  • Patent number: 4930437
Abstract: Formed on the doctor element, between a chamber mouth and the paper web respectively the backing roll supporting it, is an application space which relative to the doctor element, that is, on the entrance side of the paper web, is defined by a baffle plate and kept at a pressure which exceeds atmospheric pressure. Between the baffle plate, this application space 2 is subdivided toward the doctor element (coating blade) 1, creating between the end of the vane 2 and the coating blade 1 a gap whose width ranges between 4 mm and 10 mm. This makes it possible to produce a flawless coating application also in the case of very light basis application weights.

  • Patent number: 4925253
Abstract: An automatic method for preventing wheel skidding during braking and acceleration is disclosed, in which an instantaneous rotational wheel speed is sensed and an instantaneous absolute speed variation is calculated therefrom. During braking, the brake is released automatically when rotational speed either reduces so that speed variation is greater than a predetermined maximum permissible value, or when rotational speed approaches zero with the vehicle still moving. The brake is applied during braking when rotational speed increases to a predetermined time-varying value after brake release. During acceleration, the brake is applied when rotational speed increases so that speed variation is greater than the aforementioned maximum permissible value, and is released when rotational speed falls to a predetermined time-varying value after the brake application. The brake remains unaffected when speed variation is less than the maximum permissible value.

  • Patent number: 4896789
Abstract: A vented fuel cap adapted to be removably attached to a filler neck of a fuel tank of the type commonly employed with small internal combustion engines is provided. The vented fuel cap comprises generally a generally cylindrical cap that is formed with inner threads, and is adapted to be threadedly engaged with the filler neck. A liner element is provided to fit within the cap, and is seated along the underside of the top of the cap. The liner element includes an axially inwardly-directed dome-shaped diaphragm portion that includes a slit formed substantially in its center. The cap and liner element allow for bi-directional venting of the fuel tank. The inwardly-directed dome-shaped diaphragm portion of the liner element allows outside air to vent into the fuel tank at a considerably smaller pressure differential than that required to vent outwardly from the interior of the tank.

  • Patent number: 4896634
Abstract: The present invention is a lubrication system for an internal combustion engine. lubricating oil flows through a central bore of a camshaft, and the camshaft sprays oil into a journal bearing. The crankshaft and camshaft are configured so that they are in phase, whenever the camshaft is closest to the camshaft during a rotation, the camshaft sprays oil into the journal bearing. Since the crankshaft has twice the rotational velocity of the camshaft, two spray holes are provided in the camshaft so that a spray hole supplies oil on each cycle of the crankshaft rotation.

  • Patent number: 4888962
Abstract: A compressor and suction accumulator assembly wherein the suction accumulator is secured in close proximity to the compressor by way of a strap. The strap is engaged with the housing of the compressor and extends circumferentially around the accumulator casing. A spring loop is formed on the strap to establish spring tension at the engagement of the strap and the compressor housing. The spring loop has opposing sides spaced apart a predetermined distance, with each of the opposing sides having a hole disposed therein which is axially aligned with the hole in the opposite side. A screw is received in one hole and extends to the hole in the other side. Rotating the screw results in a constriction of the distance between the opposing sides of the spring. Spring tension is imparted to the strap and a tight connection is created between the accumulator and the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4889213
Abstract: A safety device for an internal combustion engine powered implement and for disabling the operation of the internal combustion engine by means of a brake. The safety device includes a braking lever and a control lever which are both mounted on a single pivot member. Two springs are provided, the first of which normally urges the braking lever into contact with the flywheel of the internal combustion engine to prevent rotation thereof. The second spring biases the control lever into a rest position wherein the deadman control lever assumes its normal non-operated position and allows adjustment of control effort. The braking lever and control lever are mounted on the pivoting member by means of bushings to permit independent pivoting movement of the levers when the deadman lever is operated. The control lever contacts the braking lever by means of an abutment surface thereby rotating the braking lever out of contact with the flywheel and permitting the engine to operate.
