Patent number: 5063966Abstract: A direct drive servovalve in which rotational motion of a motor rotor is converted into linear motion of a spool valve to direct fluid to a desired load. The drive motor is supported upon a housing within which the spool valve is disposed. The rotor of the drive motor engages the valve to cause it to reciprocate within a bore provided within the housing. A bearing supporting the rotor shaft is unsealed to permit fluid to flow through the bearing and into the interior of the rotor to provide lubrication and cooling. Disposed within the flow path are dirt shields at each end of the bearing which provide a tortious, labyrinth flow path for the fluid with spacing between the dirt shields and the bearing race being such as to allow fluid to flow but at the same time to remove contaminants entrained within the fluid.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1990Date of Patent: November 12, 1991Assignee: HR Textron Inc.Inventors: Russell P. Patent number: 5061919Abstract: For a raster-scanned, video display apparatus, individual pixel display data is stored in a double image frame buffer. A valid count buffer then holds a count for each pixel. Current valid counts are stored, as at times of image buffer updating which updating includes storing display data changes and a fraction of the total display (background). At times of display, current counts from the count buffer are tested against valid counts as stored for each pixel in the valid count buffer to determine the selection of display data from the image frame buffer or alternate background data. A window frame buffer resolves the display into windows that are accommodated by the system with valid counts for each window.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1989Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Assignee: Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp.Inventor: Gary S. Patent number: 5060630Abstract: A control valve for limiting the passage of water between a water source and a hot water tank within an automatic control system for water heaters. The control valve contains a sensing means for determining pressure differentials between the hot water tank, the water source and the delivery system. A rod is secured within the control valve housing for limiting the movement of the sensing means when the hot water heater ruptures of leaks. The sensing means also includes a valve seat which acts to control the entrance of water from the water source into the hot water tank. The valve seat defines a leak path which prevents water pressure loss in the hot water tank during a water cooling cycle.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 1991Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Inventor: Wayne S. Patent number: 5055697Abstract: A source of infrared radiation or an infrared radiator is disclosed for use in surveillance systems, and the like. The infrared radiator comprises a light source for providing a beam containing infrared radiation and a radiation filter disposed in the path of the beam to selectively pass only the infrared radiation. The light source and radiation filter are disposed within an inner housing which is in heat transfer proximity thereto. The inner housing is configured to contain visible light within the inner housing and permit infrared radiation to exit only through the radiation filter. An outer housing having openings formed therein is disposed about the inner housing such that a portion of the outer housing is spaced from the inner housing to define a path for air between the openings. In a preferred embodiment, a cooling means is located within the outer housing to force exterior air along the path, allowing heat absorbed by the inner housing to be dissipated.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Electro-Mechanical Imagineering, Inc.Inventors: Ara K. Patent number: 5053585Abstract: A multipurpose keyboard incorporating an electronic pressure sensing device, a digitizer pad featuring spatial minimization of a pressure contact area capable of locating the leading and trailing edges of the pressure contact area is described. A processor coupled to the electronic pressure sensing device is programmed to sense when various regions on a simple, fully interchangeable template overlay and the underlying electronic pressure sensing device are depressed. The sensed region is associated by the processor with a particular key identification on the template overlay. The variation of the resistance in the digitizer pad enables the processor to detect the actuation of more than one key on the template overlay at the same time, thereby defecting key rollover. A method of fabrication for a multipurpose keyboard is also described.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1990Date of Patent: October 1, 1991Assignee: Interlink Electronics, IncorporatedInventor: Stuart I. Patent number: 5051904Abstract: An object is exposed to penetrating radiation at each of a plurality of partial rotations of the object. Radiation transmitted through the object strikes a separate sheet of radiographic film for each exposure to record an entire radiographic image of the object for each angular orientation. The radiographic images are digitized and stored in the memory of a computer. Each digitized image is registered by determining the error of rotation and center of rotation for each digitized image and correcting for the error of rotation by rotation and translation of pixel values. One or more displacement values are selected in correspondence with one or more desired levels of view and the digitized images are displaced according to the selected displacement values. The displaced images are then combined to produce images representative of the selected levels of view. Image planes non-parallel to the film image plane may be selected and interactive image enhancement and manipulation are provided.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1988Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Assignee: Olganix CorporationInventor: Lionell K. Patent number: 5048075Abstract: A system D interfaces with a multiplicity of individual terminals T1-Tn of a telephone network facility C, at the terminals callers are prompted by voice-generated instructions to provide digital data that is identified for positive association with a caller and is stored for processing. The caller's identification data is confirmed using various techniques and callers may be ranked and accounted for on the basis of entitlement, sequence or demographics. Callers are assigned random designations that are stored along with statistical and identification data. A break-off control circuit may terminate the computer interface aborting to a terminal for direct communication with an operator. Real-time operation processing is an alternative to stored data. The accumulation of stored data (statistical, calling order sequence, etc.) is variously processed and correlated as with developed or established data to isolate a select group or subset of callers who can be readily identified and reliably confirmed.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1990Date of Patent: September 10, 1991Assignee: First Data Resources Inc.Inventor: Ronald A.
