  • Patent number: 6612466
Abstract: A fitment has walls with a spout aperture therebetween. Reduced wall thickness results in a reduced amount of plastic in the fitment. An alternative embodiment uses radially extending meltable fins. During installation in asealing apparatus, a heated mandrel engages the inner diameter of the spout aperture thereby pre-heating and physically supporting the fitment during the installation process. The heated mandrel typically engages the fitment at least one cycle prior to be installed. The fitment may be canoe-shaped.

  • Patent number: 6612796
Abstract: The fastener includes a post element, a blind aperture assembly with a blind aperture into which the post element is inserted, and a rigid fastening member. The rigid fastening member includes a lower helical edge with an inwardly extending lip which threadably engages the external threads formed on the post. The inclined rotationally symmetric wall deflects upon insertion into the blind aperture, but then interferes with the walls of the blind aperture to resist withdrawal.

  • Patent number: 6609828
Abstract: A method of making reclosable packaging utilizes a longitudinally extending web of film material having cutouts therein. A length of zipper strip substantially half the width of the web and having an attached slider is applied transversely across the web of film material with the slider positioned in the cut out. The web is folded longitudinally with the zipper attached to the web and the slider positioned in the cut out. The edges of the web are brought together longitudinally and seamed to form a tube. The opposite ends of the tube are sealed to form the package. The resultant bag has the slider seated in the cut-out where it is readily visible to a consumer.

  • Patent number: 6600009
Abstract: In the preparation of polyarylene sulfide (PAS) by reacting an alkali metal sulfide with a dihaloaromatic compound in an organic amide solvent to obtain a polyarylene sulfide slurry and subjecting the slurry to acid treatment, an acid or hydrogen salt is added to the slurry in such an amount that a pH of the slurry is more than 7.0 and at most 11.0 to carry out the acid treatment. Alternatively, a zinc compound in an amount of 0.1 to 1.5 mole % per mole of the alkali metal sulfide supplied is added to the polyarylene sulfide slurry to treat the slurry, and, then, an acid or hydrogen salt in an amount of at least 0.2 mole % per mole of the alkali metal sulfide supplied is added. The PAS thus obtained has high crystallization speed, high whiteness, high mechanical strength and high melt viscosity, V6.
