  • Patent number: 7316193
Abstract: A vessel for water travel that has the stability of a heavy weighted vessel when at rest in the water and the performance of a lightweight vessel when in a planed condition. The vessel comprises at least one hull structure for partially submerged flotation in a body of water and at least two hull elements affixed to or a structural part of the hull structure. The hull structure may further comprise laterally spaced hollow ballast devices that rare open at respective fore and aft ends, thus providing stability when submerged in the water and performance by the evacuation of water when in a planed condition.

  • Patent number: 7294139
Abstract: An improved controlled-motion instrument is provided for grasping, holding or otherwise manipulating an object in operations such as endoscopic procedures. The instrument opens and closes jaws or other manipulation members by way of a longitudinally movable cam member, but maintains the longitudinal position of the manipulation members constant relative to the instrument's body regardless of opening and closing motion. The manipulation members thus have increased length-to-diameter ratio and column strength, and the cam provides positive lateral jaw support and stability during opening and closing. The movable cam member can also include other manipulation members thereon that work in conjunction with the longitudinally fixed manipulation members.

  • Patent number: 7266684
Abstract: A method, software and apparatus facilitates one or more third-party agents to securely access a customer's or other first party's private personal and financial data or other such confidential information from a second party, preferably on the Internet. A security document or ticket is presented to the second party for verifying the customer's consent to grant such access to the third party. The second party only communicates such confidential information to the third party if the security document is found to be valid. The security document, which can be at least partially encrypted, can also include a preselected expiration time, beyond which it is not valid.

  • Patent number: 7247087
Abstract: A fume hood adapted to be connected to an exhaust system, the fume hood including a cabinet formed with a chamber having a generally flat bottom wall and a sash door mounted at the front end of the chamber for movement in a vertical plane to provide an access opening to the chamber. An air directing member is mounted on the cabinet outside of the plane of movement of the sash door relative to the chamber and it is generally aligned with the bottom wall. The air directing member is formed with an opening positioned to cause a first path of outside air to flow into the chamber along the surface of the bottom wall and being formed with another portion for directing a second path of outside air in a direction generally parallel to and above the first path.

  • Patent number: 7216829
Abstract: An apparatus for holding a textile bobbin on a support roller and for facilitating the exertion of a controlled bearing pressure from the textile bobbin against the support roller. The apparatus comprising a creel for grasping the textile bobbin, a shaft for supporting the creel for pivotable movement relative to the support roller, a lever mechanism for applying a variable torque to the creel as a function of pivoted movement of the lever mechanism, and an adjustment device for varying the torque applied to the creel via the lever mechanism. The adjustment device comprises a rotatable eccentric element disposed to act on the lever mechanism for establishing an adjustable base position of the lever mechanism according to a rotated position of the eccentric element.

  • Patent number: 7181901
Abstract: A channel plate for an open-end rotor spinning device for closing a rotor housing charged with underpressure in which a spinning rotor rotates, having a channel plate tower extending into the spinning rotor, in whose shell face the outlet opening of a fiber guide channel is arranged and in whose front side a yarn draw-off nozzle can be fixed. A concavely arched transition surface adjoins a cylindrical part of the shell face, and the channel plate tower has a diameter at the height of the rotor edge of the spinning rotor such that an annular gap of maximally 2 mm width between the spinning rotor and the channel plate tower results during spinning. At most one half of the outlet opening of the fiber guide channel is arranged in the area of the cylindrical shell face, and the remaining part in the arched transition surface. The wall area of the outlet opening remotest from the front side is at a distance to the center longitudinal axis of the channel plate at least 0.

  • Patent number: 7178791
Abstract: A hinge assembly is described which can be assembled by snapping together moldable half-cap pieces about the end of a baluster pierced through by a hole. The baluster turns about spindles formed by the half-caps. The half-caps may be fixed together by press-fit mating surfaces and may be placed within a mating groove defined by a hand rail or shoe rail. The half-cap pieces and the hole are not readily apparent in a finished staircase containing the hinge assembly. The hinge assembly successfully employs pin top balusters, as well as rectangular balusters. Alternatively, a hinge assembly is described which can be inserted into the bore of an end-bored bluster, fastened to the inside of the bore, and pivotally attached to a flange suitable for attachment to a rail. The hinge assembly requires no external modification to the normally exposed surfaces of the baluster. The flange includes an H-shaped foot which may be concealed in a groove defined by a hand rail or a shoe rail.

  • Patent number: 7155894
Abstract: The invention relates to a receiving element for receiving an interchangeable yarn drawing nozzle that can be magnetically locked. According to the invention, the receiving element is configured as an adapter (26), which can be screwed into a central threaded bore (37) of a thread channel plate (12) in an open-ended rotor spinning device (1), the latter being designed to receive a conventional yarn drawing nozzle that is equipped with an external thread. The adapter (26) comprises centring bores (27) for receiving ferromagnetic centring lugs (28) of a yarn drawing nozzle (13) in addition to a continuous bore (33), whose internal diameter (d) is adapter to the external diameter (D) of the shaft (39) of the yarn drawing nozzle (13). The adapter is also equipped with permanent magnetic pins (30), which correspond with the ferromagnetic centring lugs (28) of the yarn drawing nozzle (13).
