Abstract: A mixing apparatus having a mixing impeller affixed to the end of a mixer shaft which is reciprocably and rotatably or non-rotatably mounted thru mixer seal structure which has surface portions adapted to be brought into sealing engagement with the open filler end of a retail off-the-shelf tube of viscous caulking or sealant compound or the like, wherein the shaft and impeller are adapted to be reciprocated thru the compound and an additive contained in the tube substantially the entire length of the tube to rapidly and intimately mix the compound with colorant or other additive added directly into the retail tube thru its filler (back) end.
Abstract: A method treating a root canal in a tooth by introducing into the pulp chamber of a tooth and pulsing a laser light into the fluid reservoir so as to disintegrate pulp within the root canal without generation of any significant heat in said liquid fluid so as to avoid elevating the temperature of any of the dentin, tooth, or other adjacent tissue more than about 5° C.

Abstract: A method of verifying integrated circuit designs, by constructing a series of atomic generators in a staged, hierarchical order, applying a lowest of the hierarchical generator stages to device level test cases of the verification process, applying a highest of the hierarchical generator stages to system level test cases of the verification process, reusing code written for and used in the lowest hierarchical generator stage in a next higher generator stage, creating a constraint scenario in the highest hierarchical generator stage, and injecting the constraint scenario into a next lower generator stage.
Abstract: A scan clock generator includes a clock signal input for receiving a clock signal, a scan shift mode signal input for receiving a scan shift mode signal, and a sequence controller coupled to the clock signal input for gating a selected number of clock signal pulses at a time to generate a sequence of nonconcurrent scan clock signals at separate outputs respectively in response to a first state of the scan shift mode signal.
Abstract: A custom-fitted dental appliance having a base member with a generally U-shaped horizontal portion with opposing posterior sections and an anterior section disposed between the posterior sections. The base member has a vertical portion connected to a forward edge of the horizontal portion. The vertical portion has an arcuate curvature substantially following the curvature of the anterior section. The appliance includes over-molded molar pads that are bonded to the upper surfaces of the posterior sections of the base member. An over-molded anterior flange is bonded to the vertical portion of the base member. The molar pads and the anterior flange are formed from a thermoplastic material having a Vicat softening temperature below that of the base member. After heating the appliance to above the softening temperature of the over-molded portions, the molar pads and anterior flange may be custom fitted to the upper teeth and gums of the wearer.
Abstract: A system and method for detection of alpha particles generated by a test material in proximity to a light atomic weight element. The system includes a neutron detector that is configured to detect a rate of generation of neutrons produced by an (alpha, n) reaction between the test material and the light atomic weight element. There is also at least one gamma-ray detector configured to measure a rate of generation of 511 keV gamma rays produced by an annihilation reaction triggered by a positron emission from a daughter product of the light atomic weight element. A comparator is configured to compare the rate of generation of neutrons and the rate of generation of 511 keV gamma rays.
Abstract: A single-use scleral marker, including a one-piece molded-plastic marker having an elongate body; a pair of opposite forked ends, and a pair of removable guards, each of the guards encircling one of the ends and having connection ends which connect the guard to the body, wherein the connection ends may be broken by exerting a bending force thereon to enable the guard to be removed.
Abstract: A hybrid solar lighting distribution system and components having at least one hybrid solar concentrator, at least one fiber receiver, at least one hybrid luminaire, and a light distribution system operably connected to each hybrid solar concentrator and each hybrid luminaire. A controller operates all components.

Abstract: A programmable apparatus improves perception of sound by a person. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a processor, digital-to-analog converter, audio output section and means for generating first and second control signals. The processor executes one or more available programs for processing digital audio signals based on control signals. The digital-to-analog converter generates output analog audio signals based on the digital audio signals. The audio output section receives and amplifies the output analog audio signals, generates audible sound based thereon and provides the audible sound to the person. The memory stores programs for processing the digital audio signals. Based on an action by the person, a first control signal is generated which causes the processor to switch from one available program to another available program so that the person may cycle through and evaluate each of the available programs.
Abstract: A disposal system including a container having a door movable between a first position and a second position for introducing material to be disposed into the container, and a sensing system operatively associated with the container to sense the position of the door and to generate an alarm signal in response to a predetermined position of the door.

Abstract: A circuit for implementing elliptic curve and hyperelliptic curve encryption and decryption operations, having a read only memory with no more than about two kilobytes of accessible memory, containing first programming instructions. An arithmetic logic unit has access to second programming instructions that are resident in a gate-level program disposed in the arithmetic logic unit, and is operable to receive data from no more than one input FIFO register. A microcontroller has no more than about two thousand gates, and is adapted to read the first programming instructions from the read only memory, send control signals to the arithmetic logic unit, and receive flags from the arithmetic logic unit. The arithmetic unit reads the third programming instructions, selectively performs elliptic curve and hyperelliptic curve encryption and decryption operations on the data according to the second programming instructions and the microcontroller, and sends output to no more than one output FIFO register.
