  • Patent number: 8316849
Abstract: An integrated respiratory ventilation system and method for its calibration is described. The system includes a ventilator having air conduits, transducers adapted to emit signals proportional to the level of air pressure or air flow within the air conduits, and inspiration, expiration and exhaust ports. A processor-controlled calibrator is in communication with one or more of the air conduits. A preferred calibrator includes a water-filled outer column and a vertically aligned inner column extending into the outer column, the inner column having an upper end in communication with at least one of the ports. A processor controls the opening and closing of the ports and the level of air pressure in, and air flow from, the inner column to measure the level of transducer signals at two known pressures and two known flows. The processor uses the measured transducer signals to calibrate the transducer.

  • Patent number: 8308117
Abstract: Drywall mounting systems for accessories are shown and described. In one example, a system includes an accessory adapter plate, a fixation plate, a drywall fastener, and a second fastener. The drywall fastener is used to secure the accessory adapter plate to the drywall. The fixation plate is then secured to the accessory adapter plate with the second fastener, which, inter alia, prevents the rotation of the accessory adapter plate. Accessories can then be quickly and securely attached to the accessory adapter plate.

  • Patent number: 8296911
Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing a shifted angle fabric and the product produced thereby. The apparatus includes a supply of fabric and a differential tenter frame. The differential tenter frame includes a frame, a pair of opposed, constant path rails and a differential drive. The differential tenter frame is located downstream from the supply of fabric for receiving the opposing edges of the fabric and advancing the opposing edges at different speeds to shift the weft angle of the fabric as the fabric travels the length of the differential tenter frame. A high velocity, low heat drying range adjacent to the differential tenter frame simultaneously dries the fabric as the fabric travels the length of the differential tenter frame. A take-up roll downstream from the differential tenter frame then takes up the dried fabric.

  • Patent number: 8299374
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for accurately measuring the weight of a moving stream of particulate material at different flow volumes. The apparatus includes a dynamic measurement device with a deflectable curved pan for measuring the amount of material flowing along a pathway; a supply source for discharging material along the pathway; and a gate valve having an inclined gate member with a leading edge controlling the volume of material discharged from the supply source, the valve reducing the height of discharge of the material above the dynamic measurement device proportional to the increase in the flow volume of material being discharged. A gate valve is also described that includes a gate member with a fully open position and a fully closed position, the valve aperture being open a width determined by the bridging characteristics of the particulate material being discharged when the gate member is in the fully closed position.

  • Patent number: 8252188
Abstract: A separator for separating F.O.G. from an effluent that contains F.O.G. includes a tank, an inlet to the tank for receiving effluent that contains F.O.G., and an outlet to allow grey water to leave the tank. The tank has a size to enable stratification of a layer of F.O.G. present in the tank on water in the tank, and first and second thermocouples are positioned at differing levels in the tank. Conductors couple the thermocouples to sensors, and differing voltages in the thermocouples can be sensed to determine if the thermocouples are surrounded by F.O.G. or water.

  • Patent number: 8235252
Abstract: A high-speed actuator moves a valve stopper to a selected position to control material flow. The actuator includes a rod carrying first and second axially spaced solenoid armatures attached to the stopper. First and second solenoid coil surround and are spaced from the rod to bias the first solenoid armature along with the rod and valve stopper. A linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) responsive to the position of the second armature determines the instantaneous position of the valve stopper. A valve position control circuit receives a valve position set point from a user's input, and a valve position feedback signal from the LVDT. The valve position control circuit includes first and second solenoid coil drive signals that urge the first armature and stopper to the valve position set point. A signal generator circuit vibrates the valve about a set point to enhance material discharge.
