  • Patent number: 8026787
Abstract: A ceramic component element is provided. The ceramic component element includes: an insulating ceramic base with pores formed on its surface and previously fired; and a functional ceramic sheet bonded to the insulating ceramic base and having electrical characteristics. The functional ceramic sheet is physically bonded to the insulating ceramic base by forming pressing a green sheet for the functional ceramic sheet on the insulating ceramic base at constant temperature and pressure so that parts of the green sheet are forced to put into the pores and anchored, and the functional ceramic sheet is chemically bonded to the insulating ceramic base by firing the anchored green sheet in such a manner that functional oxides of the green sheet penetrate the insulating ceramic base by solid diffusion to form a diffusion bonding layer.

  • Patent number: 8027288
Abstract: A first beacon slot is selected by a wireless communications device in a repeating time interval. Accordingly, beacons of the wireless communications device are transmitted during the first beacon slot. However, when an announcement of the first beacon slot selection of step is not received from a remote device within a predetermined amount of time, a second beacon slot is selected. Upon this selection, beacons of the wireless communications device are transmitted during the second beacon slot instead of the first beacon slot.

  • Patent number: 8024426
Abstract: Described are computer-based methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for non-disruptive data path modification using target mobility. A management server is in communication with a switching fabric. The switching fabric is in communication with a host and a data storage element. The management server creates a takeover target based on a primary target, where the primary target is part of a virtual data path between the host and the data storage. The switching fabric, through the direction of the server, modifies metadata associated with the virtual data path to expose the takeover target so that the takeover target becomes part of the virtual data path. The management server unexposes the primary target so that the primary target is no longer part of the virtual data path. The delay between exposing the takeover target and unexposing the primary target is sufficiently small to prevent an error condition from occurring at the host.

  • Patent number: 8024149
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a method for preventing the failure of a system, which includes one or more pipes, or one or more cooling jackets, or one or more fluid cooled system components carrying a fluid, involves detecting one or more pressure levels of the fluid in the one or more pipes at one or more points, then comparing the detected pressure levels to a corresponding one or more predetermined limitation values. If the detected pressure levels exceed the corresponding limitation values, a shut-down signal is generated. The shut-down signal triggers the adjusting of one or more systems responsible for causing thermal variations of the fluid, preventing the system from failing while allowing the system to continue operation shortly thereafter.

  • Patent number: 8011200
Abstract: The disclosure provides systems and methods for regulating and distributing cooling fluid through a plurality of heat sinks, such as cold plates, using a flow regulator, which sets the total flow rate, in combination with one or more individual orifices that allow further flow distribution as required by individual cold plates, despite flow variations upstream of the orifices. An orifice can be coupled to an orifice holder, which includes a body to support the orifice, and which may be coupled (directly or indirectly) to an inlet of the cold plate. Alternative manners of coupling orifices in the fluid flow besides an orifice holder can be employed. Generally, the flow regulator(s) is coupled with a plurality of orifices and conduits through which the cooling fluid flows. Related system components can be assembled as a module for installation into a cooling system that includes other system components such as a pump, compressor or other pressure sources for the cooling fluid.

  • Patent number: 8010448
Abstract: A system for structuring a repurchase agreement matchbook (“repo matchbook”) includes in one aspect, separating a repo matchbook from other capital market businesses of a company (such as a dealer). In one embodiment, an independent broker-dealer is created for the sole use of such a dealer. In another embodiment, an independent broker-dealer is created to gain profit by an independent group of investors. Another aspect of the system provides a method for creating a multi-tiered, varied risk capitalization structure for the creation of a new company, which in some embodiments is the independent broker-dealer. A method of risk management that may be applied to the operation of the repo matchbook or another business includes setting out strict operational guidelines for risk mitigation.

Abstract: A friction welding apparatus includes a first holder for holding a first work piece, a second holder for holding a second work piece, a thrust mechanism and a shaft. The thrust mechanism moves the second holder toward or away from the first holder. The shaft is connected to the first holder and the second holder for receiving thrust caused by the thrust mechanism. The shaft has a tie rod and an externally threaded member which is coaxially connected to the tie rod so that the externally threaded member is rotatable on an axis thereof. The thrust mechanism has the externally threaded member, an internally threaded member and a thrust motor. The internally threaded member is provided in either one of the first holder and the second holder and engaged with the externally threaded member. The thrust motor rotates the externally threaded member relative to the internally threaded member.

  • Patent number: 8005426
Abstract: According to the present invention, a method for controlling a mobile terminal device is provided, wherein said device comprises a smartcard module and a near field communication module. In a first operation a smartcard operation on said mobile terminal device is started which results in an activation or switching on of said smartcard module. The smartcard application may be started by a user or based on the location of said mobile terminal device. That is the case for instance if the mobile terminal device is located in the area of a point of sales terminal, the smartcard application will automatically starts. Further, time controlled starting of certain applications is conceivable. Then it may be determined if said started smartcard application is an application for performing data transactions with external entities and in case of an affirmative determination a connection between said smartcard module and said NFC-module will be activated.

  • Patent number: 7992840
Abstract: The disclosure provides an efficient design for a pressure rated oil field gate valve that meets the challenges of providing a quality product with minimal increase in price due to the design. It minimizes weight increase in the valve body over valves not meeting strict pressure specifications, due to strengthening ribs at strategic places without having to increase the overall body size as in commonplace in the industry. It provides redundancy of seals with minimal costs and no change in seat pockets over valves not capable of meeting the higher standards. It provides multiple shear points along a valve stem that can still allow a user to operate the valve from external to the valve bonnet. It further provides for additional sealing of the valve bonnet to the valve body by using elasticity in metal over long lengths to maintain a compression seal between the bonnet and the body.
