is alignable with another circle imprinted on the vial. A hinged cover assembly can be detented to selected positions and includes a mirrored sight line for direct line sighting, and a lower protective cover or shoe for the base of the compass also serves as a receptacle for instruction sheets and scales for use in taking directional readings as well as for orientation alignment on a topographic map and inclinometer readings.
Abstract: A guide for coaxial cable end connectors having a crimping ring at one end of the connector which receives the end of the coaxial cable, a cylindrical insert disposed in a central bore of the connector body and has a recessed portion for loose-fitting insertion of the cable to maintain centered to the body as the cable is advanced with the body. In one form, the guide is free to be removed from the body once the cable is fully inserted, and in another form has a tubular insert through which the cable is inserted and advanced into engagement with an extension pin with the tubular insert in surrounding relation to the extension pin. In one form, a starter plug supports an extension pin in the body and facing the male end of the cable so that the male end will advance the extension pin toward the opposite end of the connector body as the cable is advanced into the body.
Abstract: A filter use device is adapted for use with various types of containers, such as, liquid containers for water coolers in which the device includes a cap to be threaded onto an open end of the container, a filter cartridge in the cap which retains a conventional filter and a resilient pawl which is engageable with a disk having an indicator aligned with a slot in the cap and engageable with ratchet teeth to incrementally advance the indicator each time that the cap is threaded onto the end of the container; and when the indicator reaches the end of the slot is shifted to prevent any further advancement of the disk or passage of water through the filter or device and thereby signify the end of the life of the filter and the need for replacement of the filter.
Abstract: A hand-held crimping tool is characterized by having an elongated body and a lever arm which is pivoted at one end to the body to actuate a plunger having a chuck and spring-loaded biasing member movable toward and away from a seat on a die portion into which a coaxial cable end can be inserted in facing relation to the biasing member, a plurality of crimpable connectors in succession being loosely assembled on each cable end between the biasing member and seat so that when the lever arm or handle is squeezed toward the body and imparts axial movement to the plunger to force a preassembled crimping ring on each connector to radially compress each connector into sealed engagement with the cable end, the biasing member will compensate for differences in length of said connctors.
Abstract: A multi-function, hand-held compass is made up of a base member having a compass vial at one end and a socket at the opposite end to releasably attach to a clip. A lateral depression is formed in the base member to facilitate gripping of the compass, and a dual-prism sighting system is disposed at the opposite end of the base member to that of the vial. Graduated markings for a protractor are formed in surrounding relation to the compass vial along with pie-shaped recesses and magnifying lenses in the base both to take azimuth readings and map readings.
Abstract: A carrier for fishing accessories which can be worn without interfering with the fishing operation, whether standing, sitting, or walking. Broadly, the carrier includes a pouch, carrying mechanism and fishing rod suspension device. The pouch is capable of holding many different types of fishing accessories. The versatile carrying mechanism, such as, an adjustable shoulder strap and waist strap, allows the fisherman to wear the pouch on the hip, back or shoulder, and on either the right side or left side of the body. The fishing rod suspension device supports and suspends the fishing rod from the pouch thereby freeing the fisherman's hands for rigging the line or performing other fishing operations. The carrier may also include a work surface, such as a magnetic plate, to hold fishing accessories such as flies, hooks, lures, weights, and tools.
Abstract: An extension housing (C) for a cable TV multi-tap device is made up of extension tubes (A) in coaxially aligned relation to one another for the purpose of providing wider bandwidth subscriber multi-taps with a longer extension coaxial connector to span the distance between a TV coaxial cable ends without affecting performance. An RF signal connector (H) is inserted in each tube having a dielectric insulator (D) at one end, an elongated conductor (15) having a bore (17) extending through its greater length and longitudinally split segments (14) surrounding the bore for insertion of a conductor pin (10) extending from a cable connector at the end of the extension tube and inserted through the dialectric insulator into the bore and a second conductor pin (16) extending from the elongated conductor into contact with a face plate connector (G) in the housing. In one form of invention the second conductor pin extends through a second dielectric insulator (E) into contact with the face place connector.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the in situ repair or replacement of a pipeline, such as, a natural gas pipeline is made up of a transition fitting having a tubular section with means for temporarily sealing off that section, an expansion tool having an elongated handle control and an expandable portion insertable through the transition fitting and into an upstream pipeline to form a seal which prevents the escape of gas from the pipeline while one end of the transition fitting is being joined to the upstream pipeline. After the expandable portion is removed from the pipeline and the transition fitting, the tubular section of the transition fitting is sealed to prevent the escape of gas into the atmosphere as the fitting is being joined with the downstream or replacement pipeline. Once joined, the seal on the transition fitting is removed and the gas in the pipeline is free to flow through the pipeline.
