Abstract: A paving block that closely resembles a used mined cobblestone. The blocks are manufactured by a bi-layer concept that is subjected to processes that cause the layers to structurally integrate. The process and composition permit the mass production of blocks having independent top topographies that emulate the surfaces of original cobblestones and with a comparable strength.

Abstract: The system controls one or more VCRs to perform various operations including rapid and accurate tape repositioning from any point to any other point utilizing time codes and VCR performance data. They system includes the ability to encode, record, and reproduce a video signal with time codes and other information such as text commentary, directories to the tape content and VCR commands. Tapes prepared on any implementation of the system can be positioned on any other implementation except that the copying process must translate as appropriate between different signal formats (NTSC, PAL, SECAM), tape formats (VHS, Video 8, etc.) and encoding systems. The system includes a method for characterizing the tape transport performance of individual VCRs in the various tape transport modes including fast forward and rewind and during transitions between transport modes.

Abstract: Processes and structures for using calcium cyanamide fertilizer in a manner to greatly enhance its most effective soil treatment form prior to its application. Calcium cyanamide transformation structures have both fertilizing and pesticidal qualities; however, it is difficult to obtain uniform, efficient effectiveness from dry calcium cyanamide's liquid transformation structures. In the process of this invention, dry, dusty granules and fines of calcium cyanamide are placed directly into tanks of liquid for transformation or within biodegradable bags through which water can freely flow. The bags are submerged in a tank of water. The insoluble calcium and carbon components thereof remain as solid residuals within the bags. Hydrolysis occurs and the solution is biocidal and ready for immediate application. The solution can be sprayed or irrigated onto a targeted soil area with conventional dispersal equipment. The remaining non-dissolved material in the bags can be dispersed on and into the plant crop soil.
Abstract: A gun rack for safely securing weapons which can be readily removed in an emergency. The securing mechanism is comprised of a pair of locking arms that are disposed over weapon-carrying cradles. Means are provided to lock the arms in this position. Key means are provided to unlock the arms and a movement of the arms sideways for less than an inch frees the weapons for removal. Guard means are provided for protecting the trigger mechanism while the weapon is in the rack.
Abstract: An attachment for a tennis racket handle comprises a structure forming an enlarged handle portion of the handle shaft having a second width dimension that is larger than the first width dimension and a second depth dimension, the structure having side edges forming a handle transition portion of the handle shaft diverging at an angle of between about ten and twenty degrees from the first to the second handle portions toward the head providing a transition between the first and second width dimensions, the structure forming front and back faces corresponding to faces of the racket head, the front and back faces formed with substantially flat surfaces with a rounded ridge along a face of one embodiment. Another embodiment includes a protrusion on one side edge for engagement with a forefinger.
Abstract: A cage for use in a spinal repair system wherein a pair of inert, relatively open bone-graft contouring cages are disposed between adjacent vertebrae mounted to the boney structure of these vertebrae wherein the vertebrae will knit together and act as a single unit. Abstract: A garage door-opener security system which automatically positively blocks any unauthorized opening of a sectional garage door that travels, guided by rollers, in a pair of flanking metal guide tracks. The security system is interconnected with a standard, automatic, garage door-opening mechanism that includes an electric drive motor. When the door reaches its fully closed position, a locking device, mounted adjacent one of the flanking tracks, physically inserts a locking pin into the trackway in which the rollers move, which pin is located a few inches above the roller next below. The locking pin is closely confined by a surrounding aperture which prevents its upward deflection or twisting, thus making it impossible for the roller to move therepast in the trackway and positively preventing the raising of the door more than a few inches.

Abstract: A removable seat and floor coverlet for helicopters that are light in weight, easily removable and installed and that provide protection to the occupants from small arms fire from the ground. Abstract: An Excavation System is disclosed in which fragmented excavated material is entrained in a gas and pneumatically conveyed to a desirably remote site for separation of such material from such gas. Energy is supplied to a motor to operate a gas pump to induce high velocity gas flow through a long vacuum conduit. At a vacuum intake end such flow entrains such material and conveys such material into and through such conduit to one or more separators communicating serially with the flow path for separating and collecting the excavant, then such gas is discharged into the atmosphere. At least one separator includes a high-efficiency cyclone chamber for maintaining a gas vortex for high-efficiency centrifugal separation with minimal flow-resistance.
