  • Patent number: 7971555
Abstract: A method of treating waste from chickens in a chicken house includes applying a layer of short paper fibers over a floor of the chicken house horizontally below the chickens in the chicken house, mixing manure from the chickens with the layer of short paper fibers, and removing the mixed manure and short paper fibers from the chicken house. The manure is turned with the layer of short paper fibers such that the manure and the short paper fibers are intimately mixed together. The removed mixture can be spread over land.

  • Patent number: 7971314
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a filter cage having an improved flow path suitable even for restricted flow regions of a float container in the cage. The filter cage departs from generally accepted structural considerations and provides flow paths to one or more sides of the cage outside the restricted flow regions of the float container, but within the cross-sectional area of the cage structure. In one exemplary embodiment, the cage is oval-shaped with a cross-sectional area defined by a major and minor axis. A restricted flow region, such as the float container, encompasses a cross-sectional area corresponding in size to a cross-sectional area defined by the minor axis of the oval-shaped cage. The remaining portion of the cage cross-sectional areas provides one or more flow paths outward from the float container in the direction of the major axis of the cage.

  • Patent number: 7972119
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor includes a housing, a rotary shaft, a swash plate, a suction pressure region, a suction throttle valve, an oil reservoir, a lubricating oil passage, a gas flow passage, a communication passage, and a throttle mechanism. The suction-pressure region includes a suction chamber and a suction passage. The suction throttle valve is arranged in the suction passage and defines an upstream suction-pressure region and a downstream suction-pressure region. The lubricating oil passage connects the oil reservoir to the upstream suction-pressure region. The gas flow passage connects the crank chamber to the suction chamber. The communication passage connects the lubricating oil passage to at least one of the downstream suction-pressure region, the gas flow passage and the crank chamber. The throttle mechanism is provided in the lubricating oil passage between the oil reservoir and a position where the communication passage connects to the lubricating oil passage.

  • Patent number: 7971030
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system for synchronicity independent, resource delegating, power and instruction optimizing processor is provided where instructions are delegated between various processing resources of the processor. An Integer Processing Unit (IPU) of the processor delegates complicated mathematical instructions to a Mathematical Processing Unit (MPU) of the processor. Furthermore, the processor puts underutilized processing resources to sleep thereby increasing power usage efficiency. A cache of the processor is also capable of accepting delegated operations from the IPU. As such, the cache performs various logical operations on delegated requests allowing it to lock and share memory without requiring extra processing cycles by the entire processor.

  • Patent number: 7968077
Abstract: A method for manufacturing titanium dioxide by reacting titanium tetrachloride with an oxygen-bearing gas in a tubular reactor and subsequently cooling the titanium dioxide particle/gas mixture in a cooling section, where the gas/particle flow is caused to rotate. Titanium tetrachloride is introduced in the cross-sectional plane of the reactor, but not in the radial direction, whereby the flow velocity of the oxygen-bearing gas is more than 20 m/s. Scrub solids free the inner wall of the reactor and the reactor cooling section of TiO2 deposits, thereby achieving a better cooling performance, which produces a TiO2 pigment with a narrow particle size distribution.

  • Patent number: 7965982
Abstract: An apparatus for short-range wireless communications includes a transceiver configured to operate different modes. Each of these modes corresponds to a particular wireless link type. In addition, the apparatus includes a controller for selectively activating one of the operational modes of the transceiver. The controller sends one or more operational parameters to components within transmitter and receiver portions of the transceiver, such as filters, amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, and digital-to-analog converters. Such parameters control the operational characteristics of these components.

  • Patent number: 7956749
Abstract: A system for determining compatibility between various items is disclosed. A wireless communication device is used to scan a machine-readable tag which includes a plurality of information fields. The information fields include at least identification information of the primary object to which the tag is affixed, list of compatible items, characteristic information of the primary object or other objects, etc. The scanned information from the tag is compared to information in other tags. If the at least some of the information in the tag affixed to the primary object matches the information in one or more other tags, a notification event is triggered to inform the user of the match.

  • Patent number: 7951909
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising a peptide immunogen useful for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. More particularly, the peptide immunogen comprises a main functional/regulatory site, an N-terminal fragment of Amyloid ? (A?) peptide linked to a helper T cell epitope (Th) having multiple class II MHC binding motifs. The peptide immunogen elicits a site-directed immune response against the main functional/regulatory site of the A? peptide and generate antibodies, which are highly cross-reactive to the soluble A?1-42 peptide and the amyloid plaques formed in the brain of Alzheimer's Disease patients. The antibodies elicited being cross reactive to the soluble A?1-42 peptide, promote fibril disaggregation and inhibit fibrillar aggregation leading to immunoneutralization of the “soluble A?-derived toxins”; and being cross-reactive to the amyloid plaques, accelerate the clearance of these plaques from the brain.

  • Patent number: 7945496
Abstract: A method of computer-assisted price modeling is provided, which uses a reference price to assist in evaluating discretionary pricing of transactional services provided (i) by a professional among his own transactions or (ii) by a target professional among others' transactions. A universe of pricing episode data is segmented into groupings based on price predictive parameters. These data are then arranged in each grouping according to price. A reference price is determined within each grouping based on a predetermined level, rank or percentile. This reference price can then be used to evaluate the pricing episode data and provide various calculations or comparisons, including the revenue opportunity that could have been obtained by pricing at the reference price.
