  • Patent number: 6293004
Abstract: A hand-held crimping tool is characterized by having an elongated body and a lever arm which is pivoted at one end to the body to actuate a plunger having a chuck and spring-loaded biasing member movable toward and away from a seat on a die portion into which a coaxial cable end can be inserted in facing relation to the biasing member, a plurality of crimpable connectors in succession being loosely assembled on each cable end between the biasing member and seat so that when the lever arm or handle is squeezed toward the body and imparts axial movement to the plunger to force a preassembled crimping ring on each connector to radially compress each connector into sealed engagement with the cable end, the biasing member will compensate for differences in length of said connctors.

  • Patent number: 6267276
Abstract: A carrier for fishing accessories which can be worn without interfering with the fishing operation, whether standing, sitting, or walking. Broadly, the carrier includes a pouch, carrying mechanism and fishing rod suspension device. The pouch is capable of holding many different types of fishing accessories. The versatile carrying mechanism, such as, an adjustable shoulder strap and waist strap, allows the fisherman to wear the pouch on the hip, back or shoulder, and on either the right side or left side of the body. The fishing rod suspension device supports and suspends the fishing rod from the pouch thereby freeing the fisherman's hands for rigging the line or performing other fishing operations. The carrier may also include a work surface, such as a magnetic plate, to hold fishing accessories such as flies, hooks, lures, weights, and tools.

  • Patent number: 6257266
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the in situ repair or replacement of a pipeline, such as, a natural gas pipeline is made up of a transition fitting having a tubular section with means for temporarily sealing off that section, an expansion tool having an elongated handle control and an expandable portion insertable through the transition fitting and into an upstream pipeline to form a seal which prevents the escape of gas from the pipeline while one end of the transition fitting is being joined to the upstream pipeline. After the expandable portion is removed from the pipeline and the transition fitting, the tubular section of the transition fitting is sealed to prevent the escape of gas into the atmosphere as the fitting is being joined with the downstream or replacement pipeline. Once joined, the seal on the transition fitting is removed and the gas in the pipeline is free to flow through the pipeline.

  • Patent number: 6248094
Abstract: A syringe having a retractable needle includes a carpule fitted within a hollow interior portion of a housing. The carpule includes first and second open ends and a needle-retaining member and a fluid-expelling member within the first and second ends to define a fluid chamber therebetween. The needle-retaining member is positioned adjacent a front end of the housing to allow one end of a needle to be inserted through the needle-retaining member and into the fluid chamber. A plunger pushes the fluid-expelling member forwardly to force substantially all the fluid within the fluid chamber through the needle. An attachment member fixed to the fluid-expelling member securely engages the needle-retaining member as the fluid chamber is emptied and the fluid-expelling member contacts the needle-retaining member.

  • Patent number: 6224322
Abstract: In a centrifugal pump, a barrier ring in the form of a dynamic seal member is interposed between relatively rotating, generally circular wall portions which undergo relative axial movement to vary the width of a gap between the wall portions, the seal member having an outer jacket of flexible material and an annular spring member of frustoconical configuration inserted into offset grooves in the jacket, and when the seal member is mounted under compression between the confronting surfaces will follow the relative axial movement between the wall portions to maintain liquid-tight sealing engagement with the wall portions. In a modified form of invention, the seal member includes a pair of helical spring members inserted into grooves in an outer flexible jacket and, when the seal is mounted under compression between confronting surfaces of the wall portions as described will maintain liquid-tight sealing engagement notwithstanding variations in the width of the gap between members.
