  • Patent number: 8133225
Abstract: The present application relates to an implant for tubular bones and to a method for treating fractures of tubular bones. The implant is used to connect two parts of a tubular bone that has broken with a substantially smooth break. The implant is formed by a shaped piece that is inserted into the medullary cavity of a broken tubular bone. The shaped piece has at least one through-opening, which has a substantially constant internal diameter and extends substantially through the shaped piece and through which a cord can be pulled in order to stabilize the fracture. The shaped piece is made of resorbable material, and two anchor parts can be secured on the cord. The anchor parts fix the cord to the bone, and the shaped piece exploits the principle of an internally braced stack in order to press the fracture surfaces of the bone against each other.

  • Patent number: 8126536
Abstract: In a method for determining the pelvic inlet plane of the pelvic bone, which is defined by the following three points of the pelvic bone: point A: spina iliaca anterior superior left point B: spina iliaca anterior superior right point C: symphysis pubis, by non-invasive determination of the position of one of the two points A or B and point C, in order to also be able to carry out this determination whenever point A or point B is not accessible, it is proposed that the position of the following points of the pelvic bone be additionally determined non-invasively: point D: spina iliaca posterior superior left point E: spina iliaca posterior superior right, and that the position of the pelvic inlet plane be calculated from the position of the non-invasively determined points A or B, C, D and E.

  • Patent number: 8127199
Abstract: An SDRAM convolutional interleaver with two paths. Symbols are assigned to a given one of the two paths, then are sorted to minimize (to one) a number of breaks in a sequential Interleaver write address. After sorting, the symbols are stored staggered in SRAM and burst written to SDRAM. Before writing to SDRAM, data is accumulated for four symbols at a time, and the data is written four symbols wide to optimize SDRAM access time. 8 bit symbols are written 32 bits at a time to SDRAM.

  • Patent number: 8105348
Abstract: A surgical obturator is provided which has a tubular housing, a blade carrier displaceable in the tubular housing in a longitudinal direction between an advanced cutting position and a retracted protected position. A blade with a cutting edge is held on the blade carrier. A protective cap engages over the blade and is displaceable in the tubular housing in the longitudinal direction between an advanced rest position in which the blade is completely covered in its protected position and a retracted work position. The protective cap has a slit through which the cutting edge passes. In a work position of the protective cap, the blade projects through the slit. A retracting device is arranged in the tubular housing for displacing the blade from the cutting position to the protected position. The retracting device is activatable by displacement of the protective cap from the work position to the rest position.

  • Patent number: 8074673
Abstract: A freeze-resistant metering valve is provided that comprises a magnetic part and a hydraulic part. The magnetic part has an armature biased by a spring. The hydraulic part has an annular space for receiving and conveying a liquid as well as a tappet facing a valve seat. The valve seat comprises a nozzle opening on the side facing away from the tappet. In a currentless state, the tappet blocks the annular space in the direction of an opening (nozzle opening) until a freezing pressure exerted onto the armature generates a sufficient force by virtue of the solidifying liquid. This force is used to counteract the spring force until a freeze expansion space is created by way of a relieving motion.
