  • Patent number: 4453281
Abstract: A bee hive frame spacer comprising a spacer body having an opening lengthwise therethrough and having double side walls wherein ribbed interior side walls that engage the sides of frame extensions are adapted to compensate for variations in frame extension widths and wherein exterior side walls provide uniform frame-to-frame spacing within a bee hive body and absorb any extra space between frame extensions to prevent the accumulation of propolis. Mounting brackets are provided for attaching the spacer to frames with broken extensions. An extractor tab is provided on the top of the spacer to facilitate prying the frame out of a bee hive with a standard hive tool, and extractor lugs are provided to facilitate removal of frames with a special extractor tool.

  • Patent number: 4418911
Abstract: A motor-driven, cam-operated, rod-supported swingable platform for providing horizontal and vertical movement to video games and their users, comprising a rectangular support frame having mounted at each corner thereof a vertical post from which a suspension rod is swingably attached at one end. The other end of each suspension rod is swingably attached to a corner of a rectangular platform upon which are mounted a video game and an operator's seat. A cam follower is provided on the bottom of the platform, and the cam follower is driven by a cam that is attached to one end of a drive arm that is attached at its other end to the shaft of a vertically positioned electric motor. Operation of the motor causes the platform to swing on its four suspension rods thereby giving a sense of motion and pleasure to persons who operate the video game while seated in the operator's seat on the platform.

  • Patent number: 4406454
Abstract: An arm wrestling apparatus comprising a handle that extends upward out of the top of a cabinet which handle is adapted at one end to be grasped in a person's hand and which is coupled at the other end to a gear mechanism that is, in turn, coupled to the exposed ends of piston rods of a pair of opposing pneumatic cylinders, which cylinders are pivotally mounted at their other ends to the frame of the cabinet. The top of the cabinet is provided with an elbow rest for users of the apparatus. An air compressor with its associated hoses, couplings, and controls provides a variable and controllable air pressure to the pair of pneumatic cylinders which, in turn, transmit a muscle-opposing force through the gear mechanism to the handle. Switches, timers and display lights are provided to control the operation and timing of the apparatus and to indicate the results of person's attempts to wrestle the machine.

  • Patent number: 4363469
Abstract: A screw operated cutting torch guide comprising an upward opening channel or other suitable structural member that is closed at its ends by end plates and having one of a pair of interchangeable threaded rods or screws mounted lengthwise therein. Each threaded rod is mounted for rotational movement about its longitudinal axis in the end plates. One of the rods is adapted for operation by a power drill and the other is adapted for hand operation. A torch holder assembly, capable of vertical and angular adjustment, and adapted for receiving a cutting torch attached thereto, is mounted on the threaded rod for reciprocating lengthwise movement within the said channel.

  • Patent number: 4334754
Abstract: A stroboscopic posing aid for use by professional and amateur photographers to capture and hold the attention of photographic subjects, especially small children, comprising a vertical stand having an arm extending outward therefrom, a sphere decorated with vertical stripes or zones of alternating contrasting colors, means for suspending the sphere from the arm, and a fluorescent light source. A user spins the sphere by hand and the characteristic flicker of the fluorescent light source produces stroboscopic effects on the surface of the sphere that give optical illusions of vertical stripes rotating first in one direction, then slowing down, stopping, and reversing direction as the rotational speed of the sphere drops due to atmospheric drag.

  • Patent number: 4328964
Abstract: An apparatus for exercising and developing the muscles used in certain athletic endeavors comprising a plurality of elastic ropes, means for anchoring one end of each elastic rope to a stationary object, a plurality of handles made to conform in size, shape and construction to handles commonly used for golf clubs, baseball bats, tennis racquets and baseballs, and means for coupling the other ends of the elastic ropes to the aforesaid handles. To use the apparatus, a handle is coupled to one end of an elastic rope and the other end of the rope is anchored to a stationary object by a novel, fast and reliable means. Two or more ropes may be used in parallel if desired. The user then goes through the motions of swinging or throwing the handle forward in the manner customary for the particular sport. Forward movement of the handle is resisted by the elastic ropes which elongate as the applied force is increased.

  • Patent number: 4232805
Abstract: A solid, rectilinear sewing form of thin, rigid construction and a process for using the sewing form to hand make cloth trim tape, cloth pockets or folded cloth rope is provided. The width of the sewing form controls the width of the finished cloth trim tape, cloth pockets, or folded cloth rope. The form is laid on top of cloth material so that the edges of the cloth material extend beyond the longitudinal edges of the form. The cloth extensions are then folded back over the sewing form using the edges of the form as parallel folding guides, and the cloth is creased at the folds by pressing with a hot iron. Longitudinal grooves run the length of the sewing form and serve as cutting guides for trimming the folded and creased cloth. Folded cloth rope is produced by making a third longitudinal fold and crease in the cloth material using the form as a folding guide, and thereafter stitching together the two edges formed by the first two creases.