Abstract: A wheeled vehicle for loading and unloading bales of hay onto and from a transportation bed includes a roller assembly cooperating with a chain drive and push plate to advance each bale or stack of bales rearwardly along the truck bed, and stabilizer arms on opposite sides of the bed have lower ends which are mounted substantially within the profile of the bed for tilting movement between a substantially upright position away from engagement with the bales and a convergent position compressed against the sides of the bales when the bed is tilted to unload the bales onto the ground.
Abstract: A syringe having a retractable needle includes a carpule fitted within a hollow interior portion of a housing. The carpule includes first and second open ends and a needle-retaining member and a fluid-expelling member within the first and second ends to define a fluid chamber therebetween. The needle-retaining member is positioned adjacent a front end of the housing to allow one end of a needle to be inserted through the needle-retaining member and into the fluid chamber. A plunger pushes the fluid-expelling member forwardly to force substantially all the fluid within the fluid chamber through the needle. An attachment member fixed to the fluid-expelling member securely engages the needle-retaining member as the fluid chamber is emptied and the fluid-expelling member contacts the needle-retaining member.

Abstract: A seal assembly is adapted for mounting between a rotatable shaft and an outer stationary housing, the seal assembly being made up of a metal sleeve in surrounding relation to the shaft, a non-metallic resilient seat in surrounding relation to the sleeve, the seat being heat-expandable to permit placement over the sleeve and, upon cooling, will contract or shrink into snug-fitting engagement with the sleeve along selected areas with labyrinth grooves formed along the inner surface of the seat between the selected areas of sealed engagement; and an excluder ring is mounted on one end of the seat along with an annular drive lock which is wedged into one end of the sleeve so as to impart rotation of the shaft into the sleeve and excluder ring.
Abstract: A method and apparatus have been devised for analyzing abnormal conditions of gait and posture and for translating such analysis into biomechanical correction through the utilization of orthotics alone and in combination with other measures and which includes a walking platform upon which a patient can stride, video cameras directed at the patient including a frontal camera, lateral camera, overhead camera and lower rear camera, mirrors to produce reflected images of the patient from selected of the cameras, and a closed circuit television for simultaneously displaying images of the patient when striding on the walking platform; and such information is coordinated with more traditional diagnostic measures for determining or sensing ground reactive and weight-bearing forces on the feet both when static and during ambulation to produce an accurate prescription through the use of orthotics alone and in combination with other measures.
Abstract: In a centrifugal pump, a barrier ring in the form of a dynamic seal member is interposed between relatively rotating, generally circular wall portions which undergo relative axial movement to vary the width of a gap between the wall portions, the seal member having an outer jacket of flexible material and an annular spring member of frustoconical configuration inserted into offset grooves in the jacket, and when the seal member is mounted under compression between the confronting surfaces will follow the relative axial movement between the wall portions to maintain liquid-tight sealing engagement with the wall portions. In a modified form of invention, the seal member includes a pair of helical spring members inserted into grooves in an outer flexible jacket and, when the seal is mounted under compression between confronting surfaces of the wall portions as described will maintain liquid-tight sealing engagement notwithstanding variations in the width of the gap between members.
Abstract: An electronic identification tag is made up of at least one cover strip and a carrier strip having an antenna and transponder mounted thereon, and an adhesive to secure the strips together such that the antenna is interposed between the strips, the transponder being pre-programmed to generate a signal having a unique code correlated with indicia on the tag to identify a passenger or luggage. The tag further lends itself well to a novel method of tracking luggage and passengers in a transportation facility.
Abstract: A brush handle that provides an ergonomic grip to improve the manipulation and reduce the fatigue of the use of the brush. The brush handle provides a series of fitted control surfaces that allow a user to grip the brush handle in a comfortable and precise manner. These control surfaces are integrally formed on the brush handle on opposing surfaces for use by both right-handed and left-handed users. In one preferred embodiment, the brush handle is used for paint brushes. The brush handle also includes a protective mechanism to prevent paint from dripping or flowing onto the brush handle during use. The brush also provides a dip line to indicate the appropriate level of dipping the brush into a paint source.
