  • Patent number: 8289388
Abstract: A method for determining virtual cutting lines for a substrate prior to its singulation is provided whereby the substrate comprises first and second rows of alignment marks which are substantially parallel to each other such that a pair of alignment marks each from the first and second rows of alignment marks is configured for determining a position of a virtual cutting line. The method comprises the steps of positioning the first row of alignment marks along a relative motion path of a first camera and positioning the second row of alignment marks along a relative motion path of a second camera. While the substrate is being moved relative to the first and second cameras along the respective relative motion paths without stopping, the first and second cameras capture images of multiple pairs of alignment marks from the first and second rows of alignment marks during such motion.

Abstract: A method for the melting of pig iron in a blast furnace (1) operated with oxygen or in a melt-reduction plant, with a reduction region. Purified crude gas is discharged from the reduction region and is recirculated into the reduction region with the addition of hydrocarbons. The purified crude gas is mixed with hydrocarbons and is also blended with a reduction gas which has a temperature of above 1000° C. and which is generated by partial oxidation of hydrocarbons by means of oxygen gas having an oxygen content of above 90% by volume, in order to form a recirculation gas with a temperature of above 800° C. The recirculation gas is recirculated into the reduction region according to an auto-reforming process.

  • Patent number: 8285999
Abstract: With the widespread use of the distributed systems comes the need to secure such systems against a wide variety of threats. Recent security mechanisms are grossly inadequate in authenticating the program executions at the clients or servers, as the clients, servers and the executing programs themselves can be compromised after the clients and servers pass the authentication phase. A generic framework is provided for authenticating remote executions on a potentially untrusted remote server—essentially validating that what is executed at the server on behalf of the client is actually the intended program. Details of a prototype Linux implementation are also described, along with some optimization techniques for reducing the run-time overhead of the present scheme. The performance overhead of this technique varies generally from 7% to 24% for most benchmarks, as seen from the actual remote execution of SPEC benchmarks.

  • Patent number: 8285719
Abstract: Relational clustering has attracted more and more attention due to its phenomenal impact in various important applications which involve multi-type interrelated data objects, such as Web mining, search marketing, bioinformatics, citation analysis, and epidemiology. A probabilistic model is presented for relational clustering, which also provides a principal framework to unify various important clustering tasks including traditional attributes-based clustering, semi-supervised clustering, co-clustering and graph clustering. The model seeks to identify cluster structures for each type of data objects and interaction patterns between different types of objects. Under this model, parametric hard and soft relational clustering algorithms are provided under a large number of exponential family distributions.

  • Patent number: 8284442
Abstract: An image processing system readily provides a client PC with preview of a target image for printing or transmission. In accordance with a request from a client PC, a server requests a MFP to generate base image data by reducing the size of an original image and to transmit information of image editing contents available for the MFP to the server. In accordance with the requests from the server, the MFP subsequently provides the base image data and necessary information to the server. Then, the server provides the client PC with a preview window to display the image data obtained by reducing the size of the base image data and an image editing window to display image editing contents available for the MFP.

  • Patent number: 8284224
Abstract: A thermal printer allows ink ribbon replacement without interference of a hook positioned in the opened state particularly in an ink ribbon replacement operation. A thermal printer includes a head lock lever 40 which includes a hook 41 at the tip of the lever. The hook is mounted such that it can be moved in the longitudinal direction relative to a turn shaft 26 during turning of the turn shaft 26, allowing the distance between the turn shaft 26 and the hook 41 to be changed. A movement control moves the head lock lever 40 such that the distance between the turn shaft 26 and the hook 41 in the opened state in which the thermal head 12 is separated from the platen roller 11 is smaller than that in the pressed state in which the thermal head 12 is pressed into contact with the platen roller 11.

  • Patent number: 8280398
Abstract: A positioning system includes an illumination device, a terminal, and a positioning server. The illumination device transmits identification information. The terminal transmits the identification information received from the illumination device, to the positioning server. The positioning server uses the identification information received from the terminal, thereby searching an illumination installation position database registered in advance so as to identify the terminal position. This eliminates power supply for positioning infrastructure and facilitates attachment to a ceiling, thereby realizing the positioning infrastructure at a low cost.

  • Patent number: 8277569
Abstract: A substrate processing apparatus and a substrate processing method are capable of restraining or preventing the generation of streaky particles on a substrate surface by excellent removal of a rinsing liquid therefrom. The substrate processing apparatus has a substrate inclining mechanism for inclining a substrate held by a substrate holding mechanism. After a rinsing liquid has been supplied onto a substrate to form a liquid mass, the substrate is inclined at a small angle by the substrate inclining mechanism. Then, the liquid mass is downwardly moved without being fragmented and then falls down without leaving minute droplets on the substrate top. Thereafter, the substrate is returned to a horizontal posture and then dried.
