  • Patent number: 6729895
Abstract: An electrical connector comprising a body having at least two channels to receive a conducting electrical cable, a conducting inner compression locking sleeve positioned in each channel, preferably slotted to allow it to close about and grasp the cable, in electrical contact with an outer compression locking sleeve positioned slidably along each of said inner compression locking sleeve. A tab extends from the outer compression locking sleeve through a slot in the body to allow the outer compression locking sleeve to be moved by hand along the inner compression locking sleeve. The outer sleeve is preferably non conducting, thus allowing the tab to be formed as an integral part thereof. The inner sleeve has a larger diameter than the outer sleeve and to facilitate sliding the outer sleeve over the inner sleeve, such as a generally frustoconical cross section with the base portion having the largest diameter being distal from the outer sleeve in the open position.

  • Patent number: 6723677
Abstract: By controlling the hold up times, concentrations and temperatures for mixing the components of aluminum, titanium and magnesium based catalyst for solution polymerization it is possible to prepare a catalyst having a high activity, which prepares high molecular weight polyolefins. Generally, a catalyst loses activity and produces lower molecular weight polymer at higher temperatures. The catalyst of the present invention permits comparable polymers to be produced with higher catalyst activity and at higher reaction temperatures by increasing the concentration of the components used during the preparation of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 6717022
Abstract: Acetylenic compounds in olefin streams such as mixed 1,3-butadiene were selectively hydrogenated over the supported copper catalysts on highly porous supports such as alumina, silica, etc. The preferred supports have the average pore diameter larger than about 200 Å, no micro pores, total pore volume larger than about 0.65 cc/g, and preferably less than about 230 m2/g BET surface area. The copper catalysts were preferably promoted with the Group VIII metal such as palladium to improve low activity of copper catalyst. The product stream typically contains less than 20 ppm total alkynes. Also the copper catalysts and the palladium promoted copper catalysts may be modified with zinc oxide to improve the performance of the catalysts. The reactor was loaded with two or more copper catalysts promoted with different levels of palladium.

  • Patent number: 6710143
Abstract: A phosphinimine catalyst for olefin polymerization is supported on a directly fluorided metal oxide with an aluminoxane. This catalyst is highly active for olefin polymerization in comparison to prior art catalysts which use non-fluorided metal oxide supports. The directly fluorided metal oxide may be conveniently prepared by contacting the precursor metal oxide with a simple alkali metal salt (such as NaF) in an aqueous slurry.

  • Patent number: 6676830
Abstract: A process for the desulfurization of a light boiling range (C5-350° F.) fluid catalytically cracked naphtha, which may be first subjected to a thioetherification to react the diolefins with mercaptans contained in it to form sulfides, is fed to a high pressure (>250 psig) catalytic distillation hydrodesulfurization step along with hydrogen under conditions to react most of the organic sulfur compounds, including sulfides from the thioetherification to form H2S. The H2S and a light product stream (C5's and C6's) are removed as overheads. The bottoms from the catalytic distillation hydrodesulfurization step is fractionated and the bottoms from the fractionation contacted with hydrogen in a straight pass hydrogenation step in the presence of a hydrodesulfurization catalyst at pressure of >250 and temperature >400° F. to further reduce the sulfur content.

  • Patent number: 6624804
Abstract: A computer system comprises a keyboard (11), a display screen (13), a first pair of position-sensing electrodes (18.1, 18.2), a second pair of position-sensing electrodes (20.1, 20.2), a signal injection electrode (22), and an oscillator (27). The oscillator injects a signal via the signal injection electrode and the operator's left hand (L) into the operator's body, and this creates a field around the operator's right hand (R). The position-sensing electrodes are arranged underneath the keyboard and sense the strength of the field. This enables the position of the operator's right hand (R) in an X-Y plane above the keyboard to be determined. To this end the position-sensitive electrodes are connected via synchronous detectors (34, 44) and an analogue-to-digital converter (36) to a microprocessor (46), which operates to control the position of a cursor on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 6610798
Abstract: Non-Newtonian fluids, such as partially polymerized monomers or solutions of polymer in monomer may be pressure atomized below the free surface of a continuous liquid phase to produce a dispersed phase. A uniform or customized droplet size distribution can be obtained by imposing a required pressure pulsation on a flowing monomer upstream the atomizer inlet. This initial particle size distribution can be maintained or modified during subsequent polymerization process in a low shear, controlled turbulence flow pattern, created without mechanical agitation within the continuous liquid, by continuously or periodically injecting an inert gas at selected locations within the reactor.
