  • Patent number: 5469063
Abstract: A test instrument for determining whether an apparatus has a high voltage on the chassis thereof includes a meter, a probe and a socket for receiving a plug from the device being tested. The device also has a plug for insertion into an AC outlet. The test device first tests to determine that the AC outlet into which it is plugged is properly configured, then tests for a voltage on the chassis of a tested apparatus. The test is undertaken by connecting both the high and low contacts of the plug from an apparatus to be tested to the high voltage side of an outlet and connecting the probe to the ground contact of an outlet. Thereafter, when the probe is touched to the chassis of the apparatus the meter will indicate whether a voltage is present on the chassis of the appliance.

  • Patent number: 5461317
Abstract: A device for testing for leakage of electronic equipment has a female AC connector for receiving the male AC connector of the electronic equipment to be tested and a male AC connector for attaching the test device to a source of AC power. The device also includes an electrically conductive probe and a meter for detecting a voltage on a surface contacted by the probe. Within the device are first and second switches which connect the male AC connector and the female AC connector in four successive configurations for applying AC power to the connector of the piece of equipment to be tested. A sequencing circuit in the device operates the two switches to apply all four test configurations within an interval of 1.033 seconds. The probe and the meter for detecting a current in the probe is used to contact the conductive surfaces of the piece of equipment being tested to detect a voltage while the four tests are applied to the power connector.

  • Patent number: 5438730
Abstract: A handle for a valve stem having a polygon shaped cross section has a transverse hole for receiving the polygon cross section portion of the stem. A second hole having an axis perpendicular to the transverse hole intersects a portion of the transverse hole which is adapted to receive one of the corners of the polygon shaped valve stem. A removable pin is thereafter forced into the second hole to deform a portion of the valve stem and retain the handle on the stem.

  • Patent number: 5425537
Abstract: A game is played by rolling a plurality of multi-faced dice and accumulating a total of the numbers shown on the up faces of the dice. One face of each die bears a symbol, and the player loses the points accumulated during his turn if one of the dice displays a symbol as a result of having been rolled, and the player loses all of his points if both of the dice displays the symbols as a result of the roll.

  • Patent number: 5394810
Abstract: An item of foldable furniture has a first blank for a top portion and one or more second blanks for pedestals. The top blank is rectangular in shape with a plurality of parallel scores such that the blank may be folded for storage and shipping. A first score midway along the length of the first blank such that the top of the furniture is folded along its longitudinal centerline and has second and third scores such that the item of furniture may be folded and inserted into a package for shipping. Each pedestal is constructed of a second blank which also has a plurality of longitudinal scores dividing the pedestal blank into sections. When the ends of the pedestal blank are joined, a pedestal is formed. A double score is provided between a first and a second of the sections of the pedestal such that the first and second sections can be folded around a third and fourth section in order that the pedestal may be folded for storage and shipping along with the top.

  • Patent number: 5385306
Abstract: A spreader is attachable to a conventional lawn mower to spread granular material over the area cut by the mower. The spreader has a hopper, at least one adjustable orifice at the bottom of the hopper, and a rotating regulator for dispensing granular material behind the lawn mower. In one embodiment, a first sprocket attached to the wheel of the lawn mower, and a second sprocket attached to the spreader receive a chain for driving the rotating regulator of the spreader. In a second embodiment, the spreader is driven by a pair of bevel gears, one of which is mounted on the rear axle of the mower. A novel drive does not convey rotational movement to the impeller of the spreader when the mower is moved a short distance backwards. Also, the lever operating the clutch to engage power to the Pear wheels simultaneously operates a stop to block the flow of particulate matter out of the hopper of the fertilizer spreader.

  • Patent number: 5381996
Abstract: A valve operating machine has a reversable motor and a drive assembly for turning the stem of a valve, and a sensor for determining the torque applied to the valve stem. The amount of torque applied to the valve stem is regulated so as not to exceed the torque limits of the valve. The machine will gradually apply greater amounts of torque in opposite directions until the valve has become unfrozen. Thereafter, the valve will be rotated until the opening or closing cycle has been completed. When an increase in torque is detected, the machine will reverse to unjam a valve, and where such reversal does not result in further forward movement, the machine will terminate the cycle.

  • Patent number: 5366279
Abstract: A cover for an oil hub extending through a truck wheel has a tubular body with a transverse surface at one end thereof. The inner diameter of the tubular body is a little greater than the outer diameter of the cylindrical section of the oil hub around which the body is fitted. A compressible sleeve, typically made of a foam rubber or the like, has an inner diameter a little less than the outer diameter of the cylindrical section of the oil hub, and has an outer diameter which is larger than the inner diameter of the tubular body of the cover. The cover is retained over the compressable sleeve by the radial force of the sleeve and by a double sided tape which is applied to the outer surfaces of the compressible sleeve and across the distal end of the oil hub.

  • Patent number: 5333403
Abstract: A muzzle loading rifle has a cylindrical primer holder having a transverse hole therethrough which is provided to retain a primer charge. The primer holder may be rotated from a firing position to a safety position while retaining the charge enclosed within the receiver of the rifle. The back end of a breach plug engages the primer holder and an annular ring at the back of the breach plug is sized to be shearable by the breach plug at a predetermined pressure for providing an additional safety feature for the rifle. Shearing the breach plug annular ring is engineered to absorb substantial excess pressure if present.
