  • Patent number: 5333380
Abstract: A shaft-mounted bushing for connecting a rotating member to a shaft. The bushing includes a frame receiving a hub rotatably mounted therein. The hub includes an opening at one end thereof for receiving a shaft from the one end thereof. The hub includes a tapered portion which converges inwardly from the one end of the hub and toward the other end thereof. A sleeve is mounted into the hub from the one end of the hub and between the tapered portion of the hub and the cylindrical shaft. The outer portion of the sleeve converges inwardly from the one end of the hub and engages the hub. The sleeve presents an inward portion which is coaxial with and parallel to the cylindrical shaft for engaging the shaft in force transmitting relation ship therewith. The bushing assembly is completed by drawing the sleeve into the hub by way of a fastener located at the other end of the hub.

  • Patent number: 5330013
Abstract: The present invention is an improved drill head unit in which the lower portion of the drill chuck has a lobed shaped cross section which fits into a corresponding lobed shaped opening in a shaft connected to a spiral bevel gear mounted for rotation about a vertical axis. The lobed shaped cross section replaces the spline drive previously used in such units, and the spiral bevel gears replace the bevel gears previously used. An improved and simplified radial elastomeric seal is provided to separate a vacuum pressurized cavity in the housing from a lubricating cavity in the housing, and a locking mechanism locks against the drill steel such that the drill steel can be withdrawn from a drilled hole by lowering the drill head unit.

  • Patent number: 5313732
Abstract: A muzzle loading rifle has a cocking member which is rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the central axis of the barrel of the rifle and has a cam mounted on the distal end thereof. When the cocking member and the cam are rotated, the cam will move the hammer from a fired position to a cocked position. Second, a cylindrical primer holder having a transverse hole therethrough is provided to retain a primer charge. The primer holder may be rotated from a firing position to a safety position while retaining the charge enclosed within the receiver of the rifle. Third, a safety lever rotates about an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the hammer sear from a first locked position to a second unlocked position. Movement of the safety lever to the second position unlocks the sear and allows the weapon to be fired.

  • Patent number: 5292298
Abstract: A heat transfer roll has first and second disc-shaped outer end sections each having a centrally located tubular shaft. An inner tubular body is fitted over the two outer end sections, and a plurality of spiral ribs extend from the first end to the second end around the inner tubular body, and an outer tubular shell is fitted over the spiral ribs to form a plurality of spiral channels. Each of the end sections have one or more passageways therein which are in communication with the bore through the tubular shaft and the spiral channels. One of the outer end sections is adapted to receive a plurality of removable plugs, such that each removable plug when inserted will block the flow of liquid to one of the spiral channels. To clean such a heat transfer roll, all but one channel may be closed such that the remaining open channel may be cleaned.

  • Patent number: 5256921
Abstract: A gear motor having an output shaft for driving the dispensing mechanism of a vending machine includes a plurality of magnetically operated switches positioned adjacent one end of the output shaft and a plurality of magnets attached to that end of the output shaft. A DC electric motor is energized by a computer to rotate the output shaft in a first direction until one of the magnetic switches is actuated by a magnet, which instructs the computer to reverse the polarity of power to the DC motor, reversing the direction of the motor and the output shaft. When the output shaft is returned to its standby position, one or more of the switches are again actuated which instructs the computer to terminate power to the DC motor. An enclosure surrounds the switches and magnets and protects them from the ambient.
