  • Patent number: 7155011
Abstract: The present invention relates to an encryption method for encrypting information including a series of multiple unit blocks, one at a time, a decryption method for decrypting multiple encrypted unit blocks, one at a time, and a recording and reproducing apparatus that uses those methods. The seed of an encryption key for encrypting each unit block and the seed of an encryption key for decrypting each encrypted unit block, which are used by those methods and the recording and reproducing apparatus, are based on a unit block that is one or more unit blocks before the current unit block in a reproduction order or on information generated by encrypting one or more unit blocks before the current unit block. Alternatively, the seed of an encryption key for encrypting each unit block and the seed of an encryption key for decrypting each encrypted unit block are information based on an encryption key for encrypting a unit block before the current unit block in a reproduction order.

  • Patent number: 7154835
Abstract: With two consecutive product-coded ECC blocks, EB1 and EB2, as a set, the rth row of first ECB block EB1 is followed by the rth row of second ECC block EB2 in such a way that the first row of first ECC block EB1 is followed by the first row of second ECB block EB2, which is followed by the second row of first ECC block ECB1, which is followed by the second row of second ECC block EB2, and so on, to interleave data on a row basis. That is, data of two ECC blocks, EB1 and EB2, is allocated alternately on a row basis. This allocation method allows an error to be distributed after reproduction even when a serious burst error extending 18 rows occurs in an ECC block.

  • Patent number: 7148478
Abstract: A method and device are presented for measuring the electrical properties of a specimen. The specimen is excited with high energy radiation to cause emission of internal charged particles from the specimen. Electrical power is supplied to a circuit, that is formed by the specimen and any added component connected to a back contact of the specimen. The electric power supply includes at least one of the following: irradiating the circuit with low energy charged particles; subjecting the circuit to an external field of the kind affecting the flux of emitted internal charged particles, and supplying a bias voltage to the back contact of the specimen. During the power supply to the specimen, at least one of the following is carried out: an electric current through the specimen is measured, and the emitted charged particles are analyzed versus their energy (using a contactless voltmeter) which provides local potential values at chemical entities of the specimen.
