  • Patent number: 8317441
Abstract: A liner for a transverse trough of a coil-transport railway car for cushioning a coil and for preventing lateral creep of the load during transport. Each sloping wall of a transverse trough is lined with at least one liner to prevent lateral creep in both transverse directions. Each liner is comprised of a horizontal bottom base or support layer, from which upwardly project a plurality of spaced-apart, flexible fingers or ribs. The fingers or ribs of the liner of the invention may be oriented leftward or rightward in direction of cant, and oriented such as to face or incline toward the centerline of the transport vehicle, and behave or act as leaf springs. When the load of coil is placed onto the liner of the present invention, the fingers thereof serve as the load-bearing surface, and bend or deflect in accordance with the weight of the load, to thereby support the load of coil.

  • Patent number: 8286829
Abstract: A security closure system for terminating the hose-connector connected to the outlet of a storage tank whose contents are to be periodically pumped out. A first male-outlet component is provided with an outer, circumferential annual groove for reception therein of camming elements of camming arms, and has a terminal projecting tongue provided with an opening or hole for receiving a locking device, such as a padlock. The male-component is further provided with an enlarged mounting flange for mounting the male-component to a wall of the storage tank or to a bulkhead adjacent the storage tank. The security closure system also comprises a second female part, which is a female closure cap that matingly receives therein the first male-component. The closure cap has a slot for passing therethrough the tongue of the first male-component, whereby a padlock or other lock may be used for locking the cap in place over the first male-component.

  • Patent number: 8282325
Abstract: A cradle unit for supporting metal coils, and other cylindrical objects, consists of two, parallel and separate saddles made of polyurethane or other material having a hardness range of between 50 Shore A and 90 Shore D, which saddles are connected together via a pair of parallel steel angle-brackets that provide inherent structural integrity to the cradle unit itself, while still allowing the unit to conform to the shape or level of the underlying support structure. The single cradle unit may be as a mobile support-device, or may be bolted or otherwise attached to a surface for a specific location of the stored product. The cradle unit is generally concave-shaped and has a first main or central lower concave curvature of a first radius, and a middle or secondary transitional curvature that connects the first main lower curvature to an upper, tertiary concave curvature of a second radius greater than the first radius, so that coils or rolls of different diameter may be safely and firmly supported.

  • Patent number: 8108356
Abstract: In one aspect of the invention, there is disclosed a recovery method in a storage system that integrates shadow page and deferred update techniques. Updates of a page in the buffer are not immediately reflected to the database, but are deferred until the transaction is committed. Instead, the updated buffer page is stored in the log volume in the unit of a page. When reading a page that does not exist in the buffer from the disk, the up-to-date page from the database or from the log volume is read. Then the log table index is used to determine whether the up-to-date page exists in the database or in the log volume and to identify the position of the page stored in the log volume if the up-to-date page exists in the log volume.

  • Patent number: 8083369
Abstract: An adapter bracket which enables the installation of a door frame or louver into a recessed fixture that sits on a T-bar supported by a ceiling without having to custom design a hinge and latch system to match the original fixture or require the installation of a false frame that lifts the fixture. The brackets slide between the T-bar and the existing fixture. The bracket is also slightly wider than the T-bar opening. The door frame will keep the brackets spaced wide enough to ensure that the assembly would not fall out of the opening. The hinge and latch mechanism for the door frame is built into its end rails and latches onto the bracket to ensure the door frame is supported and held in position.

  • Patent number: 8010899
Abstract: The present invention provides to a system and method of providing a data-skin based on a standard schema. In the data skin provision method, a user accesses and logs in to a data skin server. A meta-database is searched for a list of XSDs and skins to represent data. If desired XSD exists, the data skin server maps the XSD to data of the user, thus creating an XML document. A skin storage means is searched for a skin file and the skin file is selected. If the selected skin file is a payable skin file, user information is input to a payment server, and then payment is processed and an approval is obtained. The selected skin file is downloaded to a user computer, or the XML document is mapped to the skin file and various format documents are created and downloaded to the user computer.

  • Patent number: 7997526
Abstract: The present invention includes an embodiment defined as a flying vehicle having a pair of wings and a transition assembly partially housed within each of the pair of wings. The transition assembly has ends rotatable with respect to each other and separately secured to the wing in which the end is housed. The transition assembly has a first position defined as having each wing positioned at an angle offset from a substantial horizontal orientation and oriented in an opposite direction from the other wing. When the transition assembly is in the first position the vehicle spins and will fly in a substantially hovering vertical orientation. The transition assembly has a second position defined as having each wing positioned in a substantial horizontal position. When the transition assembly is in the second position the vehicle will fly in a substantially horizontal orientation.
