  • Patent number: 7735477
Abstract: An internal EGR control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of controlling the internal EGR amount with accuracy, when controlling the internal EGR by changing both the exhaust cam phase and the exhaust valve lift. An internal EGR control system for an internal combustion engine controls internal EGR in which combustion gases are caused to remain in a cylinder. An ECU sets a target cam phase serving as a target of the exhaust cam phase, and controls a variable exhaust cam phase mechanism such that the exhaust cam phase becomes equal to the target cam phase. ECU 2 sets a target lift of an exhaust valve according to a detected actual cam phase and calculated valve-closing timing, and controls a variable exhaust valve lift mechanism such that the lift of the exhaust valve becomes equal to the target lift.

  • Patent number: 7736785
Abstract: An oxygen-containing gas supply passage and an oxygen-containing gas discharge passage extend through a set of diagonal positions of a first metal separator, and a fuel gas supply passage and a fuel gas discharge passage extend through the other set of diagonal positions of the first metal separator. A fuel gas flow field is connected to the fuel gas supply passage through an inlet buffer at an upper position, and connected to the fuel gas discharge passage through an outlet buffer at a lower position. The inlet buffer includes a first inlet buffer area adjacent to the fuel gas supply passage and a second inlet buffer area adjacent to the fuel gas flow field. Grooves of the first inlet buffer area are deeper than grooves of the second inlet buffer area in the stacking direction.

  • Patent number: 7739676
Abstract: A method and computer program product is shown for use with a computer programming language having dynamic types and overloaded functions. A function data structure (a function handle) is constructed using a function name, which data structure contains or leads to information necessary to resolve function overloading, and also may lead to other auxiliary functions such as write, read or print. Application of the function data structure at the point of construction is functionally equivalent to application of a function name string. However, the function data structure may be applied without regard to the scope at the point of construction.

  • Patent number: 7739081
Abstract: Methods for modeling and executing systems in a linearly-implicit formulation of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) or differential algebraic equations (DAEs) are provided in modeling environments. The modeling environments may include block diagram modeling environments, such as time-based block diagram modeling environments. The block diagram modeling environments may include or be coupled to other modeling environments, such as physical modeling environments, so that models created in other modeling environments may also be introduced and solved in the linearly-implicit formulation of ODEs or DAEs in the block diagram modeling environments. Models describing the systems in the linearly-implicit formulation of ODEs or DAEs may also be created directly by users using user-defined blocks in the block diagram modeling environments. The present invention provides solvers for solving the system described in the linearly-implicit formulation of DAEs as well as ODEs in the block diagram modeling environment.

  • Patent number: 7732593
Abstract: Based at least in part on an understanding of the mechanisms by which small RNAs (e.g., naturally-occurring miRNAs) mediate RNA silencing in plants, rules have been established for determining, for example, the degree of complementarity required between an RNAi-mediating agent and its target, i.e., whether mismatches are tolerated, the number of mismatches tolerated, the effect of the position of the mismatches, etc. Such rules are useful, in particular, in the design of improved RNAi-mediating agents which allow for more exact control of the efficacy of RNA silencing.

  • Patent number: 7725904
Abstract: When a method is invoked from a computing environment, techniques presented herein automatically compare array input parameters with data-types accepted by methods defined within the object-oriented environment. Based on this comparison, the invention selects a method that best accepts the input arrays. The invention, therefore, allows a user to easily invoke methods from external objects, such as Java objects, directly from the technical computing environment of the mathematical tool.

  • Patent number: 7722086
Abstract: A falling-off preventing holder is provided to reliably connect a fuel pipe and a connector. First and second flanges project outwardly from an outer peripheral surface of the fuel pipe. The connector includes a larger diameter portion and a smaller diameter portion connected to the larger diameter portion via a step portion. A box-shaped falling-off preventing holder with an open surface is fitted to straddle the fuel pipe and the connector. First cutout of first end wall is fitted on the smaller diameter portion of the connector and abuts the step portion. Second end wall is fitted on the fuel pipe to abut the second flange. A pressure rib provided at the first end wall of the falling-off preventing holder is compressed by the step portion of the connector to be plastically deformed. A load in the connecting direction acting on the fuel pipe and the connector enables reliable connection.
