  • Patent number: 5451026
Abstract: A picture frame stand is provided for supporting framed articles of varying sizes on a horizontal support surface such as a countertop or a desk. A rigid base member and a rigid upright member is connected to a flexible upright member to form a stand of essentially triangular shape. The stand operates by pressing the flexible upright member toward the rigid upright member, thereby urging the ends of the flexible upright member closer together, in order to position the ends against a top and a bottom shoulder of the picture frame, and subsequently releasing the flexible upright member which urges the ends against the top and bottom shoulder. In this position, the picture frame stand is detachably mounted with the base member extending outwardly away from the picture frame, thereby forming a tripod base with a bottom edge of the picture frame. Therefore, pictures previously hanging on walls may easily be converted for placement on a countertop or desk.

  • Patent number: 5433005
Abstract: A hammer and chisel device for clearing slag from welds includes a chipping chisel interchangeably and springingly affixed within a weighted handle having a slip resistant grip. Since welds often produce slag in a hard to reach spot, the invention provides for repeated one handed slag removal. A sturdy chisel with a resilient cutting surface is replaceably received by the handle utilizing a releasable retaining washer and retaining ring. A spring within the handle returns the chisel shank to an extended position, thereby providing for repeatable hammer-like blows to the chisel shank by the handle. The handle or striking rod includes a chisel shank guide receiving track for consistent sequential strikes without axial rotation. A molded slip resistant grip minimizes necessary grip pressure and prevents hand slippage. Heavy construction provides sufficient force for quick, one handed operation. A slim design provides for easy handling and use in harder to reach places.

  • Patent number: 5423708
Abstract: A robot in the form of a toy simulating a spider is provided wherein the robot is capable of maintaining balance while walking, turning and running in a race-type setting on level ground and over a ramp or small obstacles. A preferrred embodiment of the robot has four operatively cooperating legs which are remotely controlled by a motor on each of the left side and the right side of the robot. A gear reduction mechanism to improve torque is considered. The operative cooperating legs are designed such that alternate legs on each side are in a DOWN position when mirrored legs are in a DOWN position, thereby providing balance while walking with four of the eight legs in a DOWN position while remaining legs are in an UP position.
