  • Patent number: 6854542
Abstract: A heat deflector for a Harley-Davidson™ v-twin engine motorcycle or a similarly designed and styled motorcycle having a similar v-twin engine. The heat deflector is mounted above the rear cylinder of the v-twin engine and between the leg of a user and the rear cylinder of the v-twin engine. The heat deflector deflects hot air away from the leg of the user and away from saddlebags that may be mounted behind the leg of the user bilaterally on the rear wheel of the motorcycle. The heat deflector provides greater comfort for a user on a long distance drive. It is constructed to blend seemlessly with the appearance of the motorcycle and it reduces condensation in saddlebags. The heat deflector of this invention provides much of the comfort of an alternative designed motorcycle with a fairing enclosing the engine while retaining the distinctive appearance of the Harley-Davidson™ or a Harley-Davidson™ type v-twin engine motorcycle.

  • Patent number: 6799471
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for detection of susceptibility to moisture damage for asphalt mixes. A sample of asphalt mix is placed inside a chamber, which is partially filled with water. An increased air pressure is applied to the chamber. A controlled evacuation of the water from the chamber takes place while the increased pressure is maintained in the chamber. Pressure is released from the chamber and water is returned to the chamber. The cycle is repeated a predetermined number of times. Changes in conductivity and turbidity of the water may be monitored to indicate mixture stripping. When a chosen number of cycles of a pressurized emptying and filling of the chamber is complete, the asphalt sample is removed from the chamber and tested against a controlled sample. The test procedure adapts itself readily to a dual chamber design so that two samples may be tested simultaneously. A vacuum may also be applied to the chamber in addition to pressurizing the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6550768
Abstract: A skill based game employing kickers to direct coins falling over the edge of a catcher plate to a player's hopper. The players deposit coins in a slot which directs the coins to a first catcher plate. Coins are pushed over the edge of this catcher plate to a second catcher plate where they are further pushed toward the edge of the second catcher plate. As coins accumulate, coins may fall over the edge of the second catcher plate. Kickers are disposed below the second catcher plate under a player's control. If a player employs the kicker correctly, the coins falling over the edge of the second catcher plate are directed to a player's hopper. If the player fails to employ the kickers correctly, coins fall into a hopper and are retained by the operator of the machine.

  • Patent number: 6363566
Abstract: A blockage clearing apparatus to clear blockages in both drain valves and in pipes. A cylindrical housing holds a piston connected to a cylindrical rod. The piston moves within the cylindrical housing in response to pressure placed on the piston either manually by an operator or by hydraulic or pneumatic power. As the piston moves in the cylindrical housing, the rod connected to the piston moves back and forth in response to the motion of the piston. The blockage clearing apparatus is mounted to a drain valve or to an opening in a pipe. When operated by pneumatic power, valves, manual or solenoid controlled, will control the flow of air in and out of ports in the cylindrical housing, creating a pressure differential within the housing to actuate the motion of the piston, hence, of the rod. The rod will extend from the housing through an open drain valve and into the pipe that is in fluid communication with the drain valve.

  • Patent number: 6255652
Abstract: Method and apparatus for detecting insect infestation within enclosed wall areas by detecting increased concentrations of a tell-tale gas. An intake nozzle is connected to an infrared gas analyzer by tubing and a pump. Ambient air in a room where an insect infestation in a wall is suspected is first sampled. A baseline gas reading is obtained. A small hole is made in the area of the wall where an insect infestation is suspected. The intake nozzle is placed within the hole and a second gas sample is taken. Concentration of the tell-tale gas in the second sample is compared to the concentration in the gas of the first ambient air sample. An increased concentration will ordinarily indicate presence of an insect infestation in the suspected area In most applications the tell-tale gas is CO2.
