  • Patent number: 6955037
Abstract: An open-end spinning device comprises a spinning rotor (21) rotating in a rotor housing with a spinning insert (24) supported rotatably with respect to the spinning rotor (21) coaxially to the rotor axis (33). The spinning insert (24) can be caused to rotate as a function of the rotary motion of the spinning rotor (21) via a contactless entrainment of the spinning insert (24) by means of permanent magnets (32) attached to the spinning insert (24). In this manner a simple and reliable entrainment and an automatic adjusting of the rotational speed of the spinning insert (24) in the spinning rotor (21) are achieved.

Abstract: An adjustable frame, mountable on a vehicle, for releasably securing hand trucks of different sizes and configurations includes: a support platform for receiving a base of a hand truck; a first and a second side member affixed to the platform; a first bracket and a second bracket attached to the first and second side members, respectively, the brackets extending in parallel therewith; an elongate swing bar pivotally connected to the first bracket and pivotal between a first position that retains the hand truck on the platform, and a second position, which allows access and removal of the hand truck from the platform; and a latch mounted on the swing bar. The second bracket may include a strike that engages the latch for releasably securing the swing bar in the first position. Cushioned crossbars attachable to the side members dampen vibration of the hand truck during transportation.

  • Patent number: 6945490
Abstract: A traveling yarn tension compensating system having a pair of vertically disposed, horizontally spaced ball-type yarn tensioning units and a yarn tension compensating device disposed therebetween. The device has a yarn engaging element with a yarn engaging surface that is downwardly convex for engaging a yarn thereunder. The surface is fixed so as not to rotate or otherwise move in the direction of travel of the yarn and is made of a material that imposes a tension increasing frictional drag on the traveling yarn. The surface engaging element is mounted to be freely movable vertically in response to tension in the traveling yarn. The convex shape of the yarn engaging surface results in a greater extent of surface engagement of the yarn when the surface engaging element is in a lower position resulting from lesser tension in the yarn and at which position it deflects the yarn downwardly over the yarn guides.

  • Patent number: 6935672
Abstract: A safety seat comprising a unitary molded shell having a “bucket-seat” shape and a safety restraint system integral to the shell. The molded unitary shell has a bottom portion and a back portion. The shell comprises an inner layer and an outer layer made of a carbon fiber laminate with a core situated between the inner and outer layers. The core comprises aluminum sheeting having a honeycomb-like cross-section. A plurality of attachment plates are selectively located within the shell and disposed between the inner and outer layers. The safety restraint system is fastened to corresponding attachment plates. Support plates located on a non-seating surface of the shell are mated with selected attachment plates. A headrest is selectively attached to the safety seat. The safety seat is secured to structural members within a vehicle by mounting brackets. • Patent number: 6920746
Abstract: An open-end spinning device has a spinning rotor (2) with a rotor groove (25) at its greatest inside diameter in which fibers are collected. A yarn shank (27) extending from a yarn withdrawal nozzle to the rotor groove (25) is curved in the vicinity of the rotor groove (25) counter to the direction of rotor rotation during the spinning process forming a lagging tie-up zone whereat yarn formation takes place. A rotor insert (18) is rotatably supported within the spinning rotor coaxially to the rotor axis. The rotor insert (18) can be caused to rotate in a contactless manner by the rotation of the spinning rotor. The rotor insert (18) comprises a yarn guide conduit (20) that receives the yarn shank (27) to effect a retardation of the rotor insert (18) during normal spinning operation, which significantly improves the stability of the spinning process over known open-end spinning devices.

  • Patent number: 6883955
Abstract: An improved method of detecting the height of, and clamping, a paint or other liquid-containing can relies upon a subtractive comparison of a current draw of a clamping motor to a baseline reference current draw in order to detect the can height. Because the baseline reference current draw accounts for anomalous current draw readings, periodic manual adjustment of the current draw level considered to indicate a can height is unnecessary. The method further includes advanced detection and elimination of gaps developing between the can and the clamping apparatus. A system for agitating a liquid-containing can includes apparatus to carry out can-height detection, clamping, and gap detection and correction using current draw, can height, and clamping plate position data.

  • Patent number: 6877309
Abstract: An apparatus for generating electricity that uses at least one jet-type engine fueled with fissile material. The nuclear fueled jet engine is affixed to a connecting member that projects from a central, rotatable shaft, which is in engageable communication with an apparatus for converting the rotation of the central shaft to electricity, such as a stator and rotor combination. The engine is positioned so that the thrust produced by the jet engine causes the engine and connecting member to travel in a radial direction around the longitudinal axis of the central shaft, rotating the central shaft. As the central shaft rotates, the rotational motion of the central shaft is transmitted to conversion apparatus. An operating gas is used to cool the nuclear fueled jet engines and as the propellant for the jet engines.
