  • Patent number: 5275582
Abstract: A disposable syringe comprises a syringe cylinder and a syringe piston. The syringe cylinder is open at one end and at its other end has an end wall, which is closed with the exception of a region adjacent to a needle holder. The syringe piston comprises a piston skirt, which protrudes from the syringe cylinder, and a piston head, which is disposed within the syringe cylinder and provided with an annular seal. The annular seal is connected to the piston head by an annular peripheral flange. In order to provide a syringe which can easily be actuated and is nevertheless absolutely tight, the flange is frustoconical and flares toward the piston skirt. The radial distance from the inside peripheral surface of the hollow frustoconical flange to the piston skirt increases continuously. The flange is adjoined by the annular seal, which consists of a coaxial cylinder and freely protrudes on the side of the piston head.

  • Patent number: 5273167
Abstract: Apparatus for the quality control of individual, one-piece receptacles, which are open at one end. The individual, one-piece receptacles are preferably aligned, in several groups, side by side, similarly with respect to their spatial orientation. The receptacles are turned over to a conveyor line where they pass through at least one testing station at which measurement results specific to each type of receptacle are obtained. The analysis of these results indicates the structural integrity and accuracy of shape of the respective receptacle. The receptacles, as a function of the receptacle-specific measurement results, are removed from the conveyor line if defective; and only the structurally integral and shape-accurate acceptable receptacles are stacked and further advanced as a stack.

  • Patent number: 5261688
Abstract: An adjustable coupling device for coupling a ski boot to a ski. The coupling device has a longitudinal axis and includes, a toe binding, a heel binding and length adjustment device. The length adjustment device is capable of altering the distance between the toe binding and the heel binding along the longitudinal axis to accommodate different-size ski boots. The length adjustment device has a first drive element connected to the toe binding and a second drive element connected to the heel binding. The drive elements can be moved and set at a position corresponding to the length of the ski boots. An attachment device is provided to attach one of the bindings to a surface of the ski at one of several preset positions in such a manner that the remainder of the coupling device can move freely in a direction perpendicular to the surface. Alternatively, the attachment device may attach both of the bindings to the surface.

  • Patent number: 5199817
Abstract: In the provision of elongate underground cavities having a large volume are to be provided, particularly in the construction of underground railroad stations having at least two stories, it is desired to avoid a need for excavating an open pit and to minimize the handling of material. This is accomplished in that the cavity is excavated and lined in a two consecutive stages. In the first stage, two laterally spaced apart galleries are driven in the longitudinal direction of the cavity by a mining technique in the region of a top segment of the desired cavity and are formed each with an outer side face, which constitutes a portion of a side face of said top segment. Only one of said galleries is driven at any given time in any given cross-section of said top segment. Each of said galleries is provided on said outer side face with a supporting permanent first lining. The ground between said two galleries is removed to complete the excavation of said top segment.
