Abstract: A method of obtaining a stereoscopic view from two satellite or two aerial photographs (18, 19) of the same or overlapping area. The method involves aligning the photographs (18, 19) in a stereoscope (10) with the horizontal axis (16) of the stereoscope (10) aligned parallel to the flight path taken to produce the photographs (18, 19) or parallel to the scan direction employed by the satellite. The photographs (18, 19) being produced on infra red film in the case of aerial photography or enhanced to accentuate red and infra red in the case of satellite photography. A series of photographs are produced each with a desired color balance. The photographs are cross compared in the stereoscope (10) to produce an enhanced stereoscopic effect to enable detection and/or measurement of structures or effects.
Abstract: Immunoglobulins are purified by adsorption upon and adsorbent therefor using a buffer having a pH value of about pH 6 to pH 10 and containing at least one polycarboxylic acid in a concentration of about 0.5 M to about 0.9 M.
Abstract: Call data signals actuated by a telephone terminal are provided from a telephone communication system to indicate call data as the called number, the calling number and the calling equipment. The call data signals address related control functions for interfacing a multiple-format multiple-port data processing system. Screening tests and format selection for the processing system are performed. Individual telephone terminals and individual data formats are interfaced under controlled conditions specified by the call data. Time tests, history tests and demographic tests are executed in addition to basic qualification tests. Control is executed from active data storage for assembled control words and record words. Record words for individual calls are stored along with developed billing data.
Abstract: A disposable finishing article for mounting on a rotatable threaded spindle which may be used with a power tool. The finishing article contains a retaining nut on one side and a backing flange on the other non-removably secured together on the finishing article wihtout the aid of adhesives in such a manner that the finishing article is placed in compression when it is operably secured upon the spindle of the power tool under operational loads. The nut and flange are secured together by upsetting one end of the nut causing it to protrude outwardly over the outer surface of the flange. A generally inverted cup shaped member is carried by the spindle for engaging the outer surface of the backing flange or the finishing article during operation of the finishing article.
Abstract: A method of testing one's breath involving exhaling through the mouth into a face mask adapted to retain a substantial quantity of exhaled gases, and while retaining the mask in place, breathing in the exhaled gases through the nostrils.
Abstract: A volatile foaming agent for thermoplastic foam is a blend of about 65 to 75 weight percent chlorodifluoro-methane and from about 25 to 35 weight percent pentane.
Abstract: Image data is composed from primitives (polygons) to attain data for displays with the removal of hidden surfaces and smooth-appearing edges. Defined polygons are tested for priority in a determined field of vision by scan conversion to specify individual picture elements (pixels). Polygon contention for pixels is resolved by determining the edge of intersection between the planes of such polygons and testing the signs of certain values in accordance with predetermined criteria. Subpixel priority is treated for similar resolution to provide improved antialiased images.

Abstract: A thermoformed plastic carton constructed from two half sections which are integrally connected along one side by a hingable joint to allow the half sections to be folded upon each other. The carton further includes resiliently deflectable latches extending up from an edge of one carton half which mate with and become lodged in a receptacle formed in the other carton half section when the carton half sections are folded one upon another.
Abstract: A system for reliably recording digital data on marginal magnetic recording medium by utilizing a two-track format and testing to locate pairs of record-quality areas of the medium. A magnetic stripe on a document is defined into a pair of recording tracks each with a sequence of bit locations. Associated pairs of bit locations (one from each track) are jointly tested for recording quality. One bit location of poor quality eliminates the pair; however, if both bit locations meet a standard, they are employed cooperatively to record data. Specifically, each bit location initially is recorded with a pulse. Any pair of bit locations which cannot meet the standard is totally cleared (erased), while pairs of bit locations meeting the standard are selectively erased to represent digital data.
Abstract: A structure for, and method of making, thin films of Group I-III-VI compound semiconductors such as copper indium diselenide for use in heterojunction photovoltaic devices fabricated on metal substrates. An interfacial film containing gallium is first deposited upon the substrate. Thereafter, copper and indium films are deposited and the resulting stacked film is heated in the presence of a source of selenium to form copper indium diselenide semiconductor material with improved adhesion to the substrate and improved performance.

Abstract: An applicator for scrubbing an eyelid and a sealed, contaminant-excluding package thereof. The applicator includes an absorbent tip pre-wet for applying a liquid to an eyelid and affixed adjacent to a handle that is held firmly between the fingers for optimal control and safety near the eyeball.
Abstract: A burner apparatus comprising: a burner plate, a proportional directional valve through which fuel gas flows into said burner plate, a blower which supplies air to said burner plate, a thermal sensor which detects the burning condition of said burner plate, a heat determining means which determines the heat generation of said burner plate, a blower control circuit which controls said blower in response to the condition of said heat determining means, a proportional directional valve control circuit which controls the opening degree of said proportional directional valve in response to the output of said thermal sensor and the amount of air flow from said blower.
Abstract: An epoxy-encased wound capacitor suitable for being surface mounted and wave soldered to electronic circuitry, e.g. circuit boards and process for making the epoxy-encased wound capacitor. The wound capacitor is formed from winding together lengths of two bilaminar ribbons. The capacitor is then cured by exposing it to ultrasonic energy according to a predefined ultrasonic profile while at substantially the same time, mechanically pressing the capacitor. Contacts are formed on the capacitor and wire leads attached. Subsequently, the capacitor is placed in a flexible, reusable plastic mold featuring lead guides for precisely spacing the leads of the capacitor. Bubble-free epoxy is poured in the molds and heat cured. The epoxy-encased capacitor, suitable for surface mounting and wave soldering, is then removed from the mold.

Abstract: A connector for use in deep ocean environments has a housing defining an interior chamber filled with non-electrically conducting fluid wherein the cable termination is interconnected to a male or female contact apparatus. A pressure equalizing apparatus according to the invention includes a pair of mating sleeves positioned in the interior chamber, in spaced apart relationships, each having a cylindrical mating surface which sealingly mates against the interior surface of the chamber and a projecting sleeve receiving cylindrical surface. The sleeve receiving surfaces are juxtaposed opposite one another. An elastomeric boot is positioned over the sleeve receiving surfaces of each mating sleeve to thereby extend between the pair of sleeves and divide the interior chamber into an interior non-electrically conducting fluid retaining region and an exterior region.
