Patent number: 6987557Abstract: Measurements of an interferometric measurement system are corrected for variations of atmospheric conditions such as pressure, temperature, and turbulence using measurements from a second harmonic interferometer (SHI). A ramp, representing the dependence of the SHI data on path length, is removed before utilizing the SHI data. The SHI may include a passive Q-switched laser as a light source and Brewster prisms in the receiver module. Optical fibers may be used to conduct light to the detectors. A mirror reflecting the measurement beams has a coating of a thickness selected to minimize the sensitivity of the SHI data to changes in coating thickness.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2003Date of Patent: January 17, 2006Assignee: ASML Netherlands B.V.Inventors: Wouter Onno Pril, Engelbertus Antonius F. Van De Pasch, Robert F. Dillon, Philip Dennis Henshaw

Patent number: 6983161Abstract: The invention relates to a method for performing frequency synchronization of a base station, and to a network part. In the method, the following operations are performed: maintaining a reference clock in a network element of the cellular radio network; generating a time stamp signal in the reference clock; transferring the time stamp signal from the network element to the base station over an asynchronous data transmission connection; calculating on the basis of the transferred time stamp signal how much the time by the local clock at the base station deviates from the time by the reference clock; generating a speed correction factor for the local clock on the basis of at least one calculated deviation; correcting the running of the local clock with the speed correction factor; and generating the frequencies needed at the base station by using the local clock corrected with the speed correction factor.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2002Date of Patent: January 3, 2006Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Philip B Wesby, Alexander Esser

Patent number: 6977940Abstract: The invention relates to a method and means for managing packet queues in switches. The switch has a shared memory split in a small internal memory and a large external memory. There is limited bandwidth to the external memory. The method comprises the steps of dividing a data stream incoming on the input ports intended for respective output ports into two parts, of which the first part is to be sent to an internal queue belonging to at least one output port and the second part is to be sent to the external memory. The incoming data stream may be identified as belonging to flow groups and the division of the data stream is then performed e.g. such that flow groups with a higher priority than a division threshold are sent to said internal queues in the first part, while flow groups with priority lower than said threshold are sent to the external memory in the second part.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2000Date of Patent: December 20, 2005Assignee: Switchcore, ABInventors: Ulf Ahlfors, Anders Fyhn, Peter Tufvesson
