  • Patent number: 5970619
Abstract: A device for guiding alignment in trailer hitching with a trailer cup attachment and a towing vehicle attachment. The trailer cup attachment adjustably clips over the trailer cup on the drawbar of the trailer. The trailer cup attachment has at least one vertical rod and an alignment indicator equipped with guide lights and a sound generator to indicate when the ball on the towing vehicle is in hitching position relative to the trailer cup. The towing vehicle attachment has a mounting base for removable temporary mounting on the towing vehicle. Telescoping rods are rotatably mounted in the mounting base. At the end of the telescoping rods is a fluorescent colored activating ball which is positioned directly above the tow ball on the towing vehicle. The alignment guide and activating ball are positioned to be visible to the operator of the towing vehicle through a rear view mirror, rear window, or the like.

  • Patent number: 5973674
Abstract: A cursor control device with four (4) pins in an orthogonal array supported by elongated beams. Mounted above the pins is a palm shaped surface. When the palm shaped surface is depressed, it presses downward on one or more of the orthogonal pins which deflect the supporting beams downward toward a light emitter and sensor. The deflection of the beam changes the intensity of the light reflected off the beam which is sensed by the light sensor resulting in a change in electrical signal which is used to control cursor movement on a computer display.

  • Patent number: 5906478
Abstract: A belt pumping device using an endless belt driven between two perforated drums. One drum is submerged in a liquid to be pumped with the other drum positioned outside of the liquid to be pumped. At least a portion of the endless belt is constructed of absorbing material. The belt passes over the drum submerged in the liquid and the belt absorbs the liquid, which is then expressed from the belt on the other drum and collected in a collection pan for transportation to another location.

  • Patent number: 5899139
Abstract: A device for baling pinestraw including a compressive chamber with a gate at one end of the chamber, a compressive arm, and a compressive plate adapted for motion along the longitudinal dimension of the compressive chamber. Pinestraw is loaded at the gate end of the compressive chamber and the compressive plate and compressive arm are moved from the opposite end of the compressive chamber toward the gated end of the compressive chamber compressing the pinestraw contained in the compressive chamber. The compressive motion of the compressive plate and compressive arm is stopped when the pinestraw is compressed to the desired size. The compressed pinestraw is tied off into a bale through slots in the compressive chamber, the gate, and the compressive plate. Once the compressed pinestraw is tied off into a bale, the gate at one end of the compressive chamber is opened.

  • Patent number: 5865100
Abstract: A gas burner design to facilitate use of a gas fired barbecue grill as a smoker. A conductive metal plate is fixed above outlet holes on a gas burner so that when the gas is ignited the flames first must stream horizontally along a protruding horizontal lip on the conductive metal plate. If the gas flow is increased, the flames stream around and upward from the conductive metal plate. A depressed area is formed in the center of the conductive metal plate. Wood chips or other combustible smoking materials may be placed in this depressed area. The gas is turned on at a low rate of flow and ignited. The gas heats the metal plate, which causes the smoking materials to begin to char and smolder. The conductive metal plate also serves to distribute and diffuse the heat generated by the flames making it easier to maintain desirable lower temperatures within the grill for use as a smoker. When the gas flow is increased, the flames stream around and above the metal plate for use of the grill for conventional broiling.

  • Patent number: 5844176
Abstract: A speaker enclosure with at least one woofer and one mid-range speaker with associated parallel sound channels and ports for direction of the back waves generated by the speakers. The woofer and mid-range speaker are in a spaced relationship with the sound channel ports for the woofer speaker in close proximity to the mid-range speaker and the mid-range sound channel port in close proximity to the woofer speaker. The sound channels for the mid-range and woofer speakers are adjacent and parallel to each other. The back waves generated by the speakers travel along the sound channels which form a sound traveling path. The ports are located at a distance from the speakers generating the sound waves, but adjacent to other speakers, resulting in a life-like and rich sound.

  • Patent number: 5839772
Abstract: An attachment to increase the capacity of the carrying bin of a utility cart or of a wheelbarrow includes a plurality of frames with a barrier in the frames and with the frames removably connected to the carrying bin. A portion of the attachment will open at an end of the carrying bin providing for easy loading and unloading of the carrying bin. The frames connect to each other by slots that provide for the attachment to adjust to different sized carrying bins. The frames are easily removed when the extra bin capacity provided by the attachment is not needed.

  • Patent number: 5669073
Abstract: An improved golf glove for assisting a golfer to grip the club properly, for placing the wrist in the maximum desirable un-cocked position as the ball is addressed, for promoting arm extension and for maximizing the chance of returning the club face to the proper position at impact. The improved golf glove includes an elastic strap attached to the palm side base of the glove at a slight angle approximately parallel to a line along the base of the middle finger, ring finger, and little finger of the glove. As the club is gripped, the elastic strap is stretched to attach to the back of the middle finger, ring finger, and little finger portions of the glove which positions the club in the hand along that base of the middle finger, ring finger, and little finger and ensures an even grip pressure throughout the swing.

  • Patent number: 5624563
Abstract: A process and apparatus for biological purification of wastewater resulting in reduction of biological oxygen demand, reduction of suspended solids, and for nitrification, wherein the process involves aerating wastewater in a treatment zone for reduction of biological oxygen demand, transferring the mixed liquor from this treatment zone on an alternate basis to a second or third treatment zone which undergoes an aeration/settle, fill and decant cycle. As the second or third zone is receiving influent, it is being decanted in a modified plug-flow fashion. The alternate treatment zones allow for a continuous discharge of treated effluent during the process. During aeration of the second or third treatment zone, mixed liquor is recycled to the first treatment zone. Sludge is retained long enough to achieve nitrification. This invention is particularly suited for modification of aerated lagoon systems to achieve nitrification with a high degree of efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5522300
Abstract: A drumstick station for holding drumsticks to be readily accessible to a drummer during a performance. The drumstick station has a stick holder which is adjustably mounted to a plurality of telescoping rods which may be mounted on a tripod base or on a drum itself. The telescoping rods allow a vertical adjustment in the height of the stick holder. The adjustable mounting of the stick holder to the telescoping rods allows the stick holder to be adjusted in two planes in addition to the vertical adjustment allowed by the telescoping rods. A variety of configurations within the stick holder allow a wide choice for a drummer in determining how the sticks are held within the drumstick station.

  • Patent number: 5409228
Abstract: A visual alignment device made of any appropriate high impact material that may be readily attached as a temporary training device or bonded as an integral part of many existing putter type golf clubs that assists the player in visualizing the putting line, in positioning his eyes over the putting line, and in properly aligning the putter head with the ball to be struck and in maintaining that alignment throughout the stroke. The top half of the device consists of a hollow hemisphere of the same diameter as a golf ball containing a sighting slot running substantially across it from the front to the rear and a number of small holes that simulate dimples in the ball and also allow light to enter the device.
