  • Patent number: 5653576
Abstract: A distributor apparatus is characterized by having a transfer starwheel with individual pockets which are successively advanced beneath a feeder unit, such as a downstacker mechanism, each pocket in succession receiving an individual can end advanced into the pocket by the downstacker and each end selectively removed from the pocket by application of a differential pressure to the lid when it moves into alignment with a vacuum chute. One or more vacuum chutes may be placed in the path of movement of the pockets of the transfer starwheel to direct the lids into one or more lanes for advancement to another station.

  • Patent number: 5651699
Abstract: A terminal connector assembly for connecting coaxial cables to a selected device, such as, a cable television is made up of an adaptor and socket in press-fit relation to one another with an end connector at one end of the adaptor having endless sealing rings along an inner wall surface of an outer sleeve of the connector and spaced serrations or gripping edges along an external wall surface of an inner sleeve so that when the cable is inserted into the end connector with the outer conductor and jacket in the annular space between the inner and outer sleeves, the outer sleeve can be crimped inwardly to cause the ribs to advance into uniform sealed engagement with the jacket and the gripping edges will cooperate in resisting any tendency of the cable to separate from the end connector. The socket portion either can be directly attached to a cable television terminal or wall plate or may include a second end connector for crimped connection to another coaxial cable extending from the terminal or wall plate.

  • Patent number: 5576494
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing the load-bearing capacity of a subterranean formation surrounding a concrete shaft and is made up of an expansion chamber at the bottom of the hole containing the shaft and fluid pressure and return lines which extend downwardly into communication with spaced outer peripheral portions of the expansion chamber so that when fluid is pumped into the chamber any entrapped air can be removed through the return line, and when grout is subsequently pumped into the chamber any fluid can be displaced through the return line. Telltale measuring rods extend downwardly into contact with spaced outer peripheral portions of the expansion chamber to measure displacement of the chamber when pressurized fluid is delivered into the chamber. The method of testing may be applied also in cyclical loading of the formation beneath the shaft to simulate a support structure which undergoes large fluctuations in loading, for example, of the type induced by an earthquake.
