  • Patent number: 8311349
Abstract: Techniques, apparatus and systems for image decoding are described. A method performed by an image decoding apparatus includes generating motion compensation information and a quantized result of an error image that represents a difference between a current image to be decoded and a prediction image obtained by performing inter prediction on the current image from a bitstream of the current image. A reference image of the current image is received from an external memory unit based on the generated motion compensation information. The method includes restoring the current image based on the received reference image of the current image and the generated quantized result of the error image representing the difference between the current image and the prediction image. Receiving the reference image of the current image is performed while restoring a previous image, and restoring the current image is performed while receiving a reference image of a subsequent image.

  • Patent number: 8310438
Abstract: An image display device includes a gain calculator, a multiplier and an overdrive unit. The gain calculator calculates a ratio “Gmax0/Gmax1” as gain, with respect to each segmented region of liquid crystal panel. The symbol “Gmax1” represents a maximum gradation in one frame period of an image signal to be supplied to each segmented region. The symbol “Gmax0” represents a maximum gradation to be determined depending on the number of bits in the image signal. The multiplier multiplies an image signal subjected to frame frequency conversion in a frame frequency conversion unit by the gain to generate an image signal subjected to the area control processing, with respect to each segmented region. The overdrive unit emphasizes the image signal subjected to the area control processing, using an image signal generated by delaying the image signal subjected to the area control processing for one frame period.

  • Patent number: 8311342
Abstract: A method for the classification of objects (16) and/or the recognition of their position and/or their orientation in space is set forth, wherein measurement object data points of a measurement object surface are generated using a distance resolving receiver unit (18) and, with the aid of model object data determined in advance, hypotheses on the class, the position and/or the orientation of a measurement object (16) are proposed and verified from the measurement object data points. A plurality of different hypothesis tests can be executed cascaded in such a way that only on verification of a hypothesis through a hypothesis test is a subsequent hypothesis test carried out within this cascade, until either a hypothesis is falsified by the failure of a hypothesis test or a hypothesis is verified as a whole through a complete run through a cascade without falsification.

  • Patent number: 8311276
Abstract: An object tracking apparatus tracks an object on image data captured continuously. The object tracking apparatus includes an object color adjusting unit and a particle filter processing unit. The object color adjusting unit calculates tendency of color change in regions on image data and adjusts a color of the object set as an object color based on the tendency of color change to obtain a reference color. The particle filter processing unit estimates a region corresponding to the object on image data based on likelihood of each particle calculated by comparing a color around each particle with the reference color, using particles which move on image data according to a predefined rule.

  • Patent number: 8308156
Abstract: A feeding apparatus for print media comprises a pressure roller that is provided at an upstream side of an image forming section in a feeding direction of the print media and rotates with being pressed onto an upper surface of a feeding path. The pressure roller includes a plurality of unit rollers aligned along a primary sweeping direction perpendicular to the feeding direction. A center unit roller of the unit rollers is made wider than other unit rollers in the primary sweeping direction. According to the apparatus, cocklings on print media can be removed at desired portions with a simple configuration by controlling suction forces due to varying relative positions to suction ports. Therefore, flatten state of print media in the image forming section can be easily ensured.
